Tomorrow will be 2 weeks post

Hello! My surgery went well. I went into pre op pretty calm. The nurses and doctors (anesthesiologist) at Doylestown Hosp, were all very sweet and calming, even joking around to calm nerves. Dr. Chapin came in and marked me and my mom said, “take care of her she’s my baby.” And he said, “she’s my baby now” (obviously meaning during this surgery) which I thought was very nice and reassuring. Then I got some nice drugs in the IV and they started to wheel me to the OR. I remember going in the OR and having to move over from my bed to the table. I remember them putting the mask on and then... I woke up in post op. I had pain in between my boobs mid chest that the nurse asked me if I thought it was cardiac pain. I knew it was totally muscular and she gave me morphine and nothing throughout the day, could take that away until I got Motrin 800 in the IV later in the evening. Go figure. It wasn’t excruciating but it definitely hurt. My belly wasn’t even bothering me that much. I always heard your TT will be so painful, you won’t even notice your boobs, and it’s been the opposite with me to this day. Abs are sore and when you laugh, cough or heaven forbid sneeze, it’ll hurt, but definitely a lot better than what I’ve heard. My boobs have been sore from the get go, and now I have wound separation under both creases that adds to the soreness. But my doc has me doing ointment and gauze treatments 2x day for 3 weeks, saying that it’s a fairly common thing that happens with lifts. It’s because it’s the spot where’s there’s the most tension with the least amount of blood flow. I’m a bit bummed about it but this is part of the process. I love my boobs and my TT. My doctor and his nurses are amazing! They even had me come in after hours to look at my wounds when I noticed them this past Friday, late afternoon. I got there almost an hour after they closed. I’m also on another oral antibiotic to be sure. So, other than the minor complications, I think this was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. I’ve been walking pretty much straight ever since surgery. I did have to be drained in my pubic area last week due to a seroma. I felt faint and they warned me a lot of people feel faint. After I felt better, it wasn’t that bad. As you can see, sometimes you can’t avoid the little things that come along with surgery. But if you do everything your doc says, you’ll get through it. Feel free to ask any questions.

Morning of..

It’s almost 5am and I’m sitting waiting for my mom to get done getting dressed. I have to be there at 6:15. In about 15 mins I have to take the anti nausea pill with a sip of water. I’m a bit anxious but not too bad. I just want to get it over with and on the road to recovery and healing.

All of the questions...

So, last night I was scrolling through Facebook and I came across an article about textured implants and cancer. Ugh! Basically, it was saying that the company Allergan was going to give women who develop this cancer, $7500 towards replacement implants. Scary!!! That made me google textured vs. smooth implants and there doesn’t seem to be much evidence that textured is the better choice to prevent capsular contracture and flipping. So I think I’m definitely going with smooth.

Overall rating

So far, Dr. Chapin has been great. I only saw him for my consultation but immediately felt very comfortable with him as soon as he entered the room. His staff was all very nice. His office is very spa-like. A very good experience thus far.
