The positive reviews on Realself, as well as a recommendation from a local Medical Spa, led me to Dr. Badar Jan at ASA. Everyone at ASA is so friendly and helpful and Dr Jan had the most incredible bedside manner. He listens patiently and doesn’t suggest things just to upsell. He’s a consummate professional and gentleman, asking if he can open the gown every time. He is thrilled when you bring pictures/ideas of what you would like. When considering implants for my augmentation, we throughly discussed size and landed on 550-600cc, agreeing 650 was too big for my small frame.

Friday-surgery day— on surgery day, I decided to go with 600 cc. I was so worried I’d have a difficult time with general anesthesia but Dr Wong at St Luke’s Sacred Heart campus is truly amazing. The first time in about 25 years when I had general anesthesia and didn’t feel queasy or have my bladder stay “asleep” we’ll after the procedure .

I remember coming out of recovery and joking about not knowing the guy waiting for me at the end of the hall (my boyfriend!) The nurses made sure I ate and had gluten free snacks for me since I’m intolerant and made sure I urinated before I went home.

Came home around 8:30pm. Stayed on top of my pain meds (Hydrocodone every four hours). The pain was significant and I barely could do anything. The liposuction numbness/itchiness was very uncomfortable as was the drains. The compression garment and bra also take some getting used to. (Still wearing nipple guards a month later bc my nipples are always hard and sensitive like when I nursed my child!)

Needed help with literally everything just about every 5 minutes. It was so hard to find a comfortable position to sit and sleep in as I am aside and stomach sleeper. I ended up sleeping in my motorized recliner for the first three weeks. I definitely understand why they say you need help the first week. I had 0 energy and couldn’t even hold a mug to make coffee. No reaching into cabinets or the refrigerator, either!

?1 week later- Had my post-op appointment first thing in the morning. Still walking hunched over and we decided to keep the drains in. Can’t do much of anything on my own… literally still can’t reach for things in the fridge, cabinet, wipe my own behind, shower etc. transitioned from pain meds to Tylenol and ibruprofen. I got in my car later that day thinking I can drive and move the wrong way and felt my breast pull very uncomfortably. I then went back inside and decided not to go anywhere and looked at my breast and noticed a big bruise. I texted Dr. Jan the next day and he was so kind and patient with me.

?Week 2 - I drove myself to my appointment which was interesting… just took it slow. The worst “Pain” is honestly the nerve pain from Lipo, and not being able to lift arms or myself out of bed or off the couch although overall discomfort is decreasing by the day. Drainage slowing down. The NP removed my drains and I was put in compression shorts that feel like sausage casings. Btw, drain removal doesn’t hurt at all… just feels like when your pregnant and the baby hiccuped in the womb!

?Wednesday week 3- still occasionally taking Tylenol, I can do a little more around the house. No laundry, mopping, vacuuming but light food prep and dishes. I actually had a quick business trip/flight this week but the doctor showed me I would be able to go. I was able to walk around without getting too fatigued however I do think I ate too much sodium and bloated terribly. I’m still bloated and it’s week four. I have to get a better routine for using the restroom as Dr. Jan pointed out that he tightened up my stomach significantly and if it’s bloated it will stretch it out and I don’t want to ruin his work!

Week 4- still slow moving, a little sore but I can get myself out of bed and the nerve pain from the Lipo isn’t as bad. I can do laundry if I take it slow. I can cook more and am gaining more energy. Dr Jan did advise no working out yet… just stick with walking, and using bio oil or the silicone tape on the scars which I really don’t think are that bad. I will be sure to update and post weekly. I will say if you are on the fence about doing this, although this pain has been incredibly intense and recovery has been uncomfortable, I understand that this is a short time and like the doctor said I could’ve worked out and eaten so healthy but the loose skin from my pregnancy years ago would never ever give me a flat stomach. I wish I had done this eight years ago I really feel as though I wasted time and did not like my body for way too long and there was this solution but I didn’t want to accept it at the time because of finances and I didn’t want to go under general anesthesia for surgery.

If you’re curious about a Tummy tuck/mommy makeover/breast augmentation, go for a few consults and DO IT!! Go see Dr. Jan. He is THE BEST and truly an artist!

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm considering a consult with Dr Jan for a MMO. Did you have a lift with your augmentation? And 360 lipo with tummy tuck?
