Lip lift journey

It takes time

$4,000
So after being absolutely neurotic about every change, it gets better. The nose is much better, the swelling is much better. The incision is getting better. I was initially afraid that I had let it drop. The incision was seamless at first and then looked indented and seemed to show more of a scar ...and I thought that I did something wrong. It's the healing process. Everyone heals differently and the can make you go crazy.

Met with my doctor and he agreed that it's healing well. He has definitely been a rock of a doctor, especially with all my anxiety. He's been there and I'm lucky to have gone with him. After consultations with previous doctors in the past, I have never met someone so understanding and compassionate with their clients. Every other doctor has been dismissive and painfully rude. Dr.Rafizadeh has been the complete opposite.

I will try to trust the healing process again from now on. So far so good:)

Hello Jennifer, is there anything you would have done differently or asked before?
I am seriously considering making an appointment. I am trying to get in touch with patients who have had it done but no one has reached out to me.
Thank you in advance.

Ups and downs

So it's difficult to hide the indentation from the incision line and the lumpy nose skin... but I keep telling myself it will pass. The only problem is heading to work and facing others. I have to just understand that this is a transition period and I should take longer breaks from work if I do any procedure.
At times it's better and then at other times the crease is much more noticeable.
I'm looking forward to seeing my doctor to see what he says. He has been reassuring thus far.

Thanks for writing your review! I'm in a similar situation as you... but am not quite ready to write my review. I have a number of concerns/questions with my lip lift too and from the sounds of it we both had our surgery on the same day (give or take a day). Are you still concerned with the "m" in your lip and the tubercle? I have that still with my lip and it bothers me since it inhibits tooth show in the middle and the dip on the top looks more apparent to me now that my whole lip has been lifted. I was hoping for that cute cupid's bow look, but somehow it didn't turn out quite right. I think the healing period is one of the most challenging parts about surgery. It takes so much patience. I think we notice things about our own features too that others don't notice so much - at least that's what I keep telling myself. Hang in there during the healing process! We just have to remind ourselves that everything isn't quite done and settled yet! :-) By the way, from your pictures, your incision area looks good to me... mine looks like something went wrong under my nose.
Im having issues with mine as well.. I think I wasnt truly able to accept a scar under my nose, but I didnt know until after I did it. :( Sigh. At least my nose looks the same... unfortunately my lips do too.
its so funny.. Dr. R did his wife like 5x... seriously, you should ask her. why would he do her 5x? because liplifts drop! He knows this. I understand why he would want to be conservative, but why not just hike it up instead of knowing the inevitable and having folks pay over and over again. smh.
I totally understand, just had a revision lip lift a couple weeks ago and now I am back at work. I am still swollen and the incision still looks like a mess even with make up on. I am so self conscious as coworkers are looking at me like I have three heads.
I also had a lip lift from Dr. R. and I was so horrified I never contacted them again. My loving kind husband even said I also had a lip lift from Dr. R. and I was so horrified I never contacted them again. My loving kind husband even said " I think you may have ruined your looks completely darling" . I knew there would be a scar and that is not really the biggest issue, it is the fact that now my nostrils do not match, and my upper lip and nose both look crooked because this scar has pulled unevenly. I have not let anyone touch my face since then, because I'm afraid it could just get worse. I don't even want to post a picture. So sad when you spend a lot of money, and end up with a permanent disfigurement :(

Nose issues

16 days after surgery day. I understand why I look so strange now. My nose looks like a bull nose...not because of the swelling so much but because I'm missing my nasal sill and it's really upsetting. My nostrils seem much larger..I'm able to see much farther into my nose than I ever wanted to. I'm hoping that it will go down and that the nostril show will not be as severe. The scar is a whole different issue. I recommend taking 2 weeks off of work for anyone considering a lip lift.
Trying to be patient... But the nostrils are terrible.

They will drop/settle down. Please be patient.
Thank you:) I'm trying. It's been a bunch of ups and downs...
From what I understand, hiding the incision inside of the nose is not a good thing, since you then remove the natural border between upper lip and nose (nasal sill). I do agree, he shlouldn't have done that :(
I've now looked through all his LL here on realself.. and I see that he always uses this method with "hiding" the incision inside the nose. And his clients seem happy about the results. But to me.. removing the nasal sill looks very strange..and i dont think it can be repaired.
I'm hoping that any swelling goes down and maybe the nostril can be tucked in a bit to make it look like a nasal sill. I'm sure it looks fine on everyone else... unfortunately, my skin is thicker than most I've seen that have gotten the the lift and it makes me feel upset that I didn't know this before. There's not much I can do but wait. I read that the waiting period can last a few months so I'm hoping that there will be a lot less nostril show by then and a smooth transition from my nostrils to my upper lip skin..
I'm sure it will! Dont worry ;) Keep us updated! Good luck <3
I have the same issue with nostrils, and i am 4 months post lip lift. I am going to demand that the doctor will address this problem. Hope it can be fixed.
patients daily worrying and phone calls - every surgeon's dream
LOL yep, calling less than a handful of times is game changing when you save and spend a few grand.
I have to say looking at your before photo you absolutely did not need to surgery! If I could have your before I would be so happy. Sorry you felt like you needed this.
