Month 1 of Accutane - I am really hopeful!

WORTH IT$60
Accutane has been life changing. I really wish I could tell my 15 year old self to go on it-it would’ve saved me some tears. I was intimidated by all the possible side effects and horror stories but I had a great experience. I got chapped lips and my eyes watered a lot but it was SO worth it. I only washed my face at night (with cetaphil gentle cleanser) and I used Kiehls ultra moisturizing products (lotion and masques) for the duration of treatment and I had no flare ups, peeling or redness. I also took fish oil with my pills which seemed to help absorption.

Middle of Month 2

My dose was upped to 2 pills every even day and 1 pill every odd day (40 mg) my first day taking 2 pills I got a bloody nose that lasted for 20 minutes, I got pretty light headed and anxious. I have been sticking aquaphor up my nose which has helped prevent more nose bleeds thankfully! My lips have gotten more chapped and I still feel like a human raisin but I am slowly but surely seeing results!!!

ORIGINAL POST

Month 1 of Accutane

Like everyone, I have tried everything (antibiotics, chemical peels, spironolactone) before finally trying accutane. I am 25 years old and I've mostly struggled with cystic acne and really oily skin. I am just about done with my first month on Claravis, 40 mg a day. I was paranoid about the side effects but I truly have had very few problems. My stomach has been bothering me the most which is odd because I haven't heard of that being a side effect of accutane, it just feels crampy all the time. My lips are also dry but manageable. My skin has improved with some hyperpigmentation and scarring still on my cheeks. I am really hopeful!

Thanks for letting us know how your treatment is going so far - I hope everything goes smoothly and please feel free to update us any time on your progress.

Hey! Roaccutane truly changed my life, my side effects weren’t too bad either even after the first month with the exception of pain in an old hip injury but that was manageable with painkillers. I’d have gone through almost anything for the results it gave me, and a year on I’m still singing it’s praises any chance I get!
That is so great to hear! I already think it's well worth it.
