At the age of 25 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I decided to have a bilateral mastectomy with implants as my surgical treatment and was under the impression that implants or a flap was all there was. I had my first implant revision just a few months after my initial surgery to replace a capsular contracture. After that was fixed, my implant bottomed out and I found myself in another OR having another surgery to fix my big fake breasts.... My implants rippled under my over streched skin and were cold to the touch. I had no feeling. I was depressed and felt like I would live the rest of my life in pain and that I would have boulders in my chest forever. That was until the day I found dr khouri....it was like finding a light in the dark. I started the process by calling his assistant Cindy. I was immediately impressed by her kindness and found out later that she too was a breast cancer survivor. I traveled to miami for my first surgery in march of 2014. The surgery was painful like some of you complained about but its surgery people... Its certainly not going to be like you wake up and smell roses and feel relaxed. No....It hurts. The recovery sucks...especially if he takes from the thighs....but the results????!!! After the bruising went away and the tiny scars faded. I think I said out loud, "My God, this man is a genius." They were soft...warm and for the first time in 2 1/2 years, they were me. I had a breast fold, I had a slope and best of all, I had normal looking breasts. Every pain I felt in recovery were worth it. I should also mention that my scars were different too. They were smaller because they were not being stretched by huge implants and they were not purple or scar colored anymore. The fat litterally faded my scars in the first day. I wore a bathing suit with confidence this year. The fat he liposuctioned from my belly, made my stomach COMPLETELY flat. I was so happy about this little bonus. (Breasts that are my own and a flat stomach....OK! ) My second surgery to add more fat was this month (July 2014) This surgery was a breeze compared to my last because he didn't lipo my thighs this time. This time I made my always-hated love handles walk the plank. It was also easier this time because they added a new "feature" to your recovery period. Its a little black bag that had local anesthetic in it and it goes through a tiny catheter under your bandages. This allowed me to not even have to take my pain killers this time. The last time it was 2 every six hours. This time I took maybe 4 and then switched to ibuprofen. I walked to be beach at my "recovery condo" in key Biscayne toady and recovered by the water. I go for my post op tomorrow. I have no worries. Dr. Khouri is a genius in his field. He is such a foward thinker and should be praised for what he has done for the breast cancer community. He truly gave me my life back. I can hug people now...without feeling like my implants are going to knock them out. I rode a roller coaster for the first time in 3 years this summer and the harness didnt hurt. I can sleep on my belly. My daughter rests her hear on my chest to sleep at night and shes comfortable. Thank you Dr. Khouri, I could never tell you how grateful I am with theses words. Thank you for giving a young survivor life after cancer. - J

Dr. Khouri helped me considerably too. Although I am " still under construction" I am thrilled with the results so far. I had surgery in October 2013, January and April 2014 and am scheduled again in October. Like you I found the implants to be cold and hard...definitely not the warm, comfortable results I was expecting. I travel over 1200 miles each time and it is definitely worth it!

I would love to see pictures. I too was diagnosed at 25 (27 now) I have implants cause it was the simplest procedure, I didn't want any more down time than I had due to all the other stuff, the implants are ok. But at my age I know I would need work done again sometime, and I'm thinking about flaps are this method here you are describing. I would love a more natural look and feel, and of course I have belly fat that could go away.

Let me find some pictures. I dont recommend the flap, because it is soooo invasive. You need to do what you have to, to get this surgery with dr khouri. My breasts are natural again....something I never thought possible. After my frist surgery (you may need more than 1 or 2) I felt soooo much relief. I felt like a woman again. The reason for more then 1 surgery is because he can only put a certain amount of fat in at one time. If he puts more, it wont survive. Its a process that is 1 million percent worth it. Also when you think about it, implants have to be replaced anyway every 10 years. If we are in our 20s, thats a lot of times to have an exchange of implants. Dr khouri's goal is implant free. I went from 700cc to what I have now which is like 125 and the rest is my own natural, bouncy, squishy fat. Lol I love love love my results. And since you in your 20s like me, I know you will bounce back fairly quickly. Just call cindy from the number on their website.***** She will put this in motion for you...and like I said, let me search my phone and i'll add a pic.

Yes the flap seems like so much. N I think our age makes a big difference. I tried explaining to my PS that my original breast were great (minus them trying to kill me) unlike order women they mourn their breast but they are happy to have breast that aren't sagging and they get to not wear bras anymore. But for younger women I think it's still important to have breast movement and to be close to natural as possible. I have heard about ur doctor and visited his site several times , this surgery would have to be on my wish list. I just hope that in time the technology keeps evolving .

It was on my wish list too. I didnt think I could get it because I lived out of state...but my insurance covered all of it. I know what you mean about movement. Im so happy I went forward with it. My original ps just didn't understand. I think the first thing dr khouri said to me at my consult was that I shouldn't have live the rest of my life like that...and u shouldn't either.

This sounds like the route to go, I definitely would do that just have to get the financial aspect under control first.

If you set up a consult with him, they can go over all that. If you donthave Iinsurance, there are several charitable outlets such as hopechest and things like that. There are also sources to fly for free down there if there is a financial need. Mercy medical and angel flights to name a couple. For my first surgery, I flew for free the whole trip. Good luck. I hope it works out for you!

What did you have done? Fat grafting and implants removed? I have tissue expanders in now. So glad to hear that you are doing so well. Did u have a muscle flap?
