Went in for Mini Lift Consult in my 40s and She Told Me I Could Not Be Saved Without Four Surgeries
Wow, this was a depressing experience, and I don't believe it was due to my expectations. I went in to discuss a mini-lift (I'm in my 40s). She came right at me with all the things that are wrong with my face and recommended a full face lift, brow lift, upper AND lower blepharoplasty.
Let me address this - I am my own worst critic and I think I could use an upper bleph. I in no way need a lower. I doubt I need a brow lift. And in all honesty I have had five consults with top-tier New York plastic surgeons. Three refused flat out to do a lift or any surgery, saying I did not need it yet. One recommended mini lift and no bleph but agreed to do upper bleph when I asked. No one suggested brow lift - my brow is pretty high. But Dr. Devgan recommended a full lift PLUS ALL the trimmings to the tune of $60K in surgeries.
Not only this, but she did it in such a way as to make me feel truly hideous and desperately in need of surgery STAT (she kept saying "I can't help you without surgery" and drew a diagram of my face that looks like a 90-year-old), which is the last thing I expected from a woman. She is NOT gentle or caring, so do not expect that.
I applied my consult fee to Botox, assuming I was already in $500 and she'd be good at that, and ended up lopsided with a Spock brow.
It's within every doc's right to upsell the full monty of procedures, but to deliver it in such a way that a woman in her 40s feels like a decrepit hag when she leaves (yes, I cried afterward, and was depressed for days which is very unlike me) - well, I think her approach is pretty brutal. Don't go unless you can take the most negative possible assessment of your face. (Again, I've seen other docs and most think it's too early...so...she's definitely extreme.)
My take is this doctor is Instagram-famous and that's about it. You need a rhino skin to even get a consult.
