Mommy Makeover at 50!
WORTH IT$16,500
I've thought about getting a Mommy Makeover for many years - I had three kids that are now 16, 17, and 18. My body just never recovered from gaining and losing 60 lbs three years in a row. I had a breast lift, lips on my flanks, and a full abdominoplasty.
I read _every_ review on this site. I have to say that for me it was a bit of a mistake as it just wasn't as difficult as the reviews portray. The procedure was about 2-3 hours total. I really needed help for the next day but after that I was moving around. That said, I don't have little kids any more so that would have been an issue.
I slept in a bed from day one. I did this the week before Christmas as we had plans to stay home. I was able to shop and do errands the few days before Christmas. By the end of the day I was pretty exhausted for sure.
The biggest inconvenience is the drains, but even with that, it wasn't too bad. I had four (one didn't come out for 20 days!) but, now, eight weeks later, it's barely remembered. Oh - and the coughing. Ouch.
Now the good: I FEEL AMAZING. I did not do this for weight loss though I could surely stand to lose a few pounds. I was sick of my stomach and boobs being so disproportionately large and droopy compared to the rest of my body. I wanted my clothes to feel good. I wanted to be able to wear a dress, a t-shirt, work outfits, and normal pants that I didn't have to buy two sizes up then hem. Eight weeks later: I have that! I literally feel the way I used to.
Dr Hartley's office is without a doubt the most professional. It is an intensely personal decision to have this type of work done. The whole team handled each visit and the procedure with just the right amount of encouragement (not sales-y), knowledge, and kindness.
One other thing about Dr Hartley: I did not know exactly what I wanted and needed. I knew I wanted to be able to run and hike without my boobs hurting but that I didn't want them too small. I am not sure how he was able to take those sparse details and make my girls amazing, but he did. And, I have _never_ had such a flat stomach, even before kids. Wow.
As I said above, I would never be considered skinny (even now), but it was about feeling good for me. Let's just say after almost 20 years since my first pregnancy, it's nice to be pleasantly surprised when I look in the mirror :)
