Year and a half check in
WORTH IT$16,600
Can’t believe how fast the time goes! Last few months have been spent at home like most people. My husband set up a pretty nice gym in our garage so I was able to keep working out and stay sane during lock down. I had a body fast test the other day and I’m sitting at 13% so I am happy with my fitness level. It’s hard to see in pictures, but I definitely have some abs for the first time in my life! I have also been running about 45-50 miles a week but I feel like it’s time to tapper that number down.
As for surgery, I’m still over the moon happy with my results. As you can see in my pictures I do have one spot that needs revised. I had a revision once but I think I didn’t give myself enough down time to heal and it pretty much healed back the same as before. Now that my state has opened more, I’ll be calling the Dr to get the new revision set up. This time I’ll be good and actually take time to heal. Hope everyone is healing and doing well!

Just over a year!
Wow what a year it has been! The biggest thing I have experienced since having surgery is how much better my running has become! Apparently when you actually have abs in the right place, running is made easier lol. I have set some new records for myself like 8 miles at a 7:30 pace, and a few weeks ago I actually won a 5k! Still also doing weight training about 3 times a week and running about 30-35 miles a week. I just started in Marathon training. Over all I’m down about 5 pounds since surgery and I’m happy with that. This was about looking and feeling better, not weight loss.
I did have to have another procedure about a month ago. Apparently you have some permanent internal stitches in the center of the tummy tuck. Well mine were causing me to have electric shooting pain! My Dr had to remove them and I have had no issues with it ever since. I’m still re healing in the center as you can see in my pictures. I did develop a small hole and it is just now about fully closed. I was put on antibiotics for 10 days as well because is got really red and hard and was leaving lots of fluid. It was almost more of a disturbance then the original tummy tuck! Another week and I’ll be able to start scar therapy on it.
I would totally do this process all over again if I had to! It has been worth every tear, penny, and pain filled moment.

Your posts make me so excited for recovery. I am going for my 2 week PO appt today. Like you, I am an avid runner and feel like everyday I am missing it more and more. Thank you for the insite, you have made amazing progress & look awesome.
Thank you!! Going from being so active to not is so hard! It's almost harder when your head says you want to do it but your body says no way lol. Remember to take it easy for a few more weeks ;) Congratulations on your journey!
When you got the ok to start working out / running again, did you continue to wear a compression garment? If so, what kind ?
I did for the first few weeks. The first few runs I ran with a bra and sports bra over it. Then I also ran with the compression garment that I got at Walmart. There is a picture in my review somewhere of it. After a few weeks I just based it on how far and how hard of a run I did if I needed it or not. I ran a 15k about 8ish weeks post op, and I definitely wore it for that!
Awesome, thank you !!! I hope to be running that much by 8 weeks!
Is that "hole" from stitches still there? I have one in my belly button the size of a pin...it's weird...my PA dug around in there but there seems to be no explanation for it
Nope no stitches! The hole is filled in but not fully healed just yet at this point. It's just a weird spot that decided to not heal together. They told me it's mostly from not taking the down time after. The day after I went to boot camp and worked out lol, and never took a rest day from running.
Ummmm.....u were running the day after Mommy Makeover???
Oh lord no! After I went in and had the permanent stitches removed and the scar revised, I was running the next day.
Still....very impressive....I took six weeks off after revisions in December....the inscisions were extensive and I wanted to be sure they healed properly but back in the gym yesterday and today.... tomorrow....etc...lol
Question, did the doctor insert the implant above or under the muscle?

6 months post
6 months!
I finally made it to 6 months! Honestly at this point I am back to my regular pre surgery self. Running a minimum of 25 miles a week, and strength training 3-4 times a week. My mile times keep getting better too so that’s exciting! The scars are fading more and more. I have some spots where you can hardly see them. All my csection scars faded really well so I’m sure it just takes time. I saw the Dr last week and he said everything was healing great. I had asked him about a lump I felt in my boob and he said it was a ball of scar tissue. Just have to be more diligent with massage, but at 1 year he can remove it if it’s still there and bothering me. Here are some pictures from this morning :) Hope everyone is healing well!

You and I are both 6 months post op with our mommy makeover. You look fantastic. I love how full your breasts look. That's the desired look I want after i lose another 10-20 lbs. I'm just afraid of losing boobs. Do you have any restrictions being 6 months out?
Nope no restrictions per the Dr. I do notice that pulling on my abs is still a little touchy. Like I took my kids to the park and I tried to do the monkey bars. The pull from it was too much for me. I can do crunches and what not just fine, but the stretch of them is a little painful. With the implant and your own tissue that you have, I don’t think you will need to worry about loosing any! I’m assuming it’s muscle, but I’m actually the same weight I was as before surgery. Just remember that the scale number is not always a true representation. You look great!!!
Your fitness level is inspiring....are u doing any core training since muscle repair?
Yes I am! I found an app that was a 30 day challenge. I also find videos on Pinterest and try and do them and then use some of the moves at the gym. There is one I really like called Lazy Girl Work out by Pop Sugar. It’s 10 min and you dont even get off the floor lol. They also have some that are standing abs and I really like those as well. I learning that there are so many new ways to work the abs without just doing crunches.
That's great! The hardest part sometimes is just getting started. I noticed for me when I lay flat, my insicional scar feels super tight and pulls. I think that's just normal, since we were uses to having so much excess skin for so long.
Getting started is SO hard! I have a watch that tracked my steps and what not. I try and make it my goal to at least hit that every day except the rest day I take. Having a desk job makes that really hard, and I have jogged in place next to my bed many times before Ill go to sleep just to hit the goal hahaha. My Dr actually told me that I needed to lay flat twice a day for like 5 min each to get things stretched (but good stretch) like they should. I had to really focus on getting my lower back on the ground because it was so used to being up with my lack of abs.
