Dishonest Doctor and Clinic

I find it amazing that Dr. Mayberry could never bothered to schedule a follow up or return my calls immediately after the procedure when things went badly, but can respond to reviews online. I am also disappointed about the false claims made by this provider in response to my post, as follows:

-COVID 19 wasn't a factor in this clinic abandoning me after a bad outcome- I had my procedure one month before any state shut downs or before COVID was being discussed. I had my procedure in person, and called the clinic about the bad outcome the next day. The numerous calls were prior to any discussion of COVID or any COVID shutdowns in the state weren't returned by Dr. Mayberry. The rude receptionist who called back was in fact still in the office working normally, no COVID shutdowns, and just kept saying the numbness would go away in a couple days. Of course, it didn't because it turned out severe nerve damage, per the doctor I saw on my own after this debacle because I didn't receive follow up care from Mayberry or his clinic.
-Dr Mayberry hopes my "symptoms" have resolved. I have diagnosed nerve damage which may not resolve at all. Obviously I posted that I still have arm numbness months after this procedure, so this is not a normal outcome at all and the "symptoms" have not resolved. Mayberry would know this if he had bothered to follow up and further assist me in finding a course of treatment, as he is required to do as a licensed physician. Abandoning patients is not part of the standard of care he is required to follow.
-Miradry may likely be safe for those who know how to use it. If the person was so well trained as Mayberry claims, why couldn't she turn on the machine, figure out how to apply the templates, ensure the machine worked correctly throughout the procedure? Why did severe nerve damage result - there is medical literature on this and why it occurs and how to ensure it doesn't happen. Mayberry's clinic was obviously ignorant in how to prevent the nerve damage that happened in my case.

We acknowledge your experience did not meet expectations for you nor for us at Mayberry Plastic Surgery. As a board certified plastic surgeon I am constantly looking to improve experiences for patients. The Miradry system works well, with short term complications up to several months, the RN caring and well trained. The office closure for Covid-19 disrupted our communications and I regret I did not get a chance to call you back. I will take your call and I hope your symptoms have resolved.

Severe Nerve Damage and Abandoned by Clinic

I received miraDry treatment at Dr. Mayberry's clinic. Because I have severe hyperhydrosis, I needed two treatments. The first treatment was uneventful. The second treatment a year later was done by a different woman than the one who did the first treatment. This woman didn't know how to turn on the machine, had to call someone in to show her how to do so, couldn't place the underarm template that had been no problem when I had it done the first time, and had problems placing the wand on my skin properly so that the machine would lose suction, which made the machine start and stop. At one point in treatment, I experienced extreme shooting pains from my underarm to my wrist on my right arm. After the treatment, this arm was completely immobile and numb. I couldn't even use my arm to turn the keys in the ignition to my car afterward and fumbled with my left hand. I I knew some numbness after the procedure was normal because of my first treatment, but when it persisted well into the second day, and I had no feeling from my armpit to my wrist, I knew something was really wrong. I called Dr. Mayberry's on-call service (this was over a weekend) and on Monday received a very rude call from a woman named Nicole stating numbness was normal and it would wear off in a few days. I called at various times over the next few months to let them know my entire arm was still numb. Never did Dr. Mayberry call me to check in on me or follow up, nor did they schedule any kind of follow up. A neurologist stated that I had in fact sustained nerve damage, and he didn't know if it would come back. I find that the the lack of training, experience, follow-up by Dr. Mayberry is absolutely shocking. This man should not be practicing medicine, and I am so thankful that I didn't opt for a surgical procedure if this is the type of patient care he thinks is acceptable.
