My inability to shift stubborn weight around my midsection and hips led me to consider a mummy makeover

ORIGINAL POST

Best Decision I Ever Made!

WORTH IT
I had been considering having a breast reduction for about 10 years, but after breastfeeding two big babies and c section deliveries, I was so unhappy with my body. My abdominal muscles were so destroyed that I was getting daily back pain, and my body shape, and my inability to shift stubborn weight around my midsection and hips led me to consider a mummy makeover.
I had my first meeting with Dr Ellis Choy over the phone, due to COVID 19, in September 2020. Ellis talked me through various options for surgery, and we discussed expectations, risks and costs. I decided to proceed with a Mummy Makeover, including Breast Lift with Implants and Tummy Tuck surgery. I booked in for April 2021.
Throughout the months preceding my surgery, I found Dr Choy and his entire team an absolute pleasure to deal with. The staff at Zilver linings provided a wealth of knowledge, and were wonderful at answering the million questions I had, and also at calming my nerves as my date approached.
Dr Ellis Choy is an artist. I’m beyond thrilled with the work he has done on my body, I have regained confidence, and my back no longer gives me any pain. I’m comfortable in my skin again, in a way I have not been in 20 years.
But more than that, when I experienced complications from the anaesthetic, Dr Choy’s fast thinking saved my life. He is truly a compassionate and understanding surgeon, and I would recommend him and his team to anyone considering surgery.

Results are outstanding, doesn't look like the same person
Hi navraja22! I assure you, it’s me! I’m beyond thrilled, seeing myself in the mirror naked these days is kind of amazing
Well congratulations!!!
You look amazing! Did you have liposuction with your tummy tuck? Congrats on your great outcome! Can I ask what problem you had under anesthesia?
Hi lindyshellp! Nope, no lipo! I actually ended up with Pulmonary Embolism as a result of the anaesthetic. In the days following my surgery and was unable to move around very much. It’s hard to pin down when it occurred, as clots are a rare but real side effect of any surgery, but Dr Choy was amazing, and his quick thinking really did save my life.
Thank goodness! What were the symptoms? I'm having a tummy tuck next month and I want to be aware. Thank God you had such a great doctor and you are OK !
The first symptom was generally being breathless, super tired and not being able to move around much. At first I just thought it was because I’d had such a massive op. As the days ticked over I started getting a really nasty pain in my left shoulder, which I thought was just from not being able to lay comfortably at night and pulling myself up on the handrail after using the toilet, but actually was one of the clots pressing on a major nerve group. Then the day I called my surgeon, a week after surgery, I couldn’t breath properly at all. I couldn’t talk or walk without pain, breathing hurt and I just wasn’t functioning. I made it to hospital with about 48 hours to spare the doctors said. It was terrifying, but I got through it. I guess if I’m looking for a silver lining, while I was in hospital recovering I was given so much pain relief for the PE that I had no surgical pain whatsoever. Gotta take the good with the bad I guess! Good luck with your surgery! You won’t regret it, I hope it goes really well x
Wow! I'm so glad that you are OK now. What a scary experience though!
