First off let me say this, Ultherapy was painful. It was 600 pulses that felt like electric shocks to your face and neck. It hurt more especially around the jaw line. They gave me 2 10mg valiums and 2 500mg thlenols and it still hurt . I have had a little swelling, tenderness and some numbness but otherwise I am ok. I'll post more pics as I progress.

I hear a lot of bad things about ultherapy

I've heard pros and cons, but that's with everything, right? For me, it's an alternative to a face lift that I think I'm too young for. My recovery so far is going great. I hope the results will be enough to warrant the cost.
September 6, 2015
Please keep us posted. Lots of us going through the same thing right now at the same timing into the procedure.

I'm 7 months post and happy. I think it really depends on the client and the practicioner.

I know, and her surgeon is the best! I have been to his office several times for a few procedures.

Absolutely and I think realistic expectations help. Having it done in December-hoping for the best.

I do think realistic expectations are important. I am
being patient and slowly seeing some improvement. I hope you get good results, Post about it so we can know how it goes.
November 3, 2015
Thanks. We are all looking for the same thing (even though we know that beauty starts on the inside)-a little improvement and to hold onto to it as much as possible. I am taking vitamin C and pycnogenol (a supplement you can get from whole foods) to try to help build up my collagen before and after the treatment. If you research pycnogenol you'll find that studies show it to be effective at building collagen too.

That is why I went to a Memphis plastic surgeon. Cost $1000 more ( I know where you went) but I got nerve blocks. I am 6 months out and very pleased!

I've had it twice ! And was Thrilled with the result ! It does hurt ... whoo !! But worth it ~ my skin responded Really well ~ I had swelling / tenderness & numbness along the jawline and occasional tingles ( I believe that's a good sign ) That resolved in a few weeks or a month ~ it takes 3 to 6 months to feel and see results ~ and collagen regeneration keeps going for probably a year ? Maybe more ? I'm a mix of Western European heritage / my friends who are more Italian etcetera didn't Seem to have as dramatic a result as I ... Sounds like you're on your way to a nice result ! Good Luck :)

Thanks I'm hoping for good results and am having just a little tenderness now.
September 16, 2015
I had slight tenderness for several months, which the plastic surgeon said is good, that the procedure was "really working."

Ambergirl424 / I don't understand how ultherapy effected your eyes ? I'm would love a Dr to comment on this / it looks like you developed fat deposits which form my knowledge are genetic / ultherapy didn't effect the ocular region of my eyes in any way / so sorry to hear !

Thanks! I have African, French, and Asian in me, (great skin-think Halle Barry but better) 51 and I am hoping for a good result. Having it done in December.
September 29, 2015
I just had mine done today, lower neck , had vicotin and one other drug 30 min before and 2 ibuprofen, I cried through the entire process. It felt like hot poker needles and even though the Dr. took breaks and told me to take deep breaths and relax it still was pretty unbearable for me. I am suppose to have a second session in 6 mos which I probably won't have, it was too painful for me.

Why do you keep advising people not to do ultherapy? I think everyone knows that even though Most people will get a great result, no procedure is guaranteed. Your result is not what most people can expect.

Ambergirl424, there is an overwhelming amount of horrible reviews for Ultherapy. Thank you for sharing your experience. I think it's important to share, be it negative or positive! It seems like most people are disappointed with their result :(
December 15, 2015
from one who has gone before. Don't waste your money on Ultherapy. I didn't notice a thing! It hurts and you'll end up with a lower facelift sooner because it does something odd to break down the tissue in your face. just say no!

333meg, why do you think it is your responsibility to judge, manage and edit the comments made on this site? If you are happy, be grateful and write as you like. To attack and ridicule to the point of disciplining another writer, really just comes off as, well, the "B" word! If this other poster had a bad experience, which she clearly has, and would like to vent and/or warn others, that's her right. Read it and move one. Do you sell these machines for goodness sakes? No? Then put it in perspective. I for one wish I had read posts like Ambergirl424 since it was just a waste of time and money for me. Everyone is different.

Admittedly I have a weak chin but my neck is tighter. Not sure it's worth what I paid yet. I have had no side effects at all really. I hope it my neck continues to tighten up and maybe my jowls get a little lift.

Thanks for the Ulthera review.
Do you think it was worth it money?
Perhaps its just a bad photo or bad lighting but to me your most recent photos appear more "jowly" and also your midface appears more flat and elongated?
Im not sure if i should get it done as its so expensive with no guaranteed results.

I believe Amber. So glad she is warning people. Brave and courageous are the best words to describe her.
[RS bleep] night actually describe yourself.

Now that she and others are stopping us to consider what these machines actually do, it makes total sense. They heat your skin from the inside out. If the setting is set to high or the machine is faulty for whatever reason, they fry you instead.

Maybe you work for Allergan?

