For years now I had been considering undergoing a breast augmentation. I had always felt my shoulders were far too broad and with people consistently commenting on my non existent boobs summer quickly became my least favourite season due to it being bikini weather (there is not enough padding in those darn things). Initially I googled every possible surgeon, the positives and the possible disasters, looked at numerous photos of boobs (enough to rival an adolescent male) and YouTubed every type of the procedure, however the pivotal turning point being that a few friends had undertaken augmentations themselves and were so happy with the results that I actually booked in some consultations. It was through word of mouth that I found Richard Bloom (and yes I googled the hell out of him too!!!), anyone that completes facial procedures I believed I could entrust the care of my breasts! I had two consultations, the first to ensure I was making the right decision for myself, the second being to confirm sizing and for the further questions I had been stressing over to be answered. Richards assistant Kirsty is beyond lovely, returning every email and call promptly. The morning of my operation I was probably the most scared I had ever been in my life, I actually did not believe I was going to go through with the surgery, vocalising this multiple times that morning =). I had never been under a general anaesthetic and had researched every possible complication that could arise. The formal processes were quick, the very kind anaesthetist Ben Jones placing me under general so gently and I was in and out of surgery within hours. The team at the Linley Clinic are fantastic, Cherry and Trudie being the most beautiful, caring nurses I have had the pleasure of meeting. The recovery process was a lot less painful than I had expected and I was back at work within the week. I'm not a pain relief kind of person, only using a couple of the prescribed painkillers the first few nights to ensure I could sleep to promote recovery. I do admit however that the third day was the worst, with the swelling (I felt a bit top heavy, regretting my choice of size and feeling so sorry for my shiny, tight skin), the constant ache on my chest and the boredom, I did question why I had paid to have done this to myself. By the fourth day I was cleaning and vacuuming and driving by the sixth (changing to lower gears was a little uncomfortable). No one has noticed the change, the comments only being from the few people I had informed, this being exactly what I had been after. Prior to surgery I started with an A-B cup and now have a very natural D. In clothes I look as if I am still sporting a padded bra however out of clothes my breasts are full and in proportion to my frame. My incisions are so neat and small, fitting perfectly beneath the fold of the breast. I finally took the plunge and could not be happier with the outcome.

At the peak of recovery discomfort, it's not uncommon to ask yourself why you paid to do this to yourself. So glad you were able to get through the day and begin to enjoy your results. Congratulations and thank you for sharing your story with us on RealSelf!

Do you have any photos as I'm considering going with dr bloom? Also did you go above or below the muscle?
