38 Year Old Twin Mom

TwinMommaMakeover
WORTH IT$18,899
I am a 38 year old mother of Twins. I am 5’8” and 155 lbs. My twins are 18 months old. Before I got pregnant with them I was very active, constantly working out. Now, I have to squeeze my workouts in when I can and have been struggling to get my body back. No amount of dieting can flatten my tummy. In two days I am getting a mommy makeover. The procedure will include tummy tuck with muscle repair, breast lift and augmentation (approx 500cc Natrelle full profile...aka high profile gummies), and lipo of the flanks. I have had larger boobs my whole life and they have never been perky. My wish is to have perky boobs for once in my life and to actually be able to go braless....which I have NEVER been able to do! I’m excited to get my confidence back. Don’t get me wrong, I’m so thankful for this body and what it was capable of creating, but I’m ready to feel normal again and not pregnant anymore. Also, for anyone interested my breast width is 13cm. I am also getting the Exparel pain injection, so I will update my thoughts on that.
I am starting to get nervous about this procedure and not being able to pick my babies up. Hopefully the healing will go quickly and I can hold them again sooner rather than later.

Thank you! Do you have any day of or day after tips? I feel like an elephant stomped on my chest!

Congrats to a new you Twinmomma! I'm 6 weeks tomorrow and I would do this all over again. In my opinion, the best things you can do day one and the entire first week are letting people help you. Make sure you stay on top of your pain meds and get all of the rest you can. If you are used to doing everything for everyone, you may feel a bit helpless, but it is only temporary. I'll be honest, I was so drugged up on meds that I dont remember most of the first four days. I absolutely hate taking pills, but it definitely helps the comfort level. If you haven't started taking a stool softener, I would add that to your daily regimen until you are able to have a BM. Surgery, anesthesia, and pain meds can take a toll on the good old bum muscles. Also make sure you get a lot of protein in your diet, it will help with muscle repair and recovery :) I had no appetite for solid foods, so I had my husband make smoothies for me :) Or I would just have my favorite protein powder. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B06XFNYZCT?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd_title This is the link for it.
I didn't get the elephant on the chest feeling with my implants, but the tightness and swelling get better every day :) Drinking a lot of water will do a world of good for the swelling. I drink anywhere from 150-200 of water a day, but I also love my water :) I just keep a water bottle with me at all times (24oz) and fill it 6-8 times throughout the day. Try to avoid salt the best you can. I'm prone to swelling if I even look at salt lol and for the first few weeks, I would avoid alcohol (lesson learned the hard way). You will return to the "swell hell". Remember not to over do it when you start feeling better. That was a hard part for me. This surgery was quite humbling for me as I was always the one to do everything at home. I hate asking for help, but it is better than hurting yourself. We are similar stats. Im 5'9" and 165ish pounds. I had mentor high profile unders. 400cc in my right and 425cc in my left. I would have loved to have gone with 500ccs! I'm so excited for you and excited to see your results:) Recovery may seem like it's never-ending, but the time goes by faster than you think. Happy healing and feel free to ask me any questions. I'll do my best to answer.

Oh wow! This is great information! Thank you so much for the encouragement too! You and I are quite similar. I also love water (I have a bottle I carry with me everywhere an constantly refill) and I swell at the sight of salt. My husband has been great about helping and about the pain meds so far. I am definitely going to start with the stool softeners! I remember having a heck of a time going while on Norco after my c-section! I will definitely reach out if I have more questions. I just woke up for day 2 and am sooooo sore!

I bet you are! My back was the worst from being hunched over. That is where I felt all of my pain. It was like going into labor all over again ;) I'm prone to constipation so I started the softeners 2 days before surgery and found a couple great smoothie recipes that keep the bum happy :) they keep really well in the fridge too.
Days 1 and 2 (makes a lot!) Sip over 2 days
-1 peeled orange, pith left on
-1 pear or apple, cored, unpeeled
-2 stalks celery
-1 cup fresh pineapple
-1-2 persian cucumbers, or half regular cucumber (not peeled)
-2 handfuls of rinsed baby spinach
-1 banana
-1/2 avocado
-1 whole slice or wedge of lime
-1/4 cup whole oats
-1 tablespoon chia seeds
-2 tablespoons ground flax seed
-2 cups orange juice
-1 heaping scoop of vanilla flavored protein powder
Day 3 and 4 sip over these 2 days.
-1 apple, cored
-1 banana
-1/2 avocado
-1/4 cup prunes
-2 handfuls of rinsed baby spinach
-1 heaping scoop of vanilla protein powder
-1 table spoon chia seeds
-2 tablespoons ground flax seed
-1 cup prune juice
-1/2 cup orange juice

They are delicious!

Take it easy and dont feel ashamed or bad about askng for help.. i like being independent so it was hard to keep asking my husband for this and that(he of course didn't mind) but I dont like the feeling of not doing simple things my self.. so it was more of a mind struggle. Keep a positive attitude as the mind is a powerful thing.. im a firm believer that you get what you ask for with positive thought so keep your thoughts positive and know this is a very long healing process and above all know that you are not alone as their are tons of ladies in this site to help you along your journey when needed!!! Happy healing

Looks yummy!!!!Ive been juicing since january and wow has it helped my skin and healing process I think.. I took a picture of my ingredient list in my review!!
June 7, 2018
I've always thought about juicing. How do you think it compares to eating the whole fruit or veggie?

