56 Starting With Upper Bleph & Fractional CO2 Laser - McLean, VA

One year later, so glad I did it. Added tear trough filler recently too.

WORTH IT$4,000
Scars are invisible and have been for months thanks to the skill of my surgeon. I’m so glad I did my homework here on Real Self. Just last week a friend in McLean told me the “plastic surgeon” who did her upper and lower lids was in fact a dentist. Her complications worked out but she had a great deal of pain and worry. Is she a stupid woman? No. She has a JD from the University of Chicago and an equally smart friend referred her to this guy who makes a fortune as an unqualified surgeon.
I had my tear troughs filled 2 weeks ago, plus Botox around my crows feet, between my brows and in my forehead. A little in my smoking lines and in my lips. Filler is so painful in and round my lips. You girls that get your lips filled, you are my sHeroes! My girlfriends think I look great, super refreshed, and they’re all getting their tear troughs done, plus the Botox or at least the Botox.

How painful is the tear trough filler? That scares me!
sorry for the slow response. I have to fix my notifications. It didn’t really hurt. My doctor first numbed the area where she planned to insert the cannula, the needle through which she loaded the filler, with a topical anesthetic. The filler used has a numbing agent too so it isn’t painful going in, just feels weird! As she told me it was kind of lumpy feeling for about a week. Looked great but felt weird. Then smoothed our to the touch. Xo
You do look great! Congratulations. I just had my upper lids done 3 months ago and I'm so glad I did. Still working through the scaring and the bumps. I've never heard of filling my tear troughs, I don't even know what that is! I would really like to see you in a photo smiling. Does it look natural?
Hi thanks so much for the kind words and congratulations on your upper lid surgery! The bumps and scars will vanish before you know it. Everyone seems to wake up one day and there’s nothing there! I just wrote a new review on my tear trough filler. It should be posted tomorrow. People have their tear troughs filled when they either don’t need or don’t want to have (yet) their lower lids lifted. As long as you have a qualified person inject you who used the right kind of filler the results are very natural. The danger lies in the person who doesn’t know what they’re doing who injects sculptra or silicone! Those are the stories for the show “Botched” yikes! We have each other here on Real Self and good doctors here to save us from that. xo
Thanks! I'm not ready to do my lower lids, they just don't seem that bad, yet, so maybe I'll check it out.
I’m the same. Lower lid surgery is trickier and more painful too. Have fun:)
Brook- You look very fab! So fab, in fact, that I made an appointment right away with Dr. R. at Sanctuary for an upper eyelid bleph. I can tell you do your research well, and you under eye troughs look great as well. So..... any recos for the best botox and filler doctor / spa/ place ?
Congratulations and thanks for the nicest compliments! You will be so happy with your results. I wish I’d done the surgery years ago. As for Botox, filler, spa Dr. Rostami has a great one. Her prices seem in line with our area. When she runs specials is the best time to go of course! Last time I did Botox it was 30% off. I have heard about a dermatologist with a very good rep, Dr Kate Sowerwine. Enjoy your transformation. You deserve it!
I’m looking for a consult for under eye circles. I’m feeling after reading your review it should be with a doctor that specializes I eyes. I just got filler In my cheeks which was supposed to lessen the appearance of the circles but it doesn’t seem to have worked and I think my cheeks look like beach balls! I’m kinda new to RS is the doctor you used in your review? maybe I’ll take a trip to see her/him for a consult. thanks so much for your updates. they are helpful. no one stop shopping for me either! best Jill

People Really Do Say "You Look Great! Did You Do Something?"

I'm sorry I waited so long. Scars healing. Swelling resolving. Sometimes my right eyelid seems droopy. That eye is smaller anyway so it needs to stay open. My Dr. is great. If it doesn't resolve along with swelling/healing, she will fix it. Sculptra swelling is pretty much gone. Terrifying lumps too. Waiting for collagen;-)

Thank you for sharing your experience with the community and generously sharing photos! Your results are beautiful. I definitely need an upper bleph, can't even see my eyelashes anymore, lol. Best wishes!
Do it if you can girlfriend:) Choose your doctor with caution. Thank you for the kind words!

Stitches Out Doing Well, Except Sculptra Stress!!!

Stitches came out and I'm still a happy camper. So nice to wear mascara again. Haha! I have "borrowed" makeup from my 15 year old daughter. Payback! Some pain when the stitches were pulled from my right lid. Ow. Some swelling caused temporary asymmetry, more than I have anyway. Obsessed about that until it settled. I'm such a spazz.

Yet I go ahead. Then obsess and drive myself, family and PS cray cray if there are complications, even imagined ones. I try to avoid anything likely to cause any kind of "complication." I should have sherlocked Sculptra here before asking my excellent, expert PS to give me my first round of the stuff. I'm sure it's going to be fine, but the recovery and my reaction to the product is just too stressful for me. Fellow neurotics;-) Beware!

There are 2 female oculo's at this McLean practice....did you consider both or did you only consult with Rostami based on some set of criteria?
Good question. Just Dr. Rostami. More experience. Senior position at Reston Hospital. Heavier hitter in my opinion.
Did you discuss lower eye surgery at any point and if you had opted for that would it have been possible to do with local anesthesia? Did you consider anyone at the equally expensive Weston Group :)
Haha! Didn't come across the Weston Group:) I only talked to Dr. Le from Philadelphia besides Dr. R. He's an eye specialist too, though he is board certified only in ophthalmology. He comes to Silver Spring once a month. My paperwork said upper lids and possible lateral browlift. He came in the room and said "lower lids?" So I guess I need them! But I didn't ask! Seriously, Dr. R didn't think I needed my lower lids done or a brow lift. I agree. I need filler for sure. Figure I'll try that first. Before I do a brow lift, I'll do a lower face lift. Sigh:-0
I wasn't suggesting you needed a lower :) ~ often in consult they just roll out options and I thought maybe they mentioned if they do lowers under local as well. Some do only uppers that way and insist on GA when doing both. Just curious given how well your surgery results are if that ever got mentioned.
