Hey Kagan doll sisters!
So I’m 5 months post op, and I repeat the swelling is real real! :) Aside from that I’m feeling really good. I haven’t really started back working out consistently but I have a few fitness goals for 2019 so I’m really looking forward to my summer body! In my first post I said I wouldn’t go out of state...and in hindsight I still don’t feel this is the route for everyone but if I ever had any other work done. I would likely go to Dr. Kagan again. I’m really happy with my results. I would love to hear some updates from my #KaganDollSistas ;)

5 weeks post op!

Hello all!
So I’m 5 weeks post op and I’m feeling really good! I had my first official outing to see Queen B and her husband :) Tuesday night, and I didn’t wear my binder and I love the way my clothes fit, however, by the end of the night all I could think about was my binder. I posted pictures of my scar and my belly button which are both healing very nicely. I was initially concerned about my scar, but a friend told me it would smooth itself out, and it is doing just that! The body is truly amazing. So..the key things I would share at this point is being aware and preparing yourself for the mental aspects of recovery. I would read how some people would get depressed and couldn’t understand why, but I fully understand now, because I think most women take this approach because they want and expect immediate results..but the healing process is any and everything but immediate. Your clothes won’t fit.. you look down and you still see a belly and your either in pain or uncomfortable from swelling that fluctuates throughout the day and tends to increase in the evening. So if you have any mental health issues, you want to be very mindful of the stress the healing process will take you through mentally. However, I still have no complaints, and I definitely would do this again, just sooner and closer to home for the purpose of post op comfort, because you are going through the post op and healing phase for a lot longer than it takes to prep and have the actual surgery. Right now I’m just really looking forward to my 3 months, 6 months and a year from now results!
Light and Love to all!

Thanks for sharing that very insightful advice. I'm 2 wks po and had a BR in addition to a TT. don't regret my decision but like you pointed out you do experience a mental thing. I questioned almost everything to the point I thought I had gotten pneumonia ( do have a cold now) but I'm doing great. Still a lot of swelling but I'm ok.

I’m glad you appreciate and can relate. The swelling is no joke girlfriend! I definitely found myself questioning myself.. like “was your stomach really that bad” ..”did you really give working out enough effort”...”you did all this to look and feel better and look at you now!”
Bless my heart! Lol!! About two weeks ago I sneezed and thought I had bust stitches on the inside... but it definitely gets easier as the days go by. I read that at 4 weeks you notice a significant decrease in swelling and I will have to say that has been pretty consistent with my experience, however the swelling is still very obvious to me, and that’s because we can feel it.. and our view of our stomachs is often looking down.. so I stay in the mirror for reassurance and confirmation that I did the right thing. The mirror always brings me back to life! I just approach each day as 1 day closer to my 3 month mark. I know you have not posted any pics... but take them often for yourself because it is so easy to get caught up in the moment and not recognize or appreciate how far you have come. Pictures help to put your progress in perspective.

Yes, will do (take some pics). What I have done is tried on a couple of dresses that button down the front and showed what I looked like to my Mom and Sis and the both said umph you look damn good. Mind you I'm on 2 wks po and GOO-GOOBS & ODDLES of SWELLING. I had another f/u appt tdy with my PS and he said all is healing well. I told him I can't take that compression garment and he said just go ahead wear spanks---which I have plenty of. I'm planning to go see my PSP tomorrow just to get my blood pressure ck'd cuz I have a headache that comes and goes. I was feeling so good today that I decided to drive myself to the supermarket and pulled up home with my stuff and Aretha Franklin came on (tribute to her playing on SAT radio) and it was my jam 'My Man' and was outside doing my thang compression garment and all!

oh also forgot to mention...yes I was tired once I got everything inside and put away and took me a nice nap! :) :) :)
August 24, 2018
That is good that you got out! And I have one more week before I can start exercising so I dance all the time! And yes I definitely would feel really tired and winded after a full day. But naps are life! Lol! Just take it one day at a time and reach out anytime you need to talk! :)

Hey girlfriend! I’m so glad my post are helpful. Yes as the days go by I am so pleased and definitely feel confident about recommending Dr. Kagan. When is your procedure? Is someone going with you? If not are you going to a recovery house?
August 24, 2018
My procedure is 1/9/19 which I hope I don’t have to reschedule as I’m having some GI issues so hopefully all is worked out before then and I will get clearance and can keep my date my oldest daughter says she’s going to fly down with me I had already booked recovery house prior to her just telling me she wants to fly down with me I’m just so relieved to hear how well you’re doing as well as the pictures speak for themselves that’s was my only hesitation was just seeing more work but I’m impressed also you did have drains correct because I just read another review of one of his patients and he didn’t use drains on her I’ve seen the procedure both ways and I honestly am not sure which way to go any opinions or suggestions from your experience I had a breast reduction 19 years ago so o am familiar with the drains and how they work and feel and the removal which o know people say isn’t bad but it was kinda painful for me back then I remember it burning and just feeling really weird but I’m interested if he does both ways how does he determine who to use drains on and who not
August 24, 2018
Yeah my daughter came down with me as well, and we stayed at the recovery house together for two days then hotel. I was so comfortable at the recovery house that if she wasn’t booked I would have stayed there my entire stay. I did have drains and I came home with them. Did she have liposuction? Because I know or I’ve read that most lipo comes with drains and I had lipo on my flanks. It definitely felt weird when it was being pulled out, but it was a stinging sensation around the insertion area when the drain was coming out..and then seeing it made it even weirder, but I was relieved once they were out. I left mine in for 10 days. In hindsight I wish I had written down a list of questions because while I’m assuming it’s because of the lipo, I don’t know for sure, so I would also like to know what determines the need for drains or no drains.

And with regards to you GI issues just pray your way through this entire experience. I had so many obstacles, but each time I would step back and say ok GOD if it’s meant you will clear a path.. and he did every time! Don’t stress and you still have plenty of time to start assisting with the self healing of your GI issues, I read and google all the time and what we eat is 90% of our health issues. I still struggle with my food addictions but being mindful of the health challenges my favorite indulgences contribute to helps me to eat only one Krispy Kreme doughnut instead of 3! Lol.. bless my heart. I have read consistently that weight loss is 70% diet 30% exercise and when I’m consistent with eating healthier choices I lose faster every time. Not saying that food is your struggle, but it was definitely mine.

yay!!! how exciting glad you're healing well!!! you are looking really good too!!!

Hi all!
Just wanted to post a few pictures and give a few updates on my healing. So I’m not sure if I said this before but I definitely feel my age. For whatever reason I was under the impression that my bounce back would not take 3 to 6 months as stated over and over again. However, I have found and realize that not only is the expected recovery times accurate.. the healing has really put into perspective how serious this surgery is. With that being said, my suggestions when making a decision like this is to definitely do research about the facility and the doctor, the procedure and the healing process, and listen to your intuition. I am very pleased however in hindsight I would prefer to have a Dr. close to home that I can physically follow up with to ask questions. Like my right side appears and feels a little more swollen then my left.. is this normal? I’ve read enough reviews to determine it likely is, but I would love to have a Dr. physically look and touch to confirm. So would I do this again!? Yes, but I would definitely go about it differently.
