Terrible results - I look like I was sawed in half

i had top surgery with dr alan dulin in 2019 when i was 14 years old and i didnt realize how bad my experience with him was until i had my breast reconstruction last year. my consultation for my mastectomy was less than 15 minutes long, very little about the procedure and potential complications were explained prior to the day of surgery. i had no time to weigh the risks and benefits. my nipple grafts started rejecting and it was impossible to get in contact with his office until it was too late, so now not only do i look like i was sawed in half but i have ugly jagged scars where my nipples were supposed to be. i feel bad for the people who have to go with him because of pricing or insurance coverage or distance. experiences with his other surgeries seem to be more positive, but if you are a transmasc person seeking a mastectomy dont make the same mistake i did, look elsewhere.

Nipple grafts always have a chance of failing. That is something that was made very apparent to me in 2019 when I saw Dr. Dulin not only in person but throughout much of the paperwork that was given. Since you are a minor, that paperwork was given to a parent or guardian. I'm really sorry that this was not seen as a more positive experience, as I hope it would be for trans people.

did he tell you that graft rejection is almost always caused by fluid buildup behind the grafts? and that "drains free" procedures inherently have higher amounts of fluid buildup, especially if you had large breasts? he told me, as well, that there was a chance. he did not tell me that the kind of surgery he was performing, which he is one of the only surgeons who does, was putting me at an unnecessary and elevated risk of it happening and that I in particular was at a significantly elevated risk due to the size of my breasts. doing so would have meant that I would not have given him my money, and this man clearly did not put my best interest above profit, as he amputated my healthy breasts as a middle schooler with no provided documentation of longstanding gender dysphoria.
