Microliposuction, Morpheus 8 and Accutite

ORIGINAL POST

Microliposuction and Morpheous 8

Hi Everyone

I had 2 sessions of these treatments with Mr Ghanem and it's the second biggest surgical mistake of my life.

You may realise from a previous post of mine of surgery gone wrong in 2018 where a different surgeon talked me into facial fat grafting, however he overfilled my face and put it in places that were never agreed. The result was a fat, over filled face and ever since i have been on a traumatic journey of corrective procedures to try and get my original face back as much as possible.

After having such a bad experience abroad i wanted to stay in my home country and researched many surgeons and clinics, however i couldn't find anyone confident enough to want to microlipo the face due to risk of damaging the delicate nerves in that area and risk of paralysis.

I considered Kybella or similar injections but was advised against it as it had never been tried on grafted fat which behaves differently apparently to the natural primary fat in your face.

I was running out of options and was contemplating having to go abroad to find someone. I then went to a clinic in London who were offering fat melting injections in the face, however they recommended and referred me to Mr Ali Ghanam also based in London and stated that if anyone can help me he can. I checked his profile and he seemed quite accomplished so booked into see him. I could not find any patient reviews which did of course concern me, however i later justified this due to him working in the NHS and abroad mostly and was fairly new into the private sector. His accolades seemed impressive so i went to see him. He seemed very sympathetic, eager and confident to help which warmed me to him and i was just relieved that i had found someone in UK so confident to help and not concerned about the nerves in the face.

I had good taught skin and looked about 10 years younger and did not have any noticeable laxity of the skin especially for my age of being in my 40s. All i needed was some one with a good aesthetic eye and using my before photos to remove some fat from the jawline and marionette/lower cheeks area and only a very little from the zygoma area. I asked about getting loose skin from removal of fat and Mr Ghanem assured me as i had good skin he did not feel it would be an issue however along with the microlipo he suggested Morpheus 8 (M8) to tighten the skin. I appreciated that he was trying to fix an issue created elsehwhere and agreed that i would need 2 and possibly 3 sessions to get the result i needed.

When i showed him the before photos he only glanced at them briefly and didn't seem to want to use them to guide him and dismissed further attempts to show him.

I had 1 session under GA of both microliposuction and M8 in June 2019. The end result was too much fat removed from the Zygoma area and the issue still there in the marionette area and jawline. So my highest areas of concern appeared the same yet the area of minimal concern was over extracted. Feeling deflated but trying to remain hopeful and following further discussion i regretfully proceeded with the second treatment as there was some volume reduction and i had no one else to help me. Mr Ghanem seemed confident that the second session would balance things out and that he would use the M8 to tighten further the skin. I should have walked away at that point but thought I'd give it one more go and emphasised what i hoped to achieve. Mr Ghanem did agree that he thought i needed some volume putting back in the Zygoma area. Why he removed so much i don't know when all our discussions and suggested by him that we go slow and steady with treatment to fine tune the result which i preferred too.

I will outline the second session at a later point.

Response from Dr. Ghanem:
I'm truly sorry this was your experience. You came to me after being botched abroad. I proceeded only after multiple consultations and your fully informed decision on the limitations of the procedure. I informed you of the challenges and after consultations with global authorities in the field, we agreed on a conservative treatment plan that was not completed due to your preferences. You had significantly improved results that I wish you could show. I'm sorry you feel this did not benefit you.

It's very interesting to read a detailed review of this surgeon, I was considering him but became concerned when coming across positive reviews on another site that didn't appear genuine to me. I recently read an article by Beauty Blogger, Alice Hart Davis, about having treatment with this surgeon and her experience wasn't entirely positive which seemed a red flag...reading between the lines there seemed to be red flags...I googled a bit more and read on her insta account that during treatment with this surgeon, the beauty blogger suffered damage to her corneas...which was glosse over in the article. I'm glad I avoided treatment with this surgeon..
I feel there is alot of talking and publishing but little talent or actual hands on experience which is falsely exagerated by this Clinician
Hi, I believe we've spoken before - you're not alone. As you know, I had this procedure with the same doctor to remove grafted fat. It was extremely expensive - a lot more than I was quoted for a mid facelift elsewhere. I thought that the technology would do the job of melting down the areas I was concerned about. To cut a long story short, apart from some very minor tightening of the jawline, I observed no visible changes in the density or appearance of the grafted fat. The areas I'd hoped to improve looked exactly the same 6, 9 and 12 months later. For such a costly procedure, this really isn't good enough - particularly as I paid a fraction of the price to a different surgeon a year later, who got half of it out in one sitting without any technology to assist.

I don't believe he was transparent with me, either. Initially, I'd been encouraged by a before and after picture on his social media page showing a clear reduction in cheek volume after his Accutite procedure. I referenced this image in my consultation, yet he said nothing in response and quickly changed the subject. I wonder whether this was in fact his own before and after picture, or whether he failed to disclose its true origin, especially since I have noticed his use of popular manufacturer images of patients on his social media page without any disclosure.

Also, have you seen the sheer number of machines he's playing with nowadays as well as the fact he is a spokesperson for at least 3 of them? In my opinion, he seems to be engaged in selling these to practitioners by demoing them on behalf of their manufacturers. In light of our experiences, I wonder how much actual time is dedicated to running a proper clinic with a steady stream of patients? If all of his machines are only being used for a short time on a handful of patients before being abandoned in favour of the latest shiny new object, then that doesn't suggest to me that he has built up a significant level of experience with any of them.

Unfortunately, there was a lot of gaslighting on his part before the procedure, which I should have taken as a major red flag. This continued post-op. Frankly, some of his statements sounded outrageous to me.

I hope you achieve a resolution for this, I really do.
hi who did you go to that was able to get more than half the fat out and what procedure did they do if you don’t mind sharing? My boyfriend had an overfilled fat transfer and failed liposuction/facetite to his jawline and we don’t know what to do the get the fat out..
