Worth It

My experience with travelling to Colombia and having surgery done with Dr.Mejia was positive. During my consultation I saw that he knew exactly what I was trying to achieve. I love my new nose. Thank you Dr.Mejia

I had been unhappy with my nose for a while now. I researched for yearss looking at doctors all across North America. I honestly never thought I'd leave North America but when I saw the before and afters from the doctors in Colombia I was amazed. I did find a doctor in California I was planning on going to but after seeing a review on Realself for Dr.Mejia I knew I wanted him to do my rhinoplasty. The main issue I had with my nose was the size.

I contacted Dr.Mejia through WhatsApp and he responded fairly quickly. After I received the quote I sent the deposit to his Bank of America account and everything was booked! I was super excited to have everything finalized. I also decided to hire Ivan for transportation.

When I landed in Colombia, Ivan was there to pick me up from the airport. I definitely recommend purchasing his transportation package. He was a huge help and super nice. When we were driving into Medellin I remember being blown away with how beautiful the city was. Medellin is gorgeous!! The people are amazing and so friendly, everyone is so good looking as well lol male and female.

The day after was my consultation. Dr.Mejia was very welcoming and he speaks perfect English. The consultation went by quickly, I showed him what I hoped to achieve and he assured me he could get me the results. I also met with the anesthesiologist, he was so friendly and I felt much better about being put under anesthesia after meeting with him. My surgery was the next day.

The day of surgery Ivan accompanied me. I was really nervous but knew I was in good hands. Check in was quick and then I was taken to the back where I was given the surgical gown to change into. Dr.Mejia came by to check on me and the nurse then administered the anesthesia. I knocked out REALLY fast and next thing you know I woke up in the recovery room. I wasn't in any pain after I woke up but my throat was super dry. I was also extremely out of it when I woke up. One thing I did not like is there is not much privacy in the recovery room and you're in the room with other patients. When I had to change out of the surgical gown they wheeled my bed to the corner of the same room. In the moment I didn't care because I was out of it. When I got to the waiting room Ivan and nurse Gloria were there. Gloria is such a sweet heart and I definitely recommend hiring her if you want post op care. She walked to the store and got me soup after we returned to the hotel. After I ate the soup I felt much better. The day of surgery all I really wanted to do was sleep. Something to keep in mind is I honestly felt 0 pain, it's just uncomfortable because you can't breathe through your nose. The swelling that day wasn't really bad either.

Day 2-4 were bad in terms of swelling with day 3 being the worst for me. I recommend not looking in the mirror too much for the first week. I remember second guessing myself a lot during that time because of how bad I looked. I was taking arnica and bromelain from the 1st day and I do feel like it helped with the bruising and swelling.
