WORTH IT
I am currently recovering from my breast reconstruction surgery. I had a double mastectomy 5 years ago.I had a very suspicious area on both breasts w MRI was ruled precancerous. I am BRCA2+ and elected for a prophylactic double mastectomy w expanders placed. 2 sets of expanders later I had my implants!

Welcome, and thanks so much for sharing your story! I hope you'll enjoy being a part of this amazing community. Has your doctor suggested a timeframe before deciding on a bigger implant? Please keep us updated.

I've had a 6 day post op with my dr we discussed it's a volume issue. My personal preference is not to go with saline again. I had DD saline implants prior to my mastectomy. I'm really loving the natural feel of the Mentor MemoryGels. I actually need the 1200 or 1400 Mentor that are not out yet. He said they may be out in the next year. Im early in my healing, Hoping the bottom rounds out more and it's starting to. I like the more natural look and feel vs the obviously implant look. I'm on a serious weight loss journey so a smaller breast fits in with my ideal fit and leaner body. I'm still deciding!

I'm glad you've discussed things with your doctor, and I'm looking forward to following your progress. We all know how much weight loss can change the shape of our bodies, and I'm sure you'll be able to make a confident choice once you reach your goal weight. Good luck!

Hi it’s now been 7 years and to be honest, they look absolutely great. I get so many compliments people actually think they’re a breast lift not a reconstruction. I’m getting ready to go back and get them exchanged for the bigger size finally and get my tummy tuck. I am still in the weight loss process again and once that’s finished in about six months, I will be scheduling surgery for the tummy tuck and the revision with Dr. Diaz, he is amazing. He is an artist am so blessed to have him as my plastic surgeon.

My 6 day post op check up answered my question about fullness- it's a volume issue with my breasts I need more volume apparently. I'm wanting to do the new Mentor 1200-1400 cc silicone gels but they're not out yet. I'm not going back to saline- I love the natural feeling of these gels. I'm starting to round out a little. It's very early and I'm hoping I round out more I think I will. My weight loss goals and a leaner body will be in line with smaller breasts I just don't want any sag. Dr Diaz is absolutely the best ! I'm going to keep working with him on it - and eventually get a tummy tuck. He is a true artist.

Starting to change and round out but not in a way I'm very happy with. My breasts look very droopy. Not full on top at all. I'm not happy at this point and I've realized I'm going to have to have a revision. Seriously considering all options. I've been extensively researching and even with the issues I had previously at time of surgery I was not having any. This result is not at all what it should be - not happy.
