To resolve an issue. I stumbled upon Dr. Polo...
Provider Review
The surgery was a difficult one for me both physically and emotionally and would have been made more so without the wonderful people in that office; Dr. Polo, Terry, Daphany, and "Jewel." From the instant I met Dr. Polo and his staff I felt like I was with family. Each time I called the office or walked through the door I was greeted by my first name and with a huge welcoming smile. Terry runs the scheduling of appointments in a precise and organized manner. Her face was often the first one I saw as I rang the door bell and it was always bright, happy, and welcoming. As Dr. Polo's assistant, Daphany was very present in the course of my treatments. She was a serious, focused person with Dr. Polo in the room as they worked on me checking this and that. As soon as the doctor left the room Daphany was not only a medical person, but a woman, and she would joke around with me and make light, happy comments to me as if she sensed I needed cheering up. I felt she understood how I must have felt with such an altered body image once the implants were removed, and she wanted me to feel better with some laughter. Dr. Polo doesn't remember this, but a month or so before I stumbled into his office by chance, I saw him in the halls of the hospital in which I work. I had no idea who he was or that one day in the near future he would be performing surgery on me. We passed one another with the little, small smile that people do when they pass each other in an empty hallway; but, I remember thinking to myself that the man I just passed had kind eyes, a warm face, and seemed like a good person. After Dr. Polo removed my implants, I was at his office at least once a week for many weeks. Never once did he look at me with strictly a clinical eye. As Dr. Polo assessed the work he did on my body, he also assessed my well- being. It was clear to me that he cared about how I felt inside about how I looked on the outside. As he removed dressings and checked things out, he would always say, "Tell me something good." I am convinced he was not just making conversation, rather he was helping me focus on the good things going on in my life rather than the one bad thing that brought me to his office in the first place. I guess I was right that day I passed him in the hall. There is a joke around that office about "Jewel." She is one of the finance personnel and works a type of magic with numbers/billing, etc., hence, the nickname. When I speak with her, I too, call her "Jewel" which always makes her bubble with laughter. If I could, I would call everyone in that office by the same name of "Jewel" because to me, they all shimmer with a warmth that made me feel incredibly comfortable during a very uncomfortable time in my life. I will be forever greatful to all the jewels in the office of Dr. Max Polo.
