42 Year Old with 3 Children Getting Lipo/ BBL with Dr Velilla - Miramar, FL
UPDATED FROM lahdidah
3 days post review
$4,500
So I had my procedure 3 days ago and overall I think everything went well. I read several reviews of Dr Velilla (Evolution MD) so I kinda had an idea of what to expect and my experience mirrored a lot of other people's experiences here.
I was called the night before and told to be at Evolution at 9:00am. However, I wasn't called in until around 11:00. This place is busy! When I was taken back I met with a MA (I don't recall her name) to go over paperwork and sign waivers. I'm from south Florida so I am used to a lot of Spanish speakers. But the MA knew no English at all. In another situation I would have felt more comfortable but since it was signing paperwork I felt that there should have been someone there who could speak at least basic English. Everything after meeting with her went very well.
I was taken back into a "pre-op" room were pictures were taken and I met with the anesthesiologist (who was really good with explaining what would happen). I also met with Dr Velilla's nurse who was amazing! He was so friendly and did a great job of calming my nerves. I can't remember his name but he was great. Then Dr Velilla came in we talked a little about my expectations and he marked me. I really like Dr Velilla. He's not big into small talk (but neither am I). He kept asking if I had any questions and I didn't even have to show him any wish pics because I felt he understood what I wanted. Eventually I was led into the surgery room and give general anesthesia. When I woke up I wasn't in much pain, the nurse fitted me with a garment and waited with me until my transportation arrived. I went into surgery weighing 162lbs and was given a large garment. I never really felt much pain even after going to my friends house for recovery. I left the surgery center at 5:45pm. Later on in the evening I was moving around great. I was surprised at how good I felt. The pain and soreness came the on day 2 post op. Also, I must add that even though it's early, I LOVE my body. Dr Velilla gave me exactly what I wanted. I will take pics later and
upload and also review the massages and how I'm feeling on a different post since this one is already getting long.

Pre-Op/ Met with Dr Velilla
Yesterday I had my Pre-Op appointment and appointment to meet with the Doctor. I was warned and prepared for a long day. I arrived at 11:00 am for my Pre-Op where they checked vitals, did an EKG and I was able to get instructions and prescriptions from the nurse. The nurse was really sweet and very informative. Then I went to meet with a Consultant to make my full payment and switch to general anesthesia. My Consultant was off so I had to meet with another Consultant and eventually a supervisor to correct some billing errors. My friend and I have the same Consultant and we both had errors with our quotes and pricing that had to be fixed. The supervisor (I think her name was Cathy) was really helpful and knew her stuff and was able to fix everything. Then we went upstairs and after about an hour wait, I was able to meet with Dr Velilla. He was very nice and kept asking if I had any questions. He was straightforward and gave me an idea of realistic expectations of my surgery outcome. I didn't feel the "diva" vibe that I read about in some of the other reviews. Overall I was there for 4 hours ( which I expected). Everything is on schedule for surgery in 12 days.
I'll also mention that my friend still has to get cleared by her Primary Doctor due to an issue with her EKG results. I really hope that she can get cleared in time because we've been planning this together for so long and we've really been each other's biggest support system.

Hi, my PreOp is on Feb 16, and the surgery on the 17, any suggestions?
February 3, 2017
Hi! My only real suggestion is to write down any questions you want to ask before you get there. It's easy to forget things when you're caught up in the moment. Also, I wasn't aware that I needed to get a chest X-ray as part of my pre-op since I was doing general anesthesia. I was given a list of places in the area to go to in order to get that done (not sure if this is the case with everyone). I ended up calling my insurance company and finding a place close to home to get the chest X-ray done since I wasn't too familiar with the area. Hope that helps. Good luck with everything!

Hello, I am schedule for preop on Feb 15 and surgery on the Feb 17. I went to get blood work today and about 10 mins after I left I received a phone call they forgot to tell me I need a chest xray, getting it done tomorrow. I am also having general. Have you starting taking any supplements or bought any supplies yet? Are you doing your massages with the Evolution? I am not sure when to schedule them.
Thank you
Thank you

Hi Nichelle1132, we should be in Miramar around the same time. My procedure is on the 14th and follow up is on the 15th. I'm not really taking any supplements yet. I have Arnica and will probably start taking that a few days before surgery day. As far as supplies, I have a pillow and some Arnica gel, Neosporin, and Bromelain and I bought a couple of maxi dresses for post surgery. I also have a portable urinal. Im not trying to go over board with extra stuff at this point. I did order a faja from amazon too. During preop I was told that I can also purchase a faja from Evolution on the day of surgery. Supposedly the Doctor determines which faja you'll need on surgery day. They're pretty pricey at Evolution though. I was also told that the day after surgery I need to come in for a follow-up and drainage massage. I plan to do no more than 2 massages at Evolution since I got a really good deal on massages closer to home. If I can, I'll probably get another massages the second day after surgery too. I plan to have at least 15 massages in order to avoid a bumpy liposuction-belly. I'm a week away from surgery day and so excited at this point. How are you feeling?
February 8, 2017
Good morning, Yes I am excited and nervous all at the same time. I agree I do not plan on going overboard with supplies. I was also thinking about only doing a few massages with Evolution too. What pillow did you get? I live in Fort Lauderdale. Do you live in the area too?

I also want to add we are the same age with the same amount of kids.. Girl we are about to get our pre-children bodies back.. LOL
February 8, 2017
LOL!! Yes!! Too bad my pre-baby butt was flat too. Funny thing is my husband wants me to go BIG, and I just want a natural look. I just want a little something back there. I told him that even with a "natural" look no one will ever believe that I didn't have surgery. And yes, I'm from Palm Beach county so we're kinda neighbors too!
February 9, 2017
Lol! That's too funny! Yes we are neighbors. Did you find someone else to do your massages? Did you get the BBL pillow?
February 9, 2017
Yes, a friend recommended a masseuse in Boca Raton which is not too far from me and I got a really good deal. I'm going to try to get 2 massages at Evolution (the first 2 days post-op) and from then on every other day for at least a month. I have the bbl pillow from amazon. Dr Velilla suggested that I get 2 pillows (1 for the car and the other for my office at work). That way I don't have to walk around with the pillow all day.
