She is a Human Being, with Perfectionist Precision
WORTH IT$5,000
I had lost over 100 pounds from severe sickness and swelling during very, very difficult pregnancies. I exercised for years, but my skin would not return to normal. I lost all the excess weight and maintained great gym regiment for over 5 years after giving birth. i was at my goal weight for nearly 2 years by the time i met with Dr Mahony. I was very nervous and do not take surgery lightly. I believe in hard work and accepting and loving what we are given. I believe in making the best of life.
I also believe that my pregnancies were extremely difficult and that I deserve to be happy with my body again. I did all the work required to get back into shape, i love my kids, but that doesn't mean i need to be saddled with a body that didn't reflect the amount of energy I put into my health and physical fitness. I had so much loose skin that i could lean forward and grab more than two handfuls of loose skin and twist it all the way around. My stomach would just HANG like it was an alien swinging from my core. My stomach felt super soft, like pudding. Yet, I had completed a full marathon and exercised for 5 years for at least one hour per day. Even on holidays. I wanted a body that reflected my lifestyle.
I wanted to look the way I had earned. I didn't want anything more. I wasn't looking to be a bikini model or to look like i had a teenager's stomach. I'm a mother of beautiful kids. I wanted my stomach to "go with" the rest of my body. I have good muscle tone, but also some flesh to hold onto. I'm happy with that.
We decided on a mini tuck. She removed all the loose skin beneath my belly button, but didn't touch my belly button. I could have used a full tummy tuck- but, i was very scared.
it's been several years later and my lower stomach still looks amazing. i've been wearing crop tops for years. The top part of my stomach is loose. I can see the ab definition through the skin, but may return for a revision in the future. If i were to do it again- i would have gotten the full tuck right in one surgery and been done with it. I'm thrilled with what i have, but it's been a few years and i should have listened to her gentle urging to just go for the full tuck.
Dr Mahony was so kind and understanding. She is a real human being. I had met with a few other doctors for consultations before finding her. They were efficient and good at their jobs, but there was no human connection. When i met Dr Mahony, I legitimately felt HEARD and SEEN. I scheduled the tuck a full year in advance, to give myself time to mentally prepare. Like I said, I'm a little neurotic. She was incredibly understanding and patient and I truly feel like I got more than what i paid for. She is fair priced- and worth every penny. Honestly, after I finished healing (which took nearly a full year for the swelling to go down, in my case) I didn't give my appearance another thought. That is something that i was hoping to accomplish. I could focus on LIFE and everything else, instead of how to fold my stomach flap into my yoga pants and keep it there.
Seriously. I'm very pleased and would definitely consider seeing her again, if I need more "natural looking" work done, in the future.
