Robert Kagan, MD - Account Suspended

Dr. Kagan is a Rock Star. He is now with Unique Aesthetics/Body by Unique. I had my Mommy Make Over on August 31. I am 21 days postop. My results are nothing short of amazing.
PROS:
1. Dr. Kagan reviewed each and every page of my medical records within my eye view and initialed several pages.
2. I received a tummy tuck with muscle repair, breast lift, and lipo of the flanks and the results speak for themselves.
3. Dr. Kagan has years of experience which supported my decision to chose him, in addition to the fact that I personally know someone who had lipo 360 and BBL by Kagan, prior to my procedure.
4. He engages with you in such a way that you feel valued (eventhough you only meet prior to surgery).
CONS:
1. Cons are related more to his association with surgery center than Dr. Kagan personally as he is an independent contractor with Body by Unique (currently).
2. I booked with Kagan in June 2022 when he was with Prestige. About two weeks later I found out he moved to Unique Aesthetic because I could not log into the portal because my account was locked. I was very upset that I was not told because I felt Prestige and Kagan knew or should have known he planned to leave before they accepted my deposit.
3. My surgery date had to be rescheduled due to his departure from Prestige. Prestige tried to play games with my deposit, but I don't play about my money.
4. Unique claimed that Kagan moved to provide a better patient experience. I decided to trust Kagan to make this move because he has been in this business long enough to determine what is best for him and his patients. And he had done good work for my friend.
5. The reputation of the prior facilities he has worked for especially Jolie Plastic Surgery.
6. The Florida State Medical Board charges about $38 to obtain information about a licensed doctor. One would think this information would be provided to the public for free. Shame on Florida.
7. Dr. Kagan (as well as most Miami surgeons) does not carry malpractice insurance despite what the Florida Medical Board website says.
8. You do not find out Dr. Kagan is an independent contract of the facility until you are in a room with other people completing documents that virtually none of the read as I witnessed.
9. The documents required before surgery are dense for a Mommy Makeover and I was never offered a copy of what I signed, though I did take pictures of some pages that seemed questionable. In fact, I did not sign a particular form that stated, in part, that I acknowledged that I was leaving the facility against medical advice. I was told that that wasn't what the form meant. I pushed back to explain that it is what the form said and I that was not the case so I would not sign. The person went out of the room and we never discussed it again. We had conversations about other pages that were were able to resolve with me lining out passages I did not agree with because I DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING I CANNOT ANNOTATE OR ALTER.
10. The machinations of these 'surgery centers' these doctors align with can be disconcerting. I understood (based on many reviews and videos) that this would be substandard surgery practices so I proceeded with that in mind choosing to rely on the reputation of Dr. Kagan. I watched the investigative report: Trafficked with Mariana van Zeller on HULU and had a sense of what to expect minimally.
11. Hidden costs and unexpected fees. When Kagan switched from Prestige to Unique there were extraordinary fees that were being charge for items not disclosed when I booked. So we had to have a meeting of the minds on what I wasn't going for. I ended up relenting with the biopsy fee for the breast lift, but to date there is no proof it was actually done.
Overall, I had a great encounter with my selection of Dr. Kagan as my Mommy Make Over surgeon. I didn't have billing issues so I worked well with my patient coordinator. I paid half up front and half when due. However, there was one call where she said I needed to work on my balance and I had to check her because I paid half when he moved to Unique and my surgery date got cancelled to ensure that wouldn't happen again. She then realized I am not that patient that needs to be talked to in that manner. They were paid in full within 60 days.
I will say my opinion of the 'Miami Surgery Scene' is that they offer low cost procedures to people predominately in a low income bracket and therefore employ tactics and schemes that are manipulative and tantamount to fraud in a lot of ways. I did address my concerns in emails to my Unique point of contact on several occasions because I do not play that phone call crap. They say anything on a call, I need my responses in writing. So I think we understood eachother early in the process. I am not for shenanigans. I understood what I was venturing into, but I would not tolerate games.
My advice is to read as many reviews of any surgeon or facility to weed through the complaints. Also READ WHAT YOU SIGN

Dr. Kagan did an amazing job on me.(lipo360 & BBL) I literally had nothing before coming to him. My stats 5’ 7.5” 207lbs. At time of surgery. I’m currently 214 lbs. I highly recommend him and looking to do mommy makeover with him.

The best ever ,he’s knowledge and experience and give u exactly what do u want I ask for a dramatic look and he’s work his magic ,the team is very kindly and professional,they make u feel home I recommend it for everyone

Dr. Kagan is phenomenal!!! Bedside manner is superb, his work is natural. I had a lipo 360 with fat transfer 8/16/21, and immediately after surgery, despite my swelling, my shape looked fantastic. Now at almost 3 weeks post-op, I continue EB to shrink and I’m so in love with my shape. Thank you so much Dr. Kagan!!!

