Hello RealSelf!! I've been following the stories on this site for YEARS--at least five years. It's hard to believe I'm finally sitting down to write my own story (really hope my story has a happy ending, not a MeCallingTheSurgeonInTearsDemandingARevision ending...cause that happens).
He's never going to read this, but I wanna thank my husband for making this dream come true for me. He reached out, applied for a loan, and works so hard to finance my procedures while I finish my degree. Even though he strongly opposes my surgeries--he thinks they're dangerous and unnecessary--he made it happen because he knows it will make me happy. Ap ka mayree zindagi mi amor ?
5 years of researching and planning and consultations and financing. After all this time, it's hard to believe that my first surgery is TOMORROW. Less than 12 hours to go! I haven't been this excited since I was a kid on Christmas morning. I don't know how I'm going to put myself to sleep tonight with all these butterflies in my stomach. Not gonna lie, there's a little bit of fear mixed in too--fear that I won't like my results; fear that I won't heal well. Some other fears too, related specifically to this doctor and his staff, but I'll get into those later.
First piece of advice--and it has nothing to do with plastic surgery per se--don't schedule anything during hurricane season! Just don't (but if you must, make sure to get travel insurance so you can cancel your flight/hotel/recovery house in the event that a hurricane impacts your clinic). I feel like I've been on constant hurricane watch for the past two months and I don't even live in a storm zone /-_- During Irma, I had the Miami-Dade Herald's homepage on refresh every few minutes. So don't do what I did--skip the stress and ask for Epstein's New York schedule during Aug/Sept.
Putting everything out in public like this is not my style--I'd love to quietly get my surgeries, delete my old instagram, and pretend like I was born beautiful. But I've gained so much from this site--to all you lovely ladies who came before me, THANK YOU! I couldn't have come this far in my own journey without your steps to guide me. So it just isn't fair to take from the community without giving back.
