2 weeks post-op - blown away at how easy this recovery has been

ORIGINAL POST

Smooth Recovery

WORTH IT

I will add photos at a later date. I haven't been good at taking them. I am 2wpo and I am blown away at how easy this recovery has been. I had a BA, TT, MR, Lipo on flanks.

I've had friends have similar procedures who went elsewhere and their recovery had me worried. I understand each patient will recover at different rates and recovery looks different for everyone based on many variables. I've been following this page for over a year and a couple Facebook groups as well. Seeing photos of the horrific bruising, the scars, the hunched over bodies, the swelling, the pain had me worried.

I stopped taking pain meds about 4 days in and probably could have stopped earlier, but I kept up on them because I had heard how painful it would be if I didn't. I was afraid I'd be hunched over with a walker and be so swollen I'd be miserable. My breasts are still very swollen, but not uncomfortable or painful. I was afraid I'd still be sore or moving very slowly. Heck, day 6 I was up cooking dinner for my family with no issues. I eat healthy, drink lots of water, wear good compression, and make sure I do rest more and listen to my body, but this recovery has been a dream compared to what I thought I'd be in for.

I'm probably telling on myself because I doubt I'd be really released to do this if I asked, BUT I have felt so good I knew I could handle it. Yesterday I was able to sit in the car for the drive to KC, stand through a tailgate, stand most of that amazing game, walk all the way back to the car, and ride home without any real discomfort. I was more worn out than I would normally be, but for 2wpo I felt incredible.

I'm not here to say recovery will be simple for everyone. It's still recovering from a major surgery, BUT I do know that the extensive training and the protocols a surgeon uses for prep, surgery, and recovery matter. The techniques and extra care taken through it this journey by Dr. Prada and his staff made a difference. My recovery process was vastly different than my friend's recovery who went elsewhere. They were in so much pain and one had a lot of trouble recovering from just a BA. They also paid a lot less. Price doesn't always correlate to a better surgeon, but this was my personal experience.

Dr. Prada and his team are worth every penny. Having a smooth recovery and being able to get back to life sooner is so important and I'm thankful to have made the drive to his office for my surgery.