I’m so grateful and amazed at his work. He is knowledgeable, professional and his bedside manner is exceptional. He took the time to explain everything specific to my needs. I traveled home within the first week and my masseuse was so impressed with my result compared to her other clients from other docs. I had gotten the Tummy Tuck” with Lipo by Dr.Kagan at “Jolie’s Plastic” on March 2nd and when I say I’ve had an amazing experience it’s been great, after hearing other people experience with the tummy tuck I was nervous about the pain, but to be completely honest I didn't experience any pain besides “tightness and stiffness” from the muscle repair & of course minor back pain... but it’s to the point I didn’t even need the pain meds I was prescribed!! “ unbelievable right?!! But completely true I’ve been on Tylenol since day 2 and now I don’t even need to take them! Now everybody body is different, but I’m healing very well, and fast I was supposed to have my drains in for 2 weeks and end up being able to get one out 4 days later after surgery, I’ve also been able to do everything on my own since day 1 “no lie ” it’s been a whole week already and I’m still doing very well, I'm in love with my results so far and I’m not even completely healed I can’t wait to show this body off.

So I’m 2 weeks post op now and I’m am really SWOLLEN but I’m pretty sure It’s because I’ve been doing way too much ! I’ve been grocery shopping , driving and all that, yes I’m still wearing my “Binder” , my doctor requires me to wear the binder for 6weeks so 3 more weeks to got before I can waist train, I have been trying to keep myself on bed rest it’s just so hard cause I’m an active person and the fact that I haven’t been in any pain I be letting it slip my mind that I just had surgery 2 weeks ago , but here’s my update Also I took my own Drain out this week and removed the surgical tape My doctor suggested for both to come off once I hit 2weeks it wasn’t bad at all I definitely was nervous but it’s didn’t hurt at all

Cordless back heating pad massager & TylenoI , i love the massagers ughhh we’re BFF lol but it’s definitely help with the back soreness for be hutch over the back pain if probably the most pain I’ve had lol it

So excited I’m almost at my 6week mark so I can start working out , also here’s alil update so when I’m swelling real bad I’ve start wear my binder and a girdle over top of my binder, it helps a lot for the extra compression which helps the swelling and fluid go down, My belly still alil hard and numb, but I still haven’t experience any pain, Also I have started using products on my incision scar , Mederma or bio oil, are good products and I’m also using the silicone tape which is also great for the scar , I got the tape from Amazon and the oils from Walmart

2 months and 5 days post op, still haven’t been experiencing no pain , my stomach gets swollen after a few minutes of not wear some type of garment or waist trainer, it gets super round , I still wear some type of compression everyday

I had been researching and praying about this for awhile now and I finally decide to go ahead and book my BBL with Dr. Kagan in Miami! I AM STOKED!! I booked for the second week in June. I'm a little nervous, anxious, and excited all at the same time!

My wish pics for Dr.Kagan! My BBL is scheduled for June 10, 2021. Today I am going to book my Air BnB and flight!! My Mom, Daughter, and Bestfriend agreed to come with me. I'll have my dream body in less than 4 months!!!

As a 34AA before kids and 34AAA after, I got fed up with buying add-2-cup-size bras and wearing a shirt during sex. I went with a full C (360cc) natrelle saline implant. Kagan is old-school (no rapid recovery program here) and told me what would be good on me. The clinic (Jolie) is a no-frills facility that is medically sound and by the book, and have great prices.

I followed the rules and wore the max support sports bra (even to bed) and did NOT work out for 3 months. Whew! I’m ecstatic about my boobs. They’ve started to drop and fluff and jiggle. No rippling, scar not visible unless you look for it. Pics to show this included. I am wide-set across the chest and didn’t want super large boobs so I -may- get clevage as time goes but am happy to finally wear sexy lacy bras and bikinis without pads. My partner has seen it all boobs-wise and says these are sexy, feel great, and perfect for my body...it has def changed my desire to be topless for sex. Vid to show how they move at 4 mos.

I've finally decided to let go of the fupa and get my dream booty. I'm super excited to have booked with Dr. Kagan. I was hoping for a closer date because I'm currently working from home, which would be ideal for my recovery and not sure how long my job is going to allow us to continue to work from home with the vaccines going out. I'm going to take the time now to mentally and physically prepare my for my surgery.

I actually switched doctors. I didn’t like the way Jolie was communicating and I needed to feel well-informed.

Hello! I got surgery with Robert Kagan at Jolie plastic surgery on 10.28.2020 and I have to say Dr. Kagan is absolutely amazing and gave me everything I asked for! These are my before and after pictures. I'm 5'3 and at the time of surgery weighed 166 pounds.

I am almost 3 weeks post op. I feel great no soreness, no stiffness, the bruising is almost all the way gone, swelling is going down and I can do everything that I would of been able to do before surgery besides sit. The only issue I’ve had is I’ve developed a seroma on my lower stomach that I need to get drained but other than that I feel great!