Juicing is so much easier bc its so condensed..you cant get all those nutrients in in one day.. at least I cant eat all of that in veggies so its incredible! I also consume spirulina, Chlorella, wheat grass and moringa powders!
June 8, 2018
I think I eat about 6 cups of vegetables a day between lunch and supper. 3 cups cooked 3 cups raw. And I also eat a crapload of fruit.

I plan too. I have a pic up with a question about my tattoo. I have 5 children with the last 2 a set of twins. They are going to be 16 next month. I have been waiting a long time to have this done. I am not as tall as you, I am only 5'2",do you like the 500cc implants? I am going with gummies too, just not sure of the cc 's yet.
June 6, 2018
I had a tattoo too, the doc said to say goodbye to it! Lol! It was an 18 year old mistake. I’ll be happy to see it gone. So far I can’t tell what I think about the implants...honestly I don’t even know if he went with 500cc’s or not. He was going to try on a few once he got in there. I’ll find out at post op tomorrow morning.
UPDATED FROM TwinMommaMakeover

Surgery day!

TwinMommaMakeover
Today was surgery day and I was so nervous going in. I had a moment in the pre-op area where I broke down because the thought of not being able to hold my kids for weeks makes me so sad. The nurse was great and calmed me down.
My Doctor was so good at calming my nerves pre surgery and the surgery center staff was great!
I’m in a bit of pain now, but counting down the minutes to my next pain pill. I have read here on Real Self that these first few days post op are the worst, so I’m glad I have that in mind. It feels like I’ve been badly burned in the tummy tuck area and my boobs feel like I did a thousand push-ups. It also feels like I have a lot of pressure on my chest. They said all of this is normal. I’m excited to see the results!

Welcome to the other side! Yes, this is the toughest part but starting day 3/4 you'll start to notice you're feeling a bit better each day. Be patient and kind to yourself. Recovery is a marathon, not a sprint. Happy healing!
June 25, 2018
It’s fun to see your posts because you’re just a week or so ahead of me! Looking good, Mama!
June 26, 2018
Thank you!! :) I totally agree! I love looking at the progress all of us are making! It has really helped my get through this process so far!
UPDATED FROM TwinMommaMakeover

Day 3 morning

TwinMommaMakeover
Good morning, I made it to day 3...it’s early day 3, but still day 3! I slept through the night last night and woke up only to take pain meds but my neck is so stiff!! I also woke up to a crazy burning sensation down my left side abs...I’m wondering if it’s the exparel wearing off? Other than that, I feel good...just really sore. My mother and father in law brought me a walker last night and that has helped me so much getting to and from the bathroom. My husband has been amazing being both mom and dad right now...and taking care of me!! I’m taking it really slow and listening to everything he doctor and nurses have told me. I don’t want to mess any of this up. Side note, still haven’t “gone” yet...had some prunes, MiriLax and some colace yesterday....fingers crossed!!
Thank you to the wonderful ladies who have sent me kind words and advice these last couple, it has meant so much and helped me so much!

Another day down! You will keep feeling better every day! The walker is the one thing that I wished I had, but I did rent a lift recliner and that saved my life lol That is great about your hubby! It makes a world of difference to have that help! If you still haven't gone after this round of mirilax, you could try getting a bottle of magnesium citrate, but follow the directions and don't drink the whole thing at once unless you want to live in the bathroom for the next 20-24 hours. I did this after I quit smoking and haven't gone for 7 days. I drank the whole bottle and had the butt pees 30 minutes later and very frequently until 9am the next morning. The stuff works great, but I really should have followed the directions haha
June 8, 2018
Butt pees!! OMG it hurts to laugh!! I may hv to try that though...I still haven’t gone. Did you ever get a really bad headache from sleeping sitting up? I have had a constant headache since yesterday.
June 8, 2018
It won't hurt to laugh for too much longer :) I had headaches, but I'm not sure what it was really from. The recliner I was in really reclined a long way back so I was never really sitting up while sleeping. Have you taken any ibuprofen or anything for the headache? I like ibuprofen because it's an anti-inflammatory as well.
June 8, 2018
I haven’t taken any ibuprofen...do you think it would be okay to take with the Norcos?
June 8, 2018
I don't know. You certainly don't want any bad reaction, so I would ask your PS. I prefer not to Google things like this because he will find so many different contradictory answers. I would play it on the safe side and just ask your surgeon.
June 8, 2018
Good call! I think I’ll call I’m today. How is your recovery coming along?
June 8, 2018
I'm doing pretty good. I just had my 6 week appointment this morning and got the all-clear to do anything I jolly well please now :)
June 8, 2018
Ugh! Lucky!!! I can’t wait to get to that point!!
June 8, 2018
You'll be there before you know it!
June 8, 2018
It gets better from here! I would have loved to have had the walker. You will have all kinds of weird burning sensations, and what I call zingers (quick little shots of sting) that go away. I was told that is all the nerves doing their healing. My PS asked every time if I was on a B complex vitamin and that it helped for the nerves to heal. Good luck on the "go" thing. I was so relieved once I went and even now at 3 months and 3 weeks if I skip a day I feel the pressure in my lower ab area (I guess now that all those muscles hold everything in, I can feel it when I need to go).
June 8, 2018
Thanks for the encouragement! It’s only been 4 days but it feels like forever!! That’s good to know about the B complex too!
