ORIGINAL POST
Hello, I am a transgender individual and I felt...
WORTH IT$9,500
Hello, I am a transgender individual and I felt like I had a very difficult task ahead of me. I had to find a doctor who understood my individual needs of not only getting a hair transplant but also having the knowledge of knowing how to craft a feminine hairline on a male born individual such as myself. Dr. Epstein exceeded all of my conceivable expectations. He is professional, experienced, and very compassionate. I explained what I wanted and what I got was better than I could of imagined. During the surgery I felt so well taken care of and I knew I was in the best hands possible. Post operation Dr. Epstein contacted me multiple times to make sure everything was satisfactory, healing well, and was there to answer any questions I had. I am currently 15 days post operation and I have had great growth so far without any shedding. I had such a great experience that I plan to come back for rhinoplasty and am looking forward to it. I feel like Dr. Epstein isn't just a doctor but also a true friend who is helping me achieve my greatest dreams. I did a lot of research on other practices and am so happy I chose Dr. Epstein to perform my procedure

Looks good thus far but two questions:
How many grafts did you get?
And what's the downtime? When did you go back to work or felt comfortable being in public with the new hairline? Did you have to wear a hat, and were you able to cover the grafts as they heal?

I got 1,702 grafts via strip Fug and the downtime was about a day. I went out to eat at a restaurant the very next night with a loose fitting bandana the doctor gave me after surgery. By day five I stopped wearing the bandana and it was Thanksgiving so I had to see a bunch of family that day. I applied Toppik (colored keratin used for concealment.) to the grafts and nobody could tell that I had a transplant. If you apply toppik correctly it looks like real hair. By day ten I was fully healed, all the scabs fell out on their own due to gentle washing and I no longer had to apply toppik for concealment. For fast healing and growth my top tips are: Make sure you take the antibiotics the doctors give you, don't smoke, and don't drink alcohol three days before surgery and ten days post OP. I hope I was able to fully answer your questions. If you have any more I am happy to help you out :)

It's interesting how some people react to the surgery, and it seems like you're recovering quite well. I've seen videos where patients have updates on youtube, and by the third day, their face gets all swollen up, as if they were a boxer after a fight. But it looks like it depends on the age too, and the amount of grafts.
Anyway, thanks for the reply!

Yeah, I have seen some crazy horror stories via pics and YouTube of people getting infections in their donor area FUG scar and losing a lot of hair due to shock loss. I may look young but I am 28. I am a nutritionist/chef and I don't eat any processed foods. I have followed mostly a raw food diet for five years and I look younger now than I did when I was 24. I think that also contributed to the fast healing.

I feel sorry for you. I wish you could be happy with you. I can't imagine being so torn about who I am. Best wishes.

I wish I could be happy being a guy but it's just not who I am. Gender dysphoria is tough. I feel robbed of my childhood because my parents are Christians who didn't let me transition when I was young. Thanks! Best wishes to you too :)

Off topic comment -- I really like your nose! Can't imagine why you would want to change it. It's very becoming and unique. :)

Thanks! I feel like it is a little wide on the bridge. I want it a little more feminine. Thanks for your kind words :)

Posting pictures :)
Just posting some pics of myself two weeks post op. Absolutely zero shedding and loving the results. The final results aren't going to be fully achieved until I am a full year in. Thank you Dr. Epstein. You truly have changed my life :)

Looks like you're off to a great start, thank you for sharing photos - keep them coming! What method of hair transplant did you have and how many grafts were placed?

I had the strip surgery. I think they called it FUG. I had a total of 1702 grafts done and it was worth every penny. If you have any more questions I am more than happy to answer them. I am an open book :)
