I am getting a septorhinoplasty to correct my septum, shave down a bump on my nose, and straighten my nose after trauma to it when I was a kid. I am very nervous about the whole thing, but for me, it is medically necessary - I can't breathe out of my nose!! It is ALWAYS runny and I sound nasally. I am excited to breathe again, but also excited for it to look straight and more appropriate for my face.
I decided to do this after my husband told me I was having trouble breathing at night - I think, though, that he is really excited about my nose not being crooked with a big bump on it anymore. My whole family, all my friends, school mates in grad school, and work colleagues are so supportive of it. I think they know it is a problem for me and know I am going to feel better when I can breathe again as well.
My insurance is paying for everything once I reach my deductible!
I am only nervous about all the bruising. I dont want to miss too much time from work. I am getting surgery on wednesday and hoping to be back by monday. I know I will still be bruised and all, but my co-workers are all understanding about it. In fact, I inspired another coworker of mine to get his septum fixed!
Any tips, advice, after care suggestions are greatly appreciated!
