I gained weight in recent years and noticed in photos that my face doesn't carry the weight nearly as well as the rest of me! I've lost 20 pounds and need to lose about 25 more, and my neck doesn't seem to be keeping pace with the weight loss. So I was originally considering lipo, then heard about Kybella. Checked here and saw some terrible reviews and reconsidered. Then I called a well-reviewed plastic surgery center and they strongly recommended going in for a free Kybella consultation. The receptionist I talked to actually had the procedure herself and seemed very happy with it, said the injections didn't hurt and that she was seeing results even after one treatment. So I decided to go for it.
I went in and was explained the procedure, no new information beyond what you can learn by doing research online. I felt OK to continue, probably because I took some anxiety meds lol (I am very queasy about needles). First they iced my neck for about five minutes. No other numbing was needed. The doctor was a proficient injector - he does botox, acupuncture, etc. The needles were extremely tiny and I barely felt most of the injections. The ones I did feel were maybe as bad as an bug bite. I had 20 injections and 4 vials of Kybella.
There was a weird dull tight burning sensation, the worst of it was about 4-5/10 pain and it lasted about 5 minutes. For that time I had the ice pack back on me. I asked for a chin strap so I could keep the ice pack on for the drive home. When I got home a couple of hours later I took the chin strap off and I hadn't started swelling much yet. But the swelling certainly came not long after. I do have the bullfrog effect now 1 day later and hate it but this was expected. It is very round and jelly-like, and feels a bit numb. My husband says it doesn't look so bad but I'm not leaving the house. Hopefully it will come down soon. I will post pictures and updates as I get them.

Still swollen, as expected, but might have come down just a little. Still don't want to leave the house. It's only sore if I touch it. I've iced it once, haven't taken any anti-inflammatories. I take turmeric every day so not sure if that will affect the recovery.

Swelling is definitely coming down. My double chin looks about as big as it did last year before I lost 20 pounds. It feels itchy and numb still. Still not liking it but I felt OK to go out briefly today.