WOW! What is your problem?
Can someone please get this abussive person out of Realself? Are you crazy? Why would you come here and start insulting people because they post their experience trying to help others? No one! Has to come in here and share their story good or bad, but they do it either to help others or to look for support. It is your prerogative to believe or not. That is your problem but you have no right to insult people, to call them fake or liars. It sounds like you are either crazy or you must work for the company who owns Ultherapy in which case, it only speaks very negatively of them. No laser or heating device machine such as ultherapy, thermage, fraxel, etc should ve used on people's faces. No one is saying that EVERYONE will have a bad result but many are getting them, people's faces are getting ruined. Othets love their results. Some see no difference. It is a gamble. Results are inconsistent and can damage people. I had Ulthetapy twice. I was happy with the first one even though there were some minor issues. Because I was happy, i did it again. And this second time it has caused me a lot of damage. Just like so many other women. Have a little heart and do not post insulting remarks to people that are going through a hard time. My God!! What kind of person are you?

Silly cat girl, if all these accounts you name had the same IP, the intelligent people that manage this website would have noted that by now, but go figure, we are all different people.

You are welcome and Thank you! You are helping a lot of people!
Its just strikes me funny that some people get so offended by well warranted criticisms of this or other procedures. They take it so personal , as if their religion is being attacked or a loved one. Just strange to me.

Aloha, I had Dr. tell me he did Ultherapy but then it turned into Athena he also did fillers & botox! I quit Botox as my body was not doing well breaking down the toxin plus I was getting odd looking like temple hollowing weird lumps I did this for about a year with him, I spent oh about $12,000 in about 6 months, I looked worse when looking back I looked pretty good before, anyways I think this Ultherapy is a hoax but if it works for people mentally GO for it! My point is I had to fix the damage & I am more than thrilled with the results, I am about the same age as you. I really could not stand looking at myself in the mirror I asked this particular PS if I needed to lift my jowls and cheeks as I as was drooping now, my jowls got worse with whatever he called it that week but of course his fix all was lets put botox there then filler I was like UGH another $3,000 so I said nope it needs to be fixed and fixed for a long time years! So I did & it is amazing, I had a few other things done while I as at it but it fixed my cheeks & my jowls it was night & day 2 days after the surgery I was blown away & guess what I didn't have to wait 2 months it was instant, it was surgery but if you look at the pictures you will see. Dr Peterson on Oahu, oh I live in Maui but anyways my PS took one look & said this will fix it! I was so excited I still am just because it feels so good not to have to hide all the weird side effects of the crazy things I was letting this other PS tell me, check out what is called an SMAS mini, its more for the jowls & cheeks it tightens the muscle so its long term, my beginning of jowls was the end I could not take it but they are fixed not full of filler or a frozen muscle from Botox, I really think it would be great for you my left side looked just like your right side but not anymore! It was pretty reasonable as well! Hope this helps, I apologize if I am being too nosey but I wish someone would have written to me before I spent all the money I did on worthless procedures expensive procedures at that!
Best of luck

I really appreciate your comment and suggestion. I am considering fillers in the 28th, thats another $1200 and I am still a bit afraid of surgery being drastic and costly and painful and risky. If the fillers don't do what I want then I will stop spending money on surgical alternatives and try to work up the nerve to find a good surgeon somewhere in this region and also I need to find the time to take off for recovery. I'm a single parent and all of this is just hard to fit Into my lifestyle and all I'm trying to do is look my best. I know being healthy and growing old gracefully is a blessing but it's so hard to see the changes on your face and body. If you or anyone can recommend a top notch surgeon in my area (Memphis tn) I'd love to That. I appreciate everyone's comments and hope I have helped by posting pics of my progress.
December 12, 2015
Hi. If you can, try to wait until you hit 6 months before putting any fillers. You most likely are still changing. What is the filler migrates because of the changes or you continue loosing volume and then looks weird. Wait a few months.
User Avatar
December 12, 2015
Thanks for saying that. I don't want to do anything to make me look weird or lumpy.
December 12, 2015
Try things like vitamins. c, Bs and D. And maybe PRP and red led light in the meantime until you stop changing. Good luck! I am going through changes as well.

Ok I see that webpage. Looks like there's only 2 places in Memphis that do PRP. I just posted an ask the dr question and put my pics up to see what a dr would think of my results and what is a good idea to do like wait til it's been 6 mos or do fillers or do PRP. I really appreciate your info.
December 12, 2015
Your welcome. I went to an anti-aging regenerative specialist. He thought is was the only thing in the meantime to try regenerate some. Not as a filler but for the regenerative effects. Plus vitamin c and Bs intravenous. Collagen rich foods. And really wait right now. Once it all stops. Might do fat transfer with stem cell. But for now, thr growth factors are my best bet. Hope that helped.
