RealSelf Community Guidelines
Welcome to RealSelf and our community. Our entire team is dedicated to making RealSelf a great place to share, learn, and gain confidence. We do our best to enforce our Community Guidelines, which are designed to block and remove attacks, spammers, and people who aren't contributing in a helpful way. We uphold guidelines for all community members as well as those that apply to participating doctors.
We ask our community members to uphold a few simple rules of conduct:
Be Real |
Post your personal experience. Don’t impersonate others, share hearsay or gossip. |
Be Nice |
Treat others how you would like to be treated. That means no foul language, insults, personal attacks, bullying or unsupportive comments. |
Be Transparent |
If you're affiliated with a product company or provider, identify this relationship to others. Don't write reviews when you have any potential conflict of interest, for example the doctor has given an incentive to write a review. |
Be Helpful |
Post useful content that is helpful to other community members. |
Be Thankful |
Tell a community member -- or vote for their contribution -- when it has made a difference. |
Be Unique |
Post your original opinions. Don’t post copyrighted material or content from other websites. |
Be a Consumer |
RealSelf is for consumer use only. Commercial posts and links are not allowed and will be removed. |
Be Safe |
Never share your contact details and don’t post about harmful or illegal practices. If you see something, report it here. |
BeHave |
All the standard rules of Internet forums apply here. Don’t spam, rant, post duplicate comments, post classified ads, off-topic posts, type in ALL CAPS or use RealSelf to further an agenda. |

RealSelf Doctor Community Guidelines
For doctors who are core aesthetic specialists: apply for a free profile
All members of the RealSelf doctor community have met eligibility requirements to maintain a professional profile and answer consumer questions on RealSelf.
In addition to the Community Guidelines above, these additional participation guidelines apply to the RealSelf doctor community:
Be Professional |
Represent yourself in a professional manner. Content must be original, and all sources referenced must be cited. Refrain from postings that are combative or disparage other community members or RealSelf's professional policies. In addition, any 'bullying' or 'threats' made to consumers by doctors within the RealSelf Community may result in the removal of the doctor from participation within the community. |
Be Relevant |
Your posted content (answers, videos, articles, etc.) should focus on addressing the consumer’s question. Postings that suggest readers depart RealSelf.com to view content that can be made available, or is already available, on RealSelf.com are subject to removal. In addition, commercial information that is overtly self-promotional (including invitations for in-office visits) are not allowed. Instead, let the quality of your contributions represent your work. You are responsible for the content posted on your profile. Authorization to post content on a doctor's behalf is assumed when content is posted via a doctor's user profile. All uploaded before & after photos must adhere to RealSelf photo guidelines. |
Be Honest |
RealSelf’s mission is to help build confidence in consumers’ aesthetic journeys. False reviews, “helpful vote” abuse and other dishonest gaming practices erode trust in confidence and will not be tolerated. Report possible violations here. |
Professional Conduct Review
Doctors who violate RealSelf’s guidelines risk potential, partial or complete removal of their participation in the RealSelf community.
A review process will be initiated in the event that three or more geographically non-competitive peers negatively report a participant's posts or behavior on RealSelf.com.

Dispute a Review on RealSelf?
We only remove reviews that violate our terms and conditions. We do not remove reviews on request. If you want a certain review removed, because you believe it violates our terms, it can be submitted using our contact form
