I have been contemplating on having this surgery done for years. I've deleted and installed this app several times. My only concern has always been safety. I was diagnosed with benign PVCs a couple years ago and hope it will not impede with my surgery. Well here I am and I finally booked my surgery today and setting up medical clearance appointments with my cardiologist and PCP. I'm scheduled for early December with Dr Alex Earle at Pure Plastic Surgery in Miami (his private practice). He has some incredible credentials and great reviews. I feel it's important to let you all know that initially I was scheduled for a consultation with him at Avana Plastic Surgery. I drove up from Key West only for a very young lady to tell me he isn't in the office that day but if I wanted to take advantage of the end of summer special they had going on I would need to schedule ASAP (without seeing the doctor first). Moving forward she did not have the surgery date available that I wanted and suggested a much later date. I explained I had a small window for recovery in which I had to return to work where I am a massage therapist. This silly girl tried to convince me that I only needed 3 wks to recover to return to my job as a massage therapist. Luckily I know better. I ended up seeing the doctor at his private practice and it was a completely different atmosphere than Avana. I didn't feel pushed and the staff seemed more qualified. (I have since found out he is no longer contracted with Avana yay!) Needless to say I scheduled with Dr Earle and feel confident in his surgical skills. I am now going to start researching recovery houses vs hotel stays. I will be by myself so I will need to find some help for recovery. I am open to any referrals or suggestions or comments!

I am having a MMO in December with Dr Earle as well. I was originally scheduled at Avana but have switched to Pure since the fall out. I got to keep my original surgery date which was important to me. I already had my flights and hotel booked. I am relieved to say the least I am with his private practice now.

I'm scheduled in November now. So happy he got away from Avana! He seems much better than that place. Are you staying in a recovery house?

No I am staying in a hotel. My husband is coming with me and figured he would be more comfortable in a hotel with just us. I’ve hired a private nurse for the first two days.

My boyfriend can't stay a whole week with me so he'll be dropping me off post surgery at a recovery house. I finally booked one I felt safe with. There are so many!!! Was almost harder than picking a surgeon!!

Getting closer

FLkeysgirl
I did my over the phone 30 day pre op interview the other day. My date is getting closer and I’m feeling really good about my decision to proceed but still a bit anxious. My coordinator at Dr Earle’s office, Yanisi, has been very communicative. Anytime I shoot her an email with questions, she responds right away. I have an appointment scheduled with my PCP next week for my final medical clearance and I don’t foresee any problems there. I have been taking iron and Emergency-C daily for the past few weeks to help build my immunity and hemoglobin. I’ve never had issues before but I want to be as healthy as possible. Pre surgery instructions came with a large list of medications and supplements that I should stop taking 2 weeks pre surgery to keep things safe. So thankful I chose a caring and cautious team of health professionals. I’ll probably post pre surgery photos the day of surgery. Anybody else having surgery in November?

I made it through surgery! I’m sure we all have the same fears of not waking up but I did and I was convulsing terribly from the anesthesia. They had me wrapped in blankets a large tube blowing hot air under them. It was a pretty rough start. I’m extremely happy I got the exparel shot! I can’t imagine the pain without it! I was still in terrible pain and stiff from my neck to my toes. And definitely questioning my sanity in all this. But I just keep telling myself how amazingly worth it this going to be! I can’t believe my overhanging belly skin is all gone! I am staying at Body Vice recovery house and they have been absolutely amazing! They had a walker here that has been a godsend! I went to my post op appointment and got to see my results so far. I have a lot of swelling at the top of my abdomen and I think it was because the binder was on too tight. The staff at Dr Earles are absolutely the best! I am incredibly happy with the choice I made for surgeon and recovery house! Do your research ladies! I’m including pre op photos and my post op visit photo. I’ll update again soon!
