I am 26 years old and have fat bags under my eyes as well as flat, creased cheeks. The combination is not pretty, so i decided to make a change with a filler for my cheeks first. My doctor suggested Radiesse as a volume filler and we used two syringes on my face. The pain was minimal, but it felt very uncomfortable when the product was inserted but overall it was worth the outcome and i would do it again. I saw immediate results and no signs of swelling/bruising (yet, as i only had this procedure done this morning). My pictures are from right before the procedure and 6 hours after procedure.

Update - 3 1/2 months post

It has been 3 & 1/2 months since i had the filler injected, and i also went back and got 1 syringe of Botero for a target area on my cheek a month after that. I loved my initial results and could see a difference.. up until month 2 - 2 & 1/2. I noticed that my cheeks were already flattening out and i could not feel the filler in my cheeks as much when i would apply moisturizer on my face. Month 3 & 1/2 I can honestly say that my body has metabolized the fillers completely. I am ready to get more fillers but am more interested in something that will last a lot longer than just 2 or 3 months. I thought that this filler would get me at least 6 months of full cheeks. Any suggestions?

Hi Mila. Radiesse contains calcium spheres in a gel carrier( water plus cellulose and glycerin). The gel does dissolve over a few weeks, and then the collagen stimulation action of the calcium spheres kicks in. What you are likely seeing is the dissolving of the Radiesse gel, which is normal. Now it's a matter of time to see the result of your own collagen being stimulated, which will take several weeks, and should last 12 months or longer.
Belotero is a hyaluronic acid filler, (like Restylane and Juvederm) which doesn't have the same action as Radiesse: Belotero will slowly dissolve too, over time, but it doesn't have the same action as Radiesse. Personally, I would wait and see how the result goes over the coming months and see if you are happy with the Radiesse. If you're not sure how the result is, you could decided to stick with hyaluronic acid fillers in future.Dr. Eithne Brenner

Radiesse can make you look overblown. I REALLY like Scupltra, and I have tried them all over the years, trying to stave off the knife. Sculptra keeps working over time. It is expensive compared to the other fillers and with good reason...it keeps building up your own cells. I am 58. Click on my picture to see the results. I like my face to be heart-shaped. I think it is a younger look.

Hi Dr. Eithne Brenner! Thank you for the time you put into your comment, I found it very insightful and did not know about the stimulation of collagen over time. I am 8 months post radiesse filler injections and don't think that my face looks as it did the day before my injections. Something must have been working during this time, even if it has been subtle. Glad to read your descriptive comment and regain faith in this fille . Perhaps I will try it, or another similar filler again. :) Thanks!

I had radiesse before and my injector told me that I would like it a lot better at 6 months than 3 months because the filler dissolves in about 3 months as the collagen is growing to take it's place. And it will begin to fill out again as the collagen begins to grow. Hope this helps.

Ask your doctor about Voluma too. It is used in the cheeks and lasts quite awhile. It is more money than other fillers usually because it is supposed to last longer.

I had the same experience with radiesse mine last only 2 months and it never filled back out again. :( i had 3 syringes in cheeks. I am going to try 3 syringes of juvederm Voluma tomorrow hopefully better luck this time.

Go with Bella fill (sp)...it is permanent tiny micro spheres. In a few years, it can be touched up after your face starts changing when you age. I have had a number of facial procedures. And this is the best stuff.
