My experience with Sculptra has been positive in the long run, but I'm not going forward with additional injections. A few hours after I left my PS, who is an expert injector, I experienced swelling, pain and lumps at most of the injection sites. The pain at these sites was so severe, massaging the product into my face as required for proper distribution was agony.
Swelling, redness, lumps and pain slowly resolved over the next 8 days. Today, 4 months later I have only 2 lumps left neither of which can be seen. My PS is an expert - thank goodness - who injected the product properly (deep). The lumps may be my fault. It may be I did not adequately massage the product in these 2 places. I did my best. Massaging my face was truly painful. If I'd had any Percocet around, I'd have taken it.
I really like the Sculptra concept and I think I look better, but I can't go through the reaction cycle again. I'll go with a lower risk filler like Juvederm XC. I've had Juvederm before without issue and it's reversible unlike Sculptra.

I love it that you are so candid about your experience. Othe rpatient appreciate to hear about your experience. Sculptra is not for everyone since there is recovery period and multiple treatment sessions. But it is the best product for volumizing the face. and majority of people get the final result after second injection session. I am so happy that you are seeing some changes now. as the time progresses the face look even better. The sculptra even improves the skin quality. I will be happy to help you with any other filler if you desire.

I thought it might help other women who have an adverse reaction to see it gets better. You are the best:) I love my result. ResultS. Everything we've done. I wish I wasn't so sensitive to Sculptra. I love the product, if I just didn't react to it:( I'll be in to see you soon for something else and some Botox too! I'm also bringing my friend Robin to see you. She's researching aging solutions!

I think you can tell the difference and it does look better, but I hear you on if you had that much pain I could understand why you wouldn't want to do it again. I hope you re-post and show if the results last a lot longer than the other fillers. Yes, I know it's suppose to stimulate collagen regrowth but I'd just like to know. I also appreciate you shared your experience on here because you're my age. I sometimes look at the pictures and see these gals in their 20's and 30's getting this stuff done. I never would have done anything when I was that young cause I had such great skin til I hit 50... ug, the battle.. lol

I definitely think it works. I just had a bad reaction to the product. I will post more pictures in a couple of months for sure. I think I'm still generating collagen. It takes 6 months to see the full effect. Agree with you about the young gals in their 20's and 30's having work done. It seems odd to me too. I wasn't a beauty queen but I looked pretty darn good! Oh well. I guess they're making the very most of their youth, or maybe they're making themselves into Instagram stars and making a killing on social media. I'm with you, just trying to fight the REAL battle. LOL!

You do look a lot better.. keep up with the pictures. I go tomorrow to my plastic surgeon for the fillers cause I'm scared to try something new. But then again I was scared to do the fillers 5 years ago and now I love them... I think you look FAB :)

Thank you for sharing! Even though everyone may react differently, it really helps those of us making choices knowing the potential issues that may arise - and what we can possibly do to help alleviate complications. Hope you continue to respond well not that you've been able to work out most of nodules. Your face shape and skin look beautiful!

I have had five vials of Sculptra over the course of the last year and a half and have had really wonderful results. I tend to bruise severely from the injections and it is very painful to massage those areas five times a day, but I have pushed through that and usually by the third day it is not painful anymore. I never developed any lumps since I was very diligent about the massaging. I'm sorry that you are not completely satisfied with your sculptra experience. I couldn't be happier with mine.

I have had Sculptra a few times and have the exact same experience as you. I don't take any fish oils or aspirin for 2 weeks before, and after the injections I ice for as long as directed, take bromelain supplements un addition to Arnica ,and keep massaging though my faceiss very tender. This is a must. I still bruise but the supplements help, I think. Worth it, and I'm 66.
