I just turned 24 3 weeks ago. My birthday lands closely to my 1 1/2 years sober so I decided in celebration to get a tattoo I have wanted for years. I have spent the last two year looking on the Internet for pictures and ideas that closely matched what I was invisioning for my tattoo. I wanted to get a half sleeve with an outdoors theme. Tall evergreens, camp fire, moon and tent. I researched many different artists and studios and finally decided on one I thought could perfectly execute my idea. Long story short, I ended up with an etch-a-sketch, cartoony tattoo outline that I immediately hated. It's been almost a month since I got the tattoo and it still makes me sick to my stomach to look at. I can't eat or sleep and most days don't even want to get out of bed. It's horrible. I can't believe I've gotten myself into this mess. I've researched tattoo removal obsessively 24/7 since the day I got it. I found a clinic, went for a consultation and felt instant relief. However my first appointment is still over a month away and they are expecting it to take 10-12 sessions. I'm prepared for a long journey but everything ive read on the Internet is so negative it is making me very nervous. Has anyone had success or anything positive to say about their tattoo removal process? My tattoo is large, most of my upper arm but just a black outline. Any advice/positive comments would be greatly appreciated!! I need all the positivity I can get.

Well this is the place to be!! :) Welcome! Here we all have those feelings. What kind of laser are you considering? You should post a photo, then we can give you some honest opinions ;) I also have a large black tattoo and started the removal process a few months ago. Check out my review ;) Good luck

I updated and posted a few pictures of my tattoo...the clinic I am going to uses a q - switched laser. I was told I should have good results since it is on the upper arm and only black but I'm afraid of pigment changes since it's so large. Thanks for commenting! It feels good knowing I'm not alone in this

Hi. You are not alone. My first advice is to wait 6 months before start treatments because that long it takes to the pigment to settle in the place that can be removed. And the second advice is to take care of your skin, don't rush. You can put all the creams in the world but skin need time to complete heal. Drink a lot of water, green tea, work out, and most important, don't stress. I am in the same situation like you. My tattoo is 8x2 cm but i feel like it't huge because is on my forearm and i try to hide it and i feel depressed but this site helped me a lot. I wait until December to get rid of it. My plan is to wait 3-4 months between treatments, sound soooo long timp but i want to avoid any scarring. Good luck and take care of you. Sorry for my english.

Welcome to the community, I'm so glad that you joined in and decided to share your story. So sorry you're feeling down about this whole situation, tattoo regret is a really hard pill to swallow. Right now you're in the eye of the tornado but eventually the storm will calm, you'll see. Just take it one day at a time, try not to focus on what you don't like, and what you wish you didn't do, just move forward -- in fact, you already have as sharing your story is taking your first step towards finding the solution that works for you.

I thought I would share the following inspiration with you as you need a pick me up:

Thank you for sharing! Ugh j just can't wait to begin the removal process I feel like this has effected my life so negatively!

Your story is so similar to mine! I've been having an extremely hard time with my half sleeve as well, I have huge black pinetrees all over it and it ruined a tattoo I really liked before. If it helps at all, I think your art looks really sick and well done. But I totally understand wanting to get rid of it, as I am thinking of the same for mine too. I just never realized how much I would miss my natural skin showing, and it can be really hard because I miss wearing tank tops and not feeling self conscious. You mentioned that you've heard lots of negativity online, but I actually have heard so much positive stuff about removal. Yeah, its super expensive but can be really effective in moderation, and less hard on your wallet. Don't let it control your life, just own it and stay confident that it is NOT as permanent as everyone says. Good luck! :)

trying to decide between Pico and Q switch....

I'm trying to decide between q switch and pico.....I'm okay with being patient but q switch could tale more than two years and the more research I do it seems like Pico could only be a year to a year and a half... what do you guys think? Is it worth Pico for a black outline tattoo?

I would say Yes! Absolutely! The Pain is horrible and after care/healing is Long and tedious so I would definitively pay more to have fewer treatments

Just be careful because by the sounds of it the pico is better for colours and they also did really good marketing! With black ink it seems that it takes a lot longer. I've heard the q switch 1064 is the best for black ink and you seem have a lot o black ink! I would also wait longer between sessions because it fades more the longer you wait in between session and gives more time for the skin to heal! I've been researching for a while, but I was too scared to go to my first appointment since I've heard it hurts so bad! I rescheduled for this week and I hope I can stand the pain.... Mine is a long script tattoo along my side :( I wish you the best of luck on this journey! We both seem to have large tattoos!
