56 Starting With Upper Bleph & Fractional CO2 Laser - McLean, VA
ORIGINAL POST
I've decided to do a few things but I don't...
WORTH IT$4,000
I've decided to do a few things but I don't believe in generalists and I prefer to start slow. Need a primary functional rhinoplasty expert, eye person, lower face/neck, chin implant, filler work...Started with my upper eyelids when I found an expert. Added fractional laser because it was also on my list, it's a low risk procedure, price was fair, their experience excellent. I'd be at home recovering anyway. Glad I did it. So far so good. Only regret is I wish I'd gone under anasthesia for the laser. Even w Valium and Vicodin they couldn't crank it up. If I'd spent $1K for anasthesia I wouldn't need another $1,100 treatment with $1,000 for anasthesia.

I think you look amazing!!!
May I ask how much was the blephroplasty?- was it $4000 including laser treatment or $4000 only eyelids?
Also how many appointments with DrR did you have prior your surgery?
Was surgery very painful only with Valium and Vicodin?
Thank you so much!

Thanks for the kind words. I have a really great doctor. That's the key! It was $4,000 for the eyelids. $1,100 for the CO2 fractional laser and there was a $400 facility fee. The eyelid surgery wasn't painful at all without anasthesia. The skin was totally numbed with injections. The eyes with drops. When I felt a little weird pressure, I'd let her know and more numbing drops would be applied.
The laser though was painful. I have sensitivity issues I think. I've had IPL before and my doctor thought so. To make the laser cost effective, they need to really zap you. I should have let them knock out. Being from Southern California, going to college in Arizona, used to have a client in Hawaii, Irish heritage....I have lots of sun damage. Not sure multiple laser treatments under anasthesia is cost effective ($2,200 each). I'm going to ask about peels!

Thank you SOOO much for reply. I am seriously considering upper blepharoplasty and your comments helps me HUGELY!!!!.
May I ask how many time s did you see DrR before the surgery(regarding this surgery)? Just one appointment about the eyelids or more? Did she suggested CO2 treatment or you wanted it? Have you done any more procedures with her besides laser? Do you have any injections in your Tear Through?
How are your scars now-can you see it without makeup? How soon could you wear make up after surgery?
How soon can you go to pubic after surgery?
Wwere you prescribed pain meds after surgery-did you need it? What meds? Was it painful afterwards?
I am very sorry for asking so many questions-I know it takes time for you to answer, but your answers are sooo helpful to me and I very sincerely grateful for your answers..
Thank you again!

Hi, I was going through my thread and I came across your question. It doesn’t look like it was attached to my count until this update. Not sure if you’ve had your procedure yet but I thought I’d answer just in case you still are interested. I only saw Dr. Rostami once before I jumped in. I have to say I was pretty impulsive. I liked her very much and knew she was very qualified so I just went for it! My husband was fine with the money and I felt like I would back out if I didn’t just sign the contract. I wanted upper lids and neck lipo, plus fraxel for my sun damage. She had a CO2 fraxel. She didn’t push any procedures. However, she suggested a lower facelift which I chickened out of because it turned out I’m not a candidate for neck lipo. Not enough elasticity at my age. I’d end up with a turkey wattle. I need either a neck lift or lower/MACS facelift. I’m planning that for Spring 2018. Maybe with Dr. Rostami but possibly with Dr. Davidson of Davinci Plastic Surgery in NW DC. His facelifts look fabulous and I’ve heard great things. As for other procedures with Dr. Rostami, no other surgery. Just fillers. Sculptra which I reacted to but it’s ok you can’t see the nodules that developed because she didn’t inject too much my first round and she injected it correctly, very deeply. Also juvederm and restylane. In all cases she’s injected conservatively. I go back and she does more. Results are natural. I think she’s an excellent doctor. Honest. Professional. She knows her stuff. Recently they had a special for Botox and fillers. She wasn’t available so I saw her young partner, Dr. Naz. She was great too. I had tear trough filler last time. Everyone tells me I look amazing. Totally takes off years having your tear troughs filled especially when combined with Botox around our crows feet, between your eyes and around your forehead. Gets rid of the tired, haggard look. All my girlfriends are doing it now. No one can see my upper eye lid scar at all. Totally invisible. No one could see it 2 weeks after the procedure. It really is hidden in your lid fold. Dr. Rostami does it right. A little foundation hides the little redness but I went out with the stitches in and no one noticed! She gave me a prescription for pain meds after. The eyelid surgery was barely painful, it was the laser. Sorry I didn’t see this until now, at least I don’t think so because I don’t see where I ever answered you. Brook

????Better than I was born with
My eyes were never this pretty. Dr. R lifted the outer corners of my upper lids to deal with the hooded skin caused by aging which also improved the shape of my eyes. I hope my final result is like this. It's so awesome to wear mascara again:) Laser procedure? Healed. Hoping it helps w collagen regen. Helped w some of my CA AZ HI sun damage.

Your surgeon paid more attention than most do to lifting your outer lid so I guess that has produced the result you refer to as "better than you were born with". It does look great when PS know to do this and it also seems that she compensated for the fact that the left eye looked in your befores to be a bit more laterally hooded (could be lower brow position). Anyway she balanced that out surgically and the result is perfect. Your point that it is nearly impossible to find in any one PS the ability to deliver expert results across the platform of procedures is sooooo right. You can find one who does lower Face lifts with perfect outcomes each and every time yet his eyes are just not all that good or his brow lifts are largely ineffective. I know there is a desire to "get it all done at once while you're in the chair" but in many cases it seems a better strategy to find the best provider of each service/procedure and just accept the additional downtime. You do look great....and thanks for the clear pics, Appreciate the straight on shots with no headbands, scarves, towels etc which pull the brow back and make the eye appear more open!

Thanks for the feedback Grace. I wish I could believe in one stop shopping. Just do it all at once. Sigh. As for pics, I think we girls owe each other real pictures. I'm not perfect, that's for damn sure:) Not even going to try to fake it. Buy it. Not enough $$$!!! And how boring anywho.

I think you look great! Even before the procedures you look really good for your age. I
think you have a nice jawline & your chin looks good too, just saying.... :-)

You are toooo kind!!! Much appreciated:) We are all too hard on ourselves probably. Going slow. Don't want to end up on that show Botched. Though my parents do live 2 miles from those docs!

Thank-you my dear. Your story, your input was of great help. I am so grateful to you. I learned so much. I fear my success made me overconfident though. I recently had Sculptra injections. Fortunately just 2 vials total. All properly injected, of course. I'm having a reaction. Have a couple of lumps. Totally freaking! I didn't read up on Sculptra on Real Self before going forward. Odds are excelllent I will be fine but hello! Clearly vanity before sanity in action. Ugh. Hope you're doing well and thanks again.

You look awesome. Congrats. I consulted Dr. R for both upper and lower bleph. Please keep us posted.

Thanks:) I really like her. Zero complaints. Eyes still looking good. Haha! Our relationship is coming along. Fillers. I should have paid attention when she told me Sculptra injections have more potential issues than Juvederm. I mean thought about what a lunatic I am when I have the slightest bit of a "reaction" to stuff done to my face. My bad. True to form, she's totally there for my insanity.
Very interesting information about men versus women getting this surgery. It's nice you had a pre med to help you relax a bit. I would be nervous about even injecting the numbing agent! Thank you for sharing these details...and good to know about the painful fractional laser zaps too! Keep us posted!
