Complications at day 3?!?

So this morning the horror of all horrors happened, I was about to take a shower and as I was taking my bra off my vertical steri strip came off :O! I freaked out and called the office and the receptionists were VERY rude one of them, after explaining what happened even asked what I calling for like wtf you mean??? But after battling through them and talking to an actual nurse she told me that the steri strips don't do anything significant and that I still have sutures in so it'll heal normally. I wasn't satisfied with that though so I spoke to Christie who reconvened gauze and finally dr. H who also said I would heal fine because the sutures in but that's it's okay for me to put band aids on it. I went with Christies ideas first because I couldn't get in touch with dr H and I wanted to do something, but now I'm wanting to put the bandaid on but the gauze seems stuck to my boob because of dried blood and of course now dr H isn't answering his phone whyyyyy. This is only day 3 and I know God will take me through this but why!? I've seen girls done by him who's steri strips stay on for up to 2 weeks and mine couldn't last 3 damn days seriously??

Oh no!! I'm so sorry that's happening. My aunt got me this gauze for my spotting and it's great. It's Band-Aid brand medium non-stick pads. They are thick (but not too thick) and have an absorbent core that whisks the blood from the surface. I've bled on them and they reall don't stick! You can also purchase some steri tape and just retape them. I haven't done that but I've seen others on here do that. I'll say a prayer and hopefully you find a solution/peace of mind soon.

Ps I've also called the office before and gotten a rude receptionist. It must be the same girl. So I just stick to emailing the patient coordinator lol.

Thanks girl your posts always make me feel so much better and I got a call back from Dr. H I noticed he only calls when you leave a voicemail lol but he helped me out and I got the gauze off and replaced it with bandaids. I fly back home on Monday so I'm going to look for steri strips just so I can have them along with my other supplies, but for now I'm just gonna try to take it easy and pray over it. Thanks so much for the advice girl you're a God send. And you're so right they're wayyy better at emails but no one can beat jennifer I hate that she's on maternity leave right now lol

You can gently wipe it with a cotton ball and some alcohol then buy some steri / medical tape at a pharmacy/drug store and apply it. It helps to make you feel protected to have the incisions covered when you are first healing. Better than bandaids in my opinion. The tape also help keep scars flat.

thanks so much I'm going to look for some tomorrow when I go out. I prefer the medical tape but I couldn't find any at pharmacy near me so I had to settle for bandaids.

Hey guys, took my first shower today, does anyone have tips on how to shower during recovery? Anyway here's a sneak peak of them with the sterile strips!

They look really good! Are you happy with them? For showers I use the Dial bar soap and a regular washcloth (instead of my preferred loofa). I haven't been able to shave my armpits or my legs because bending over puts too much stress on my chest and I am not able to raise my arms above my head yet. I had to have someone help me wash my back and sides where there was residue from the bandage tape was, because I couldn't reach it on my own. I would probably invest in a back scrubber, because even now it's hard for me to reach back there. Take it slow and don't make any sudden movements! My first couple of showers took me forever, because I was moving so slow. Also don't be freaked out if your incisions leak a little after showering. My nipple areas leaked blood after every shower until like 10 days post. I'm interested to see if anyone else has tips or tricks though!

Mine leak too!! Dr H told me that's normal and is "suppose" to happen but it still makes me cautious. I actually posted a question on here to doctors asking them of any tips that have on showering while in recovery, hopefully they'll post something good and I can share with you guys. You've been such a great help girl and it's so cool how we're only about a week apart, happy recovering to us both! ^_^

I know right! Mine stopped oozing and then my right one started again and I am a little freaked out. But yes I'm glad that we had the chance to connect and that we can be on this recovery journey together! :)

Hey everyone, so as a quick correction I said vicaden in my previous post but it was Valium that I was prescribed for sleep. Anyway I had my post op and got my bandages removed and bra put on dr H checked me out and said everything was looking fine, I didn't really look because I was feeling nauseous and didn't want to freak myself out but I've attached some pics of me in the bra and some clearer shots of the bandages also the implants used were 397cc HP
