I was very impressed with the way the entire...
I was very impressed with the way the entire office handled my case. Dr. Aldea is a perfectionist (which my husband and I LOVED). We felt that he would work on me until he got it "right". Just like every woman who undergoes this type of surgery, I was very nervous at what the outcome would be. But as the day of surgery drew nearer, I was more and more comfortable with the fact that Dr. A wanted my surgery to be a success just as much as I wanted it to be! He is truly an artist. Actually, the day of surgery he came to me and said he had been thinking of another option that left me with my original belly button (because it was so high to begin with). Not only am I extremely satisfied with my results but it also made me even more comfortable about the surgery knowing he had been contemplating the best thing for ME before my surgery and not just showing up to do the "same ole thing" as everyone else. Of course it also helped that almost every nurse I came in contact with ranted about how Dr. Aldea was the best dr. out there!
At the initial consultation, Dr. A sat down with my husband and I and discussed with us (for over 2 hours!) what the procedure would entail. I was nervous it would feel like a sales pitch, but if anything, it was the opposite. He wanted to make sure I understood the risks and was still willing to do the surgery. He even sent us home to think about it before he would schedule the surgery. The precautions he takes for surgery and after are EXTREMELY conservative. I have read a lot online and I have to say I am so glad he pushed so hard for me to walk so much and to do the blood thinners for 10 days (instead of 4 or 5). I have 5 kids and my husband would kill me if I left him with all those kids! lol Dr. A took my safety as his utmost concern and although I know that in every surgery there are still risks, I felt like even if something HAD happened, I knew it would not be at the fault of my doctor (my husband felt that way as well, we talk about it before my surgery).
Another thing I was extremely impressed with was his secretary (actually I don't know what her title is but I think of her as Dr. Aldea's right hand woman:) She gave me her cell phone number and every little question I had after surgery I texted her and she responded right away! Trust me, you will be hurting and scared and wanting to know what is normal and what is not. Lily always answered me promptly and eased my fears and concerns right away. This surgery is just as much an emotional roller coaster as it is physical. You definitely want someone who you feel is truly walking you thru it. Actually, Dr A even gave my mom (who took care of me the first week) HIS cell number for her to check in with him the day after surgery. Your care giver will have just as many concerns and questions as you after surgery and my mom GREATLY appreciated being able to have someone to ask questions to along the way of my recovery.
If you are wanting to have either a tummy tuck or breast augmentation here are a couple things you should know:
-You will swell ALOT after surgery.... like A LOT. And it will take weeks to get down to the size you were originally! I am 7 weeks post op now and am just now fitting in my original pants size. My swelling goes down a bit everyday but you should be prepared that you will not wake up from surgery skinny! lol From what I understand it could take up to a year of recovery to feel like yourself again.
-As far as my boobs, I never felt pain with them. I got my incision around my nipple and you can't even see the scar! They truly look amazing! I still have full feeling in BOTH my nipples and my boobs felt soft and natural right away. I was extremely impressed! I wanted to be around a size B and got 300cc's and they are PERFECT!! They are just enough to look amazing in lingerie but not noticeable to everyone else. Plus I am a fitness instructor and didn't want them to be bouncing all around the whole time I taught! lol
- I felt extreme (like incredible) pain for 3 days. The worst part was when I would cough, I felt like my abs were tearing apart! Also, I didn't fully grasp how hard it would be to breath afterwards. It was so incredibly hard to take a breath (because when your lungs and diaphragm expand, you feel it in every ab you have!). But it is so important to do your breathing exercises so your lungs don't collapse. That part was hard.
- I have had 4 c sections. Dr. A took all the scar tissue that I had accumulated from those surgeries (which was so much that my OB said if SHE would have attempted to remove it, I would have bled out on the table). Dr. A was not bothered by it and he also removed my c section scar and replaced it with the tummy tuck scar (which looks amazing!)
-I would highly recommend you going somewhere calm the first week after surgery so you can concentrate on healing. My mom didn't sleep the first two nights after surgery because she was changing my drains, giving me meds, giving me blood thinners or telling me it is time to walk (every 20 minutes) and she helped me in and out of the recliner each time. And trust me you will be in too much pain or too drugged up to keep track of everything. A good care giver is PRICELESS!!!
- I felt my recovery went very quickly. Every day was better than the day before and because I followed Dr. A's directions to the T, I even got my first drain out on day 7 and the second on day 10. (I walked literally EVERY 20 minutes!!)
I would highly recommend Dr. A to anyone who is thinking about cosmetic surgery (especially if you CARE what the outcome is!) and I will be using Dr. A in the future for my son who will need cosmetic reconstruction to fix the damage other surgeries (that were medically necessary) have caused.
