Years ago in a foolish attempt to try and save my marriage (Nope, that didn't work) I had under muscle saline implants placed. Liked them for many years, but as I age (62) I want to be free of these heavy things. I have endured years of awful neck and shoulder pain, my hair is thinning and my joints ache. I have also gained a lot of weight and maybe it's my age but I can't take it off, granted I am not steady in working out..but I do walk my sweet 18 yr old dog, Daisy 2-3 times a day.
Have you ever felt as though you have to lift the implants to get the pressure off your chest? I do, frequently, and feel like they are crushing my ribs and heart. I am waiting for an all clear mammogram result which should be ready tomorrow. Just to be safe, Dr. Setty said.

All clear today from mammogram. Tomorrow is THE day! So nervous but I take strength in reading your positive results.

Your implants look like real boobs. I know you posted a photo and said "droopy" but to me that's what makes them not look like implants. :) I bet you've got lots of real boob in there. Can't wait to see your result! Good luck tomorrow!!! XO

Let's hope! Thank you for the support, it's all hitting pretty hard this evening.

Well I can't speak from experience as I haven't decided what to do yet but from what I've read over the few months, everyone is happy to be free of the implants. I'm 44 and I believe I have capsular contracture as mine feel hard and some aching happening now and then. I'm a full B/small C so I've enjoyed the size but it's been nearly 20 yrs and time to eliminate altogether or revise. Reading everyone's journey is helping me figure out my next steps and moreover helping me learn so that I know enough to ask a lot of questions when I start consultations. You'll be fine! I'm of the belief, we take action cuz we listen to our instincts and the universe/God. Since you're doing it, it must be the right move. Say goodbye to your aches and pains! :)

Congrats on getting them out! I'm explanting in April it can't come soon enough! I saw a woman at the gym and her boobs didn't move at all when she jumped- it looked just so Barbie doll and I felt bad for her, for all of us who have changed our bodies to feel better about ourselves. Healthy healing good luck!!!

Thank you so much, yes! Day 3 and this may have been the worse so far, it's not really pain though. It is just uncomfortable and I feel the skin pulling as it's healing. Nothing horrible on any of the days so far. I was afraid of that, and I just shouldn't of been. Thank you so much.

Your story sounds a lot like mine! Saline implants 16 years ago and I'm now 58 and wanting them out! I went from an "A" cup to a "D" and am feeling the heaviness and pain in my shoulders and neck as well. I live the the DFW area and am anxious to hear how your procedure went as I am VERY interested in this procedure. Good Luck!!!

It went so well, Dr. Naveen Setty in McKinney is just fantastic. Kind, thoughtful, great listener and all the nurses at the hospital love him and complimented me on choosing him! They said he is an "expert" and that was great to hear just before going under. I get the drains out Monday so I'll finally get to see them. I am doing sponge baths even though I have waterproof bandage. I am a bit light headed and don't want to fall. I'll let you know, but I think you'd like him. How about the snow today? I will say that I'm very glad I had his done in the winter, much easier I'm thinking than during the heat of summer.

Thanks for your reply... So very helpful!!! I'm glad you're doing well and I think you were very wise to get it done during the cooler months.... the snow (what little there was in Arlington) was awesome!! Take care and I'll continue to follow your progress.

You go breast sister! I'm excited for you! I'm sure you will have awesome results. I always tell women not to worry what they look like for a while, they change a ton. I'm 7 months post op and they look so different than they did from month one... thank goodness! Happy healing and hugs! Keep us posted, we are here for you.

Implant Free and I can breathe normally again!

Sorry, I may have posted this twice...
I am saline implant free! Today is the 3rd day since the explantation and lift. The immediate realization of not having to lift up my left breast to feel like I could breathe was a stunner. The surgery was about 3.5 hours, Dr. Naveen Setty in McKinney, TX performed along with a great anesthesiologist and the fantastic nurses at McKinney Methodist Hospital. I was very happy I was in a hospital, that way if anything went wrong we were near an ER and it gave me a lot of peace.
The day of surgery I was sleepy, a bit uncomfortable but nothing major. Slept most of he night, but my sons got me up to empty my drains and to help me walk around. Dr. says important to move around, and if lying down occasionally rotate feet and ankles. No blood clots for me, Please!
Yesterday there was discomfort, today there is still discomfort, maybe more pain but also a feeling of "pulling." I've read from other wonderful women on here that's part of healing process. I did take more pain meds today, my niece who underwent double mastectomy kept in touch and told me today would be the worst pain, the 3rd day. So I woke up ready to take it on. I did take a tiny peek underneath and yikes, the stitches are something else. In time it will all be fine.
Any of you ladies that have had this, can you tell me how to keep the bottom band of the compression bra from irritating the stitches? It feels like it's binding up on the drain tube and then underneath on my stitches and I keep pulling it down. Uncomfortable. I'll try and post pics from yesterday. Thank you all for helping me, it means so much.

CONGRATS!! I can't wait to get mine out on the 27th!!

There is a company called Brilliant Contours that have AMAZING compression bras! They are specially made for post-op procedures and very comfortable! I actually heard about them on this site and just recently ordered 3 for my upcoming surgery. The sizing is a little different so I would suggest calling before you order to get the correct size.

Best wishes for speedy recovery!

First Look!

I was nervous taking the compression bra off to see my breasts first time since the explanation and lift. I am pleased, they look just the size I hoped for. Hoping for nice healing of the scars. I did sign up for Enhance scar therapy so with that and some prayers it should all be fine. As it is I'm happy to be free of those heavy implants. I really can't believe it's done. It truly hasn't been as bad pain wise as I thought it would be. I've tried to listen carefully to others and not do too much.
Dr. Setty removed the drains the 9th and said take it easy, no lifting anything heavier than a gallon of milk.
I did too much yesterday, even after being forewarned. I'm not feeling well today, very tender. I didn't lift heavy things, I just folded laundry, some other light housekeeping and obviously it was too much.
Most of today has been in bed with breaks of walking in the house and backyard to keep blood clots away. Only broth, applesauce, low salt saltines and water today. But one of my girlfriends who is from New Orleans is dropping a piece of King Cake her husband just brought back last night! Hope to be able to enjoy a bite or two.
Here are latest pics without the drains. I've started using Arnica cream that has vitamins K, C and botanicals and am taking Arnica capsules Dr. Setty gave me. I am slowing down on the Norco, finished the Celebrex, Keflex, and Flexaril.
3 days after surgery I began B6 (250 mg) Omega3fish oil (3,000mg) CoQ10 (200mg) vitamin C (1000mg 3 x daily) Zinc (50mg) and continue the Colace to help me stay regular. I split those up take some in morning and others after dinner. Here are latest photos exactly one week post op.

Omg, your stitching looks amazing! Very artfully done, and I'm very picky about stitch work (it's one of the reasons I love who I picked as a a surgeon). That's a great point about folding laundry, too. I am glad you mentioned that. You look fab!! Happy First Look Day!

Congratulations on your explant
Also yes in answer to one of your above posts my ribs were actually dented by the weight and placing of the implants. Mine always felt tight like an uncomfortable bra you could never remove. Good luck with your future. You sound like a really cheerful happy woman:)

Supposed to help soften the scars, so less or no keloid hopefully.

Thank you so much! Sorry I'm late getting back to everyone, it's been a rough time pain wise. Took it slowly past two weeks.
