Considerations & Results: I am 27 years old and I’ve always hated my nose! I thought of myself as pretty, but I was always self-conscious when people were looking at my profile, or I consistently turned my head a certain way when pictures were being taken to avoid the “wrong angle” that would accentuate the hump on my nose. I got used to, and just learned to accept, my nose for many years, but then last year I began to consider getting surgery again. Finally, I went in for a consultation with Dr. Perez-Gurri and while I was there I just knew I had to get it done. Dr. Perez-Gurri was patient and listened to my concerns – the biggest of which was, that under no circumstances did I want a “perfect, little nose”. I wanted a nose that still had character, fit with the rest of my face, and that did not look like I had a nose job; I wanted it to look completely natural. I had many family members and friends who were hesitant about me getting surgery because they all kept saying, “but it’s your face, I love your face, and I don’t want the personality/character of your face change”. Let me tell you, I am SO HAPPY that I went for it and that it was Dr. Perez-Gurri that did it! My nose looks incredible! There are minor imperfections in it to make it look like I was born with it. As for my friends and family, they were shocked at how natural it looked and how Dr. Perez-Gurri maintained the character of my face. For those friends and acquaintances that didn’t know I had surgery, they either don’t notice the change or just say, “hmm, something about you looks different but I have no idea what it is”. This was the exact result that I wanted! I do not regret getting my nose done for one second. My only regret is that I waited so long to do it.
Surgical process & Recovery: My procedure involved both breaking the nasal bone and removing cartilage and lasted about 1.5-2 hours. I had my surgery performed in their new surgery center, which was great. The staff was very kind and accommodating. Prior to surgery, in pre-op, IV lines are placed and the doctor places gauze strips with medication to help decrease bleeding. Shortly after, you are given medication to make you happy/sleepy and are wheeled back to the OR. Once in post-op, you are monitored for a bit and then get sent home, with someone else driving of course. You will have a cast on your nose and packing in your nostrils, and may already see some swelling and bruising. A button up shirt is recommended.
In terms of the pain I experienced, it really was miraculous how little pain there was. I read on so many blogs and websites that it’s not a painful procedure, but of course, how is it possible that a broken nose doesn’t hurt?!? But truthfully, I would rate my pain tolerance as moderate, and in my whole recovery process I took at total of 1.5 Lortab tablets, and they were really more for headache/pressure than actual nose/surgical pain. As soon as I got home I placed ice on my eyes and cheeks, religiously, like the doctor instructed. I followed all of his directions and the majority of my bruising was gone within about 1 week. However, I was able to cover up the residual bruising with light makeup by that point. By a month post-op my nose was still swollen, but the shape was already looking great. By 3 months, I was already in love with my new nose, and even received a compliment by a stranger while waiting in a check-out line. My nose has been numb for months, but that’s expected as they are cutting nerves. However, buy around month 5-6 I began to feel the numbness subside. I am now 7 months post-op and catch myself noticing my nose and thinking, “damn, I love it!” My family still compliments it and agrees it was a great choice. I really don’t plan to get anymore plastic surgery done (except perhaps in the future when I start and finish having kids and want to tighten and lift things), but if I did, I would not consider anyone else but Dr. Perez-Gurri.

Your nose looks beautiful and so natural! It looked great at 3 months ( I am almost at the 3 month mark right now) but your 7 month photo looks even better. Would you say there was a lot of change after 3 months? I am happy with my results so far, but am just wondering how much more change I might still look forward to. Thx

Thank you! There was change from 3 to 7 months, but I think the main changes involved swelling. It's hard to see it because the pictures are small, but looking at my nose from the front at 3 months, it was actually wider than my nose before surgery (and had a more masculine shape). From 3 to 7 months it was pretty much the swelling that went down, and my nose also took on a more feminine shape.
