Three Months!
He told me the little overlap flap on the side may go down a little and if it doesn't he'll numb up the area and fix it (eek). My next appointment is ONE YEAR from surgery. Wow.
Oh and he also told me my body will continue to change due to the surgery for up to a year. So, here's hoping for an even BETTER "after" (not that I dont love this one).
I really have to take new body measurements. Id love to know if those changed.
Almost at my 3 month P.O.!
Nothing has changed drastically. I am no longer wearing compression garments at any time (after 6 weeks I moved to at night only and after 8 weeks to nothing at all). My scar and stomach is still tender at a rough touch (like a 4 year olds kick in the belly) but on a day to day basis doesn’t “hurt” at all. I have been back at the gym full time (which is almost every day, maybe 5-6 days a week of HIIT workouts). Most days I feel great about my overall body image ! I love not having a muffin top or belly anymore. I am only really starting to be able to wear things like bikinis without feeling self conscious (an ingrained fear I guess). I still don’t like how sleeping on my stomach feels but I have done it a few times since the surgery. I haven’t measured lately but I really should - I wonder if anything has changed since the last time.
That’s about all I can think of ... we just came home from a vacation in St Lucia and my stomach, for the first time ever has a little sun tan! And, although I was kind of concerned I would get asked about my red belly button (or scar peaking out) from a family member who doesn’t know - that never actually happened. Which is amazing. Haha
PS - see the vertical scratch on my belly? My Golden Retriever was a bit excited to see me when we returned home from our vacation and jumped on me/ scratched from my belly button down (but only broke a little skin on the belly button scar). I don’t think it should create any lasting damage! Fingers crossed anyway!
6 weeks P.O.
I feel good - back at the gym although I’m trying to take it easy (I’m doing maybe 75-80% of what I was doing before, which was a lot then). I ran 3 plus miles several times with zero issues as well. Being in the gym makes me happy; so I’m glad for that part of the recovery.
My stomach is still very tender and numb in many spots as well as some areas in my bra line (which had lipo). My incisions are okay, the sides of my stomach are sort of overlapped (this has a name ... forgot what it is — see pics) but honestly - the trade off for a flat stomach was the scar and I’m okay with that!
Sleeping is much better but I still can’t sleep on my belly, which for me is ideal.
I’ve been going CG-less during the day (but I do wear some sort of compression to The gym) and wearing something to bed. At night, around dinner time, my stomach starts to feel super tender - I assume from swelling.

A friend of mine introduced me to Dr. Schulman by saying: "You should follow this plastic surgeon on Instagram, he does amazing work! He was written up by Vanity Fair as one the of the best Plastic Surgeons in the US." I followed her advice and within a few weeks I was sold on the idea of having some work done. I had my consultation expecting to get a BBL but Dr. Schulman (very patiently) explained that lipo of my abdomen wouldn't help with the droopy belly I have (which is really my problem area). Dr. Schulman is professional and did not make me feel rushed, embarrassed or like I was being pitched by a salesman. He is relaxed, funny and a very nice person. I highly recommend Schulman for plastic surgery.
