I had Radiesse in my upper cheek area almost 3 months ago . Here is my story . Went in to have my slight eye bags corrected . I already had Belotero done in my tear trough area . My PS suggested Radiesse . So I trusted he choice . The needle hurt like heck !!! I did swell but had minor bruise's . About a week later I started to like I was coming down with a sinus infection . Then every week after that I started to get sharp shooting pains in my cheek area . Still having the heavy feeling in my top teeth and my nose hurt . At 5 weeks I got a little bit of redness after a workout session . I got so nervous . The funny thing is , is that the redness appeared to be where my Belotero was placed , not my Radiesse . I took a Benadrly and try to go to bed later that night . The next morning I went to see my GP . He had no clue . I called my PS . He called in a steroid and levaquin for me . Over the course of the week my pains got worse . Now they were in my ear , up near my eye , jaw line . I had 2 full weeks of this . The steroids did help I must say. But I was still in alot of pain . My face looked fine . I went to see the PS about 2 weeks after this . He checked for granulomas . He thought it was TMJ . So I went to see a TMJ doctor . Nothing !! At this point I was sure the Radiesse was the problem . Now I have a Neuro appt. in a few weeks hoping to get some help / and or answers . My pain has done down thank goodness . BUT it seems to come back more so in the evenings . Not as bad as it was , but it feels like I have heavy cheeks , still some sharp shooters and my jaw area hurts a bit . Most of the day I am pretty ok . I do sleep ok at night with the help of some xanax my GP gave me . I was so anixous over all this . If anyone can shed some light on my story that would greatly help ???? ! I am at a loss to what is going on . Like I said , I look fine , no lumps , red welts , etc . Just is all internal . I will NEVER get any filler EVER again !!!!!! I am done with this crap !!!!!!!!! Thanks for reading :)

Same with me! I had Perlane .5 cc injected in cheek and now have trigeminal neuralgia and take neurontin and have to see a neurologist. Pain is diminishing somewhat but it's been 2.5 months. There is no reason a board certified PS or derm should be injecting in such a reckless way.

Thanks for your post Summer girl !!!! Do you have TN or is it just the product pressing on the trigeminal nerve ? Does the neurontin help you ? My pain is not as bag as it was . But its still there . I am going to see a neuro today and see what he says .

Yes, the neurontin helped a lot!!! Makes you foggy, though. Even though that pain is better for me, the 2 periosteal bruises I have will take 6-10 months to heal and the R side of my face is swollen and my doc won't help.

That is great to hear !!! Hang in there i have heard the side effects of neurontin will sub side . That really stinks that your DR . will not help :( I know the feeling . Mine pretty much told me my problems are everything but the Radiesse . Well they are not as I have been to alot of Dr's / specialists who ALL said the product is the issue .

Your strong and your doing the right thing by further investigating it
Don't stop as they will do everything possible to discourage you from requesting answers but starts by asking for the batch number of Radiesse that was used on you and detailed examination .
My heart hurts when I read your story and many others . How manipulative some doctors are I feel sick to my stomach . Please do some research on medications as well please , it's side effects .
I hope to god you will get better .

Did you ever get answers to this? How do you feel now? I got radiesse for my smiles lines and on my temples. I feel pressure in my sinuses and feels a strange sensation on my top teeth. I also have been having neck pain and strange feelings in my jaw.

No I did not . The PS who injected me dismissed it ever being the radiesse . He claimed it was everything but . Now a year 1/2 later , I know it was CLEARLY the Radiesse . I had the same feeling as you . Except I had alot of pain in my upper cheek area . This is where the product was injected . Right now I feel alot better than I did . I still get pain in my upper cheek area , but thats only when my allergies act up . The product is still in there . I can tell because the slight circles i had under my eye area are not back yet . The best advice I can give it to just wait it out . Time is your best friend right now . I know it may be scary and painful . This is how it was for me for MONTHS and Months ! I am not sure tough as to why you are having neck pain . I never experienced this . Did you contact your injector ?

8 months post
Radiesse
christylvJanuary 2, 2016
Its been almost 8 months since my original injections with Radiesse . I still truly will never put this stuff in my face again . Pain has subsided , but not fully 100% back to my normal self . I hope in the months to come things keep getting better . I did not write my Review on Radiesse to bash the Dr. who injected me . I noticed shortly after my review on Dr LE . A bunch of positive reviews had showed up . I know Dr's care alot about there image . BUT , I simply just wanted some help from others who had similar experiences with this Product . Also to warn people about the side effects of radiesse . Good luck to everyone who has injectables done !!!! I know they are very popular and can have positive outcomes for alot of women :)

Hi ! The Radiesse is still in my cheeks . It has not gone away completely . Hopefully some day :)

Was any doctor ever able to tell you why you had these shooting pains? Was it a strange reaction to the product? Was it how it was injected?
June 30, 2017
Hi ! Yes , i had went to see a few different dr's . Not plastic surgeons . But an ent , neurologist , general md , an oral maxillofacial surgeon , and i also went and got an MRI done . No it was not a strange reaction to the radiesse . It was the radiesse pressing on my trigeminal nerve . In both sides of my face . This would be due to how the product was injected , where it was injected , and also how much was injected .

Hi - how long did it take you to recover? I am suffering nerve pain in my cheek following filler injection. It has been 10 months now. Do you remember how long until you recovered completely? Did you take medication?

I am in the same situation following cheek fillers pain and burning in cheeks ear and headache plz does the pain get better with time as i am very worried and depressed thx
August 13, 2019
Hi ! :) For me , yes the pain did get better as the product SLOWLY dissolved . It takes lots of time . Your pain should subside over time . Unless , it is nerve damage . Then I believe it is permanent :( . If things seem to be getting a little bit better , than you probably are on your way to recovery . But be patient , this is not a easy part I know . Still to this day , when my sinues act up from seasonal allergies I get that pressure in my cheek area . This was not like this before I got the Radiesse . So I know the product is still in my face . One because of the pressure feel , Two , the results from the radiesse are still there . Hang in there ! Have hope :) Let me know if you have any other questions .?
