Rhinoplasty with Dr. Umang Mehta - Bay Area, CA

Dr. Mehta is an amazing surgeon who has changed my life! I had rhinoplasty June of this year, and just wanted to share my experience. Initially I had found Dr. Mehta by doing online research on surgeons in Northern California. I'm temporarily in the Sacramento area for a doctorate degree, but grew up in the Bay Area, so I was comparing rhinoplasty surgeons in numerous cities to ensure that I would get exceptional and professional treatment and results. What helped me in selecting Dr. Mehta were his credentials in comparison to other surgeons. He's DOUBLE board certified, has years of experience under his belt, studied at credible institutions - one being Stanford, practiced in Beverly Hills which shows his expertise, has trained other students/residents, corrects rhinoplasty mistakes of other surgeons, and specializes specifically in rhinoplasty and facial reconstructive surgery whereas other surgeons I researched seemed to be all over the place. I emailed his office and received prompt and courteous responses from the team - kelly, jill, and katelyn. All three are super friendly and professional, and made me feel valued. To me, that's huge because if the staff is polite, professional, and efficient in answering questions that patients may have, it says a lot about the doctor; and so I find Dr. Mehta's practice, policies, and the high quality and standards with which the place is operated to be quite impressive. These were all helpful to see when I assessed if the place was right for me. I then went to the consultation appointment and Dr. Mehta and katelyn took my photos so that Dr. Mehta could produce digital images of the potential after pictures. We first had a discussion about what my concerns were about my nose (dorsal hump, deviated septum, nose tilting slightly to the left), why I wanted a rhinoplasty, what shape I desired, etc. He listened to me, which was key, and then also gave me his professional opinion. We came up with 5 or so images that we liked, with one being my favorite. What I appreciated was that I had ample time, without any pressure to think at home and decide on which image I liked and the option to change it. Its so good that he understands different cultures and diversity in the concept of beauty so well. After the selection, Dr. Mehta's team accommodated my summer rotation schedule and gave me many options on the months and days for surgery. I locked in to the surgery date, signed the paperwork, gave my deposit money at the pre op appointment, katelyn went over the medication and care instructions, and then came the day before surgery. Before the surgery Dr. Mehta came and was so friendly, reassuring, and he quickly reminded me of our goals for the surgery. This really put me at ease. Anyway, surgery took place, I was in great hands. Dr. Mehta personally spoke with my parents in the waiting area. My parents struggle with english, and (parents told me) Dr. Mehta was so humble and kind and communicated with them in hindi/urdu. So after the surgery and and the next day we received checkup calls from Dr. Mehta. What was also comforting was the option to call or email him after surgery if I experienced more pain or nausea, or if I had more questions about recovery. I went in for my appointment 6 days later, where the stent and stitches were removed, and Dr. Mehta examined my nose and progress. He answered my questions, gave me nose exercise instructions, etc. Throughout the first two weeks the swelling in my nose went down day by day, and I began to see the results, although not fully since it takes a couple of months for that. I am truly truly happy with the results, and am so thankful I am in the right hands. I went in to see Dr. Mehta for my appointment just yesterday, and the progress after my surgery is coming along just great! I can breathe much better, smell properly, and look great. I'm sooooo happy I made the decision to get a rhinoplasty with Dr. Mehta. He's such a humble and down to earth individual. I took a leap of faith with Dr. Mehta with rhinoplasty - I didn't know anyone personally who had this procedure and in the bay area and with this doc, but I did do my research carefully and am satisfied with the results. Amazing doc, and I highly recommend getting a rhinoplasty with Dr. Mehta! I feel much happier and more confident thanks to his hard work. Best wishes to other patients!
