I intitially went to Dr.Rafizadeh for a lip lift \ lip reduction, but he told me to come back in a year because I recently had radiesse injected into my nasal labial folds and wanted the fillers to subside so he could get an accurate measurement on what to take off. So I came back a year later and he suggested we start with the lip reduction due to previous overly done fat lip injections. I was extremely pleased with the results. My facial harmony changed for the better and I knew with a lip lift, it would be a homerun. I've always had a long distance between my lip and nose and with age it was getting worse due to facial laxity. While waiting for our scheduled lip lift appointment I went back on his website to look at his before and after facelifts and WOW! The patients looked the same except refreshed. This is what I had been waiting for. Someone I could trust to touch my face. I felt 100% confident Dr.Rafizadeh was that person. Also, I noticed he did facelifts under local anesthesia. I decided to schedule another appointment to discuss a lower facelift as well. We decided it was best to perform both the lip lift and lower facelift at the same time. My Christmas present to myself:-)
The morning of the surgery, I checked into a nearby hotel and prepared my room. I had a gallon of purified water, fruit, yogurt, protein bars, soup, etc. I then drove myself to the hospital, parked in the lot and checked in. I was nervous. While waiting, I called Dr.Rafizadeh's office a zillion times and they assured me the procedure would go smoothly. Moments later Dr.Rafizadeh arrived, marked my face and we met in the Operating Room. Although we had agreed on local anesthesia , Dr. Rafizadeh was going to sedate me as well until it was brought to his attention I would be picked up by a local cab after my procedure, so legally he couldn't do it. All of the nurses and medical assistants including Dr.Rafizadeh thought I was nuts! Everyone has a next of kin or someone to pick them up LOL You see in my world, plastic surgery is taboo so I hadn't told a soul. I was determined to go to my grave with this secret LOL!!! Even if I had to be my own caretaker. Once the surgery began we all had a blast. I was surprised how easy the procedure was going. I was giving Dr.Rafizadeh marketing tips on his business, everyone was cracking jokes, the room was filled with laughter.. "The only thing missing was the champagne" in the words of Dr.Rafizadeh:-) Time flew by. Next thing I knew I was being sewn up and everyone gawked at my immediate results. I couldn't wait to see!!! I couldn't believe I had just had a faclift and lip lift! I felt like I could run a marathon. Ok maybe that's going a bit far but I was not out of it at all. I said my goodbyes to everyone, got dressed, and got my belongings from security. What a great hospital! Everyone was soo nice! I walked upstairs to call a cab, and as I was walking I said to myself, I feel fine, I'm gonna drive myself to the hotel! I got in my car, went to walgreens, got my meds and went to the hotel. What an adventure!!! LOL As soon as I got to the room I looked at myself. OMG! I looked soo good:-) I knew I had made the right decision. I know everyone heals differently but I don't have any bruises, a little sore around the ears and tender underneath my nose where the lip lift was performed. But all in all this was a piece of cake! I ate and watched movies all night, checked out the next morning and met with Dr.Rafizadeh and the nurse.... We laughed about my adventure and they were also surprised to see how much I wasn't bruised. Dr.Rafizadeh admitted he had some doubts about performing the surgery on me LOL but was happy he did. I have NO regrets, I would do it the same way if I could do it all over again except maybe add on another procedure:-) Dr.Rafizadeh is so gentle! And SKILLED! No wonder they call him "The Master".
It's only been a week so I will keep you posted! Thus far a lil uncomfortable sleeping and itchy incisions. Minimal swelling. I've been extremely proactive with helping the healing process drinking horsechestnut, eating lots of protein ie: shakes and cliff bars, 2 tablespoons of blackstrap molasses, and green powdered drinks.
