WORTH IT
Summary: Previously 32A. Motiva Ergo, demi profile, 320cc (left) and 360cc (right).
Dr Chia is, as everyone described, really lovely, patient and skilful. The team of nurses (Phyllis, Amber, Yayan etc) is caring before, during and after surgery, always just a whatsapp away. Anaesthetic doctor Dr Ong was also very sweet and patient. There is zero judgement. The clinic is discreet and tastefully designed. Overall a great experience. It is 9 days post ops today so I can say that surgery and recovery were completely painless but DISCOMFORT is a whole different story, which I'll update as we go along!

Week 1 summary

Summary:
Pain was minimal but discomfort was sky high. Days 4 and 5 were my worst. I drank Yakult and about 3 litres of water a day, which I guess helped with constipation cause it wasn’t too bad. I started drinking red dates tea from day 4, which supposedly helps with wound healing though not sure if it helps. Did the stretches diligently and seems to help a lot with tightness and recovering range of arm movement quickly.
Thought to log my daily journey, at least for week 1, because it was pretty challenging for me and reading all these similar experiences was very reassuring. Hopefully, this could help someone else going through recovery too!
Pre Ops:
Pricing is very upfront, I reached out on their contact form and it was the first thing they shared. First consult with Dr Chia was as great as everyone described. Took close to an hour. She went through a detailed slide deck, showed implant samples for me to poke and touch and patiently answered all my questions. I was then brought to a room for vectra imaging where we discussed my ideal boobs. She really took the time to assess and listen to what I want and don’t want. I have scoliosis so she recommended different size implants for the asymmetry, which is $500 more. There is a covid surcharge of $100+. Consult is about $200. These are the extra charges, the rest is included in the $15k (before gst). I had gone through many reviews of Dr Chia and other doctors. Reviews for both SW1 doctors stood out by far. After meeting Dr Chia, I felt even more certain so I made 50% deposit to book a surgery date 3 weeks away.
Dropped a couple of questions after the consult via WhatsApp and nurses replied very quickly. Had a couple more longer questions on working out and implant method so nurses suggested a second consult FOC. I exercise A LOT and competitively so taking a 2 month or more break was scary to me. I needed a lot of assurance that I could get back to it 100% after recovery with dual plane insertion. Dr Chia was very reassuring and confident of this.
Day 0: Ops day
The night and morning before surgery, I showered and washed my boobs with the solution they gave me. Fasted for 8h. Before ops, nurse Phyllis very patiently explained all the medication to me and told me to do 2 types of stretches every hour (10x of flap arms up and down my side and chest stretch). Dr Chia took before photos and drew on my boobs. Dr Ong the anaesthetist was very patient and gentle. The 2 little injections were painless. It took awhile for me to fall asleep and he was very reassuring and told me it’s ok we will do it slowly. I soon knocked out completely.
Fell into such a wonderful sleep and woke up completely lucid too. Zero pain but SUPER SUPER ACHEY. So much tightness. Breathing and talking were difficult. I could not even take a phone call cause talking was exhausting. They put me in a compression bra, which in my drugged and numb state I thought was very comfortable, but over the days i would soon realise is a medieval torture device.
When I got home, I tried doing the stretches and could not lift arms above 90 degrees, even this was a struggle. I could not even attempt to do the chest stretch. I also could not sit up from bed on my own. Didn’t have much appetite, wasn’t hungry despite the fasting and I ate one meal throughout the whole day.
Day 1 Post Ops:
Slept SOOOO well last night with the sleeping pill! I did the stretches diligently every hour at least and can now lift my arms up fully towards the end of the day. Still feeling so much tightness. Occasional mild nausea from Ultracet (a strong painkiller). Not much appetite still. I could also still shit today. Also able to wash my hair slowly on my own. Slept on and off all day long.
Day 2 Post Ops:
Slept so so well again last night with the sleeping pill. Woke up to tightness and heaviness. I can lift my arms up all the way easily now. Got my period and the blood was heavy and unusually very dark, almost black. According to the nurse, this is due to the anaesthesia. Boobs are still ridiculously conical and hard.
Day 3 Post Ops:
Sharp pain on right boob when I woke up and there is also some squelching sound when I straighten my hand at the top while stretching. Between my collar bone and breast, there is also some bubbly squelching feeling when I touch it gently. Texted clinic to check and they said it’s normal and that I can loosen or not wear the upper band of the compression bra. In the many recovery videos I watched, it seems that day 3 PO is the worst so I thought the worst is over. Oh boy was I so wrong because I finished my sleeping pills and will soon descend into hell and misery.
Day 4 Post Ops:
It was the worst night of sleep last night! I was in discomfort ALL NIGHT LONG. I am not a back sleeper. We’re allowed to sleep on the sides, but it’s not comfortable. We also do not have to sleep sitting up or reclining but it was really uncomfortable for me to sleep flat on my back. It felt like my boobs were rolling down to my neck and crushing me so I would tighten the upper band of the compression bra to hold them back but this tightness was uncomfortable too. Everything I did caused discomfort! So I just spent the whole night adjusting between the different types of discomfort, switch between tightening and loosening the band, switch between lying flat down and sitting up with pillows behind my back. Each change in position took time and great effort because it was so tough to sit myself up and took all my strength to move my pillows. I felt so sorry for myself because just a week ago, I was working out like crazy and now picking up a pillow was the most tiring thing ever. I slept a grand total of 2-3 hours.
Woke up feeling much better though! No pain or aches but breasts are still so high up and look alien. I wonder when they’ll settle. I felt bloated and constipated too from the antibiotics. Also, unusually super emotional and felt like crying over the tiniest things. There was a lot of self doubt and misery. It was honestly very hard at this point to feel that all this is worth it :(
Day 5 Post Ops:
I checked with the clinic if I can take melatonin to aid sleep and they said yes to 5mg so I took it but it was still an awful night of sleep last night. I hope yesterday would be the worst day and it can only get better from here on (reflecting from the future, this is true!). Chest is still feeling so tight but I think wearing the upper band to sleep helps to keep me from feeling like my breasts are falling to my neck and suffocating me. At least this morning the breasts actually look quite beautiful! Won’t say that today is much better but I think I was a bit more mentally prepared for extreme discomfort. I also started drinking red dates tea, which I read helps to promote wound healing and replenish blood.
Day 6 Post Ops:
Today was the day that things started getting better. Even with melatonin, I still could not sleep well last night. Woke up 3-4 times to adjust positions. Woke up this morning with super tight and heavy chest, morning boobs I guess, but it goes away quickly. I think doing the stretches diligently every waking hour goes a long way. I was feeling some discomfort on my right incision site so the nurse told me to go down to the clinic for a check. My nipples and areoles are crazy sensitive and protruding even under the compression bra so I had to wear wear nip tape out. Nurses said the wounds have healed very nicely but my skin is quite sensitive to the dressing. They washed and pasted scar tape over. It can last up to 2 months. I can wash with water if it gets dirty and re-paste it. I’m also cleared of this torture device, I mean compression bra, hurrah! In the day, I have to wear bras with no underwire and non-push up, 2-3 hours no bra is fine. At night, sleep in tight tank top or sleep bra for light support. The nurse also recommended those bra tops from uniqlo so I got a few. sized up so it’ll be looser and more comfortable. I also begged and got 3 more sleeping pills, the max they can give me.
Day 7 Post Ops:
Slept so well with the sleeping pill. Realised it’s typically prescribed for anxiety no wonder the calming effect is great. Today marks the first day of being off meds! I was supposed to have my 1-week follow up with Dr Chia today but since I went down yesterday and got my wound dressing removed, it was not necessary anymore and they pushed it to next week.
I went to Perk By Kate for a fitting and I’m shockingly a 32/34D. We sized up a little cause of the swelling and bloating so I really hope they will settle into a nice C instead cause that’s my ideal size. Their Mia bralette is LIFECHANGING. My boobs have not been happier since waking up from surgery. I attached a couple of photos of my current boobs in the bralettes in the review.
Day 8 Post Ops:
Did not feel a need to take sleeping pills last night and slept pretty well! Woke up with morning boobs but bearable and goes away fast. Apart from super sensitive nipples, the discomfort has reduced greatly. I have full range of movement and can do everything on my own comfortably although with lesser strength if it involves the chest muscles.
Will do a week 2 update with more photos!

