Accutane worked miracles with me. At the beginning...

Accutane worked miracles with me. At the beginning of this year my skin was worse than ever, as shown in my "before" pictures. I had the kind of acne that you cannot cover up with makeup, and it was all over my face, chest, and back. Gross. I had been going to a dermatologist for my acne for 3 years, trying all sorts of topical and oral prescriptions. I had tried just about every acne solution at the drug store, not to mention Proactiv and all those commercial ones. I felt hopeless, and I had a huge lack of confidence. Going on Accutane was one of the best decisions I have ever made.
Now, my skin is 100x better than I can remember it ever being. The only marking left on my face (as you may notice in my pictures) is pigmentation from old acne, since it was that severe. My dermatologist says that will go away, it just takes a long time to do so.
I would 100% recommend Accutane if you have been battling acne for as long as I had, or if it is as severe as mine was.
Side Effects I experienced:
-Dry skin: I used to have extremely oily skin, but ever since Accutane my skin has been normal to dry. This could be a pro or a con depending on how you look at it, since I no longer have to blot my oily face all the time. Most of my dryness could be helped by moisturizing daily, which I didn't used to do.
-Dry lips: Probably the most annoying side effect I experienced. When I say dry lips, I mean drier than you can possibly imagine. The only lip product that could make my dry lips TOLERABLE is Aquaphor healing ointment, which I would have to apply ever few hours or else my lips get dry, cracked, and flaky.
-Nose bleeds: I hadn't gotten a nose bleed in many years, but I had the occasional one while on Accutane. Nothing intolerable.
-Dry/Red eyes: By the end of the day my eyes tended to be a little bit red and irritated looking. I started using eye drops nightly and that went away.
I didn't experience any changes in mood, increase in head aches, hair loss... Nothing like that. There are a lot of Accutane horror stories on the internet, but don't be scared!
