100% Worth It for Sparse Asian Brows
I'm going to start by saying that microblading is not cheap! The healing process is annoying, and you do need to go back about once a year - me and my oily skin more like every 8 months, haha. But it feels amazing to wake up with brows or go to the gym without worrying about if I look alive or not. Additionally, THIS WILL NOT REPLACE THOSE INSTAGRAMMY ON FLEEK DARK ASS BROWS. I still fill mine in if I'm going for a dramatic makeup look, but on a day to day basis I don't need to touch my brows anymore because they look full and natural, which was my goal. Also, filling them in gets 10x easier because you have a great outline instead of having to freehand it.
I cannot stress enough how important it is to go to someone who gives you a great and flattering shape. I went somewhere iffy for my first time and my new tech has been slowly correcting that previous work done year by year. Spare yourself and learn from my mistake! I have very sparse, shapeless brows and my tech truly brought them back to life. Go somewhere where the clientele start with similar brows to yours - i.e. me with my thin brows was not going to try to go somewhere that specializes in a dramatic arched shape.
After two years of using the same tech, I highly recommend @JewlzParkBeauty (Instagram or Yelp). She was an art major and you can really tell that she has a keen eye for symmetry. I've had subpar microblading done at a few other places and I will never trust anyone else with my brows. $450 for microblading and $525 for microblading with shading. Best decision I ever made. It's not cheap, so it may not be worth it to you if you already have thick brows and a naturally great shape.
First session: Pay a $50 deposit and book online. Instructions of where to park (free!) and her address will be texted to you. The numbing cream she uses is amazing; I felt NOTHING during my appointment. The brow mapping takes a while, as she is very picky about giving you a flattering shape that will age well. Ink color is discussed, and then the microblading itself is the easy part.
Healing: The first few days, your brows will be very dark. You'll probably panic and think you went too big with the shape, or that the color is too dark. Not to worry, they will "shrink" and heal much more naturally. You CANNOT sweat, be in the sun, or get them wet during this 10 day period. Jewlz does dry healing, which means no annoying ointment to apply. No one at work noticed anything different with my brows. As they started to crack and peel, I put a tiny amount of brow color in the sparse spots. When the initial scabs fall off, your brows will look light. It's just part of the healing process, and the true color will come out around week 3 or 4 after your first session.
Touch up: Any gaps or areas that didn't take the ink as well are filled in, and the brow shape is lightly gone over again. The healing process and instructions are the same, but since it's not a full session this will be shorter and easier.
Outcome: Amazing brows! If you have oily skin like mine, they won't last as long. I have to be mindful of applying sunscreen to them, and as they fade and lighten over time the hairstrokes will disappear. That's why if you want to maintain this you will need to go back.
