Traveled from NJ to San Antonio for Exceptional Care from Consultation Through Recovery
WORTH IT
I traveled from New Jersey to San Antonio for a tummy tuck with muscle repair, lipo 360, and a breast lift with augmentation and mesh with Dr. Lopez. I’m still early in recovery, so I’ll have more to share about my results as I heal, but my experience with him and his team has already exceeded my expectations.
CONSULTATION AND COMMUNICATION
My virtual consultation lasted a full hour, and Dr. Lopez came prepared with a slide presentation to explain everything. He took his time, answered all my questions, and never made me feel rushed. I left feeling informed and comfortable with my decision.
Having a number to text for payments, procedure questions, and anything else made the process much easier. Most times, I received a response within an hour, and I could count on an answer before the end of the day. Wendy, Nicole, and Vanessa were organized, responsive, and easy to talk to. As an out-of-town patient, I appreciated arriving prepared.
SURGERY DAY
My OR nurses, Yuri and Mia, helped settle my nerves right away. One moment that really stayed with me was when a nurse explained that I would need a catheter because of the length of my procedure. Without me asking, she reassured me that she would protect my privacy and dignity while placing it, including keeping me blocked from view. That “I’ve got you covered” reassurance meant a lot when I was already feeling vulnerable.
Dr. Lopez came in to review the plan and do my markings with the same warm energy he’d had at every appointment. Seriously, is he ever in a bad mood?! He made me feel like he had time for me.
The anesthesiologist was also kind and reassuring. I’m a little fuzzy on his name, so I’ll leave that out—please charge it to the margarita cocktail I was given through my IV before surgery!
EARLY RECOVERY
I don’t remember waking up or being wheeled out. My next memory is waking up comfortably back where we were staying, ready for another nap. The long-acting numbing shot also deserves an honorable mention because it helped me so much during those first 24–48 hours.
AN UNEXPECTED CHANGE IN PLANS
I arrived on October 13, had surgery on October 15, and planned to stay until October 22. On October 18, my husband became ill back home, where he was caring for our three boys while my sister traveled with me. He has a heart condition that had been stable since 2017, but he ended up being admitted to the hospital.
Being in Texas recovering while my husband was hospitalized in New Jersey was a lot. I reached out to Dr. Lopez and asked whether he could see me and consider clearing me to fly home early, only if he felt it was safe.
He made time to examine me on October 19 and explained the travel precautions, what to watch for, and when to take it easier. After that evaluation, he cleared me to travel, and I flew home that evening. This was specific to my recovery and his assessment.
Being able to get back to my husband and kids after being examined and given clear instructions meant so much to me.
OVERALL
I would choose Dr. Lopez again without hesitation. From the consultation through an unexpected family emergency, I felt informed, heard, and supported. I’m looking forward to seeing my results as the swelling settles, but I can already say I’m very happy with the care I’ve received.
