Mommy Makeover, Atlanta GA, Dr. Amy Alderman
WORTH IT$21,000
My journey has been a long time coming, 2 teenagers, a saggy belly and breasts that are like pancakes pointing towards my shoes. It’s not pretty. I interviewed multiple surgeons each had their own qualities and prices in a wide range. I had some specifics that were very important, scar placement, belly button, breast size and shape, and most important, safety. When I met Dr. Alderman I explained the things I wanted and she understood. She showed exactly how she places the scar low and how she could lipo my hips, how she could lipo the area that oozes over my bra and how they would sit me up in surgery to find the perfect size for my breasts. I felt like of all the surgeons I met with she “got me”. I’m scheduled for a mommy makeover on December 27th and I’m traveling from out of state.

Pre-op Visit complete
I had my pre-op visit and I absolutely LOVE all the ladies there. I met with Ling to go over the financial part and pay the remainder of my balance. Then I met with Michelle who is one of Dr. Alderman's nurses who went through all of the pre-op details. She went through all the meds I can and cannot take, the prescriptions I need for surgery, ordered a copy of my mammogram, wrote me an order for the blood work I needed and last but not least the dreaded before photos.
Later in the day I saw the photos on the touchMD app they had me download. You see... I've never actually took a nude photo from behind so I had NO CLUE how bad those bra bulges were on my upper back. How on earth would I be able to wear a fitted shirt with my new perky boobs and flat tummy with those rolls on the back? I immediately emailed for a quote to add those to the list of things to liposuction. I ended up adding an overnight after surgery along with lipo to my upper and lower back.
I also met with Katie, the surgical nurse who I've been emailing with. She is fabulous. I have literally emailed her 10 questions at a time and she emails me back with very detailed answers. I definitely get the feeling from all of them that they know EXACTLY what I want from this surgery. They are women after all who also want to wear a bikini and know where to hide the scars! It's not something I've taken lightly and they have been very compassionate and helpful and put my mind at ease.
One more week until the big day! I'm excited and nervous all at the same time. I've felt like I had lost my shape, scarified my body to bring my children into this world and I can't wait to feel comfortable in my own skin! I'll never have my 19 year old shape again, but I'm looking forward to making this 41 year old body the best it can be!

Surgery Day!
I made it. I got the call the day before to check in at 10 am. My surgery would be around 11:30 am and to bring all the meds I was prescribed and anything I wanted to eat during the over night. I had a urine test, a blood test, a Zantac and a shot in the thigh of a blood thinner. Dr Joiner talked with me quite awhile while getting my IV in. She was great and has two sons just like myself. She made me very comfortable and I’m usually sweaty and nauseous around needles. The last thing I remember was Dr Alderman drawing on me and walking into the bright surgery room.
I think my surgery was over around 6 or 7 pm. I woke up outside the operating room where they had prepped me for surgery. I remember asking for water many times but never wanting anything to eat. I had a heart rate monitor on my finger, a blood pressure cuff, a catheter, 2 drains and 2 nurses watching me. Probably a bunch more stuff but that was all pretty blurry. I had been required to add an overnight to monitor me after so many procedures at once, which gave me some relief as I wouldn’t want to put all that on my husband in a hotel.
They called my husband and I left around 6 am and headed back to the hotel for another night before heading home. I was taped up really well, put in a compression garment and a binder so I won’t see any results until my 1st post op check up in 6 days. My husband said he saw my waist before I was wrapped and it looked like my 20 year old stomach. He gets lots of brownie points for that! He’s been very supportive about my desire to get rid of the lose skin and stretch marks but has consistently said I didn’t need it, and he’s never noticed the flaws I so badly wanted fixed. So this was all for me.