Thank you so much for your honest and thorough daily log. I’ll be getting my BA this April in Phuket- also motiva ergo (dual plane). Did you go under the muscle? And looking back at the first week of recovery do you have any tips? I’ll be by myself in a hotel recovering so I need to make sure I’m mentally prepped for it
June 19, 2022
Hi. Please can you let me know how you recovered alone in your hotel. I'm thinking of doing the same but so apprehensive about it!
September 13, 2022
sorry this reply is so late and you must have done your surgery already. hope it went well! i did dual plane. if you're still going through surgery, i'd say do the stretching exercises the doctor recommends every day. it helped me get my range of movement back very quickly. i also asked for extra sleeping pills because it was really hard for me to sleep well at night
March 29, 2022
You're most welcome! I did dual plane so a part is over and a part under. My advice would be to take the painkillers and sleeping pills that they provide! My first week really got quite bad when I ran out of sleeping pills after the first 3 nights and couldn't sleep at all. So I asked for a 3 more and took 1. Things miraculously got better after day 5-6! Doing the exercises they told me to religiously every hour helped with my range of movement so i could do most things, even showering all on my own very quickly. Try to ask for extra pillows so you can make yourself comfortable. All the best for your surgery!!

Week 2 summary

Things are looking up. The boobs have dropped quite a bit, are less hard and there is also much lesser tightness. The only thing that bugs me now is how sensitive my nipples and areoles are. Had a week 2 consult with Dr Chia and she prescribed Lyrica to help with the sensitivity but I’ve gotten somewhat used to it so I’ll hold off getting them. I can also do lower body exercises and bicep curls now. Uploaded some photos from this week!
