Before and after 2nd BA surgery.

More Details....

I thought it might be helpful to put a bit more info on the procedures and recovery.
Once I arrived in Manila I was met by my brother and sister in law...who also arranged for a relative to come and stay with me to cook, clean and help me to appointments and after surgery. This was a bonus as having someone with me 24/7 who was from the country helped invaluably.

Day 1.
Arrive on the Sunday...(Dr Eric opened clinic specially for my first app. as I only arrived the day before into the country). Very excited and nervous. I was accompanied by relatives so felt very safe and comfortable. We discussed what I was hoping to achieve, my expectations and the doctor detailed the procedures he thought I would need and we had discussed over the last 12 months via email. I agreed to a mini tummy tuck, Breast Augmentation and Tumescent Lipo of Inner thighs, Upper and Lower Abdomen, back, waist and love handles. He took some photos and asked if i was ready to go ahead. Of course I said yes.
Next Day.
I arrived at the clinic at 9am...(his operating theatre is here..along with dental, and numerous other specialists). The first thing was to have blood pressure, weight, height etc. Checked. Then blood tests, and xray of chest. Then a visit with the Cardiologist. Once all marked off that I was healthy enough to proceed with the surgery...I met with the anesthesiologist...who was so nice and very professional. He explained the procedures with much detail and what his role would be. All this took a few hours. During this time.....whilst I was waiting for my turn...I had my teeth whitened.... Then I was called into the waiting room.....the waiting seemed to take hours....Dr Eric's assistant is fantastic...we became good friends over the next 2 weeks and still are in communication. I was given a gown....then I knew it was about to happen....and started getting nervous. The anesthesiologist came to get me...I was put on a trolley bed...he found a vein and said..this will relax you....that was all I remember until I woke up in recovery.
By this time it was the next morning....my surgery took quite a few hours but when I woke up my sister in law and brother were there. I was still fairly out of it from the drugs, and don't remember any pain...but do remember there was a few holes from the lipo, that they left open...this was the worst bit as the fluid was running down my legs. I can remember them putting me in a taxi...and helping me up to my bed...once I got back to the unit, I slept for many hours. The hard part was needing to go to the toilet every few hours...and being so very swollen. I read about it...researched it...but still wasn't prepared for it. Also the lipo holes on my back were also leaking...and as I had to lay on my back..it was not comfortable at all. My biceps were aching from the cuffs they put on during surgery...so I found it very hard to get up off the bed...luckily I had lots of help the first week or so.
Around Day 3....I went for first checkup....all was looking good, although I felt like I'd been hit by a truck....I decided when I returned from that visit that I was going to have a shower. In hindsight...big mistake. As I had pulled some stitches in my breast...unknowingly....then I had a shower....used soap.....but all the while, I was bathing wounds with Betadine. I started feeling very sick and tired....my breast stitches looked very red and were getting a bit mucky looking. On the next checkup the doctor checked on these and decided he would have to put me on stronger antibiotics and may need to restitch both breast. After they where cleaned up and he checked them he decided that he needed to put me back into theatre and clean it all up. Unfortunately my brother and sister in law had to come back to Australia, so I only had my one carer. So a week after the initial surgery I was back in and had the implants removed and the pockets cleaned out and restitched. This time at recovery...I was a different person....within a few hours I was craving milk and cheese. Both not easy to obtain in Manila...but my carer certainly found some at the 7eleven next door. I was able to go for dinner the same night. I am so thankful my Dr sorted this straight away. I think it was totally my fault and don't blame him at all...I am grateful he did not charge me to fix it.
I had a Jackson-Pratt drain inserted from the Tummy tuck and this certainly assisted in removing fluid also from the lipo. I was hoping to have this removed before my flight home....but on my last check up it was still collecting way to much. I was in Manila for a total of 2 weeks. On the last day...I had my final checkup with the Dr. All the tummy tuck stitches were removed....the drain had to stay and the stitches from the BA....also had to stay due to the second surgery. I received a medical clearance to fly with the drain...I still had lots of antibiotics with me....and headed home. My feet were so swollen I could not fit my shoes on...the flight only made it worse. Trying to sit upright with stitches and a drain....then do up the safety belt. I nicknamed my pubic area.....'elephant fanny' as I could not believe how swollen with fluid it had become. Well that has reduced somewhat...but still swollen. Luckily after reading other peoples stories on this site...I knew that would happen. I will upload some pics of BA infection and post some further to my story shortly.

My problems started at age 29 when due to severe endometriosis & scarring from a C-Section, I had a Hysterectomy...I was left with 1 partially functioning ovary. Starting menopause at this young age was hell on my body. So I went from a size 8 to a size 14 in a matter of a few years. I then had a back injury a few years ago and needed surgery...no more exercise and dancing. That just made things worse...and I then became depressed and embarrassed at how my body had become, hiding myself from my husband...lights off, no swimming, no shorts, even cancelling parties or events as I felt to fat to be seen. Once I realized how it was affecting me, my marriage and my self esteem, that was it. I decided on a mini tummy tuck, BA and Lipo. Whilst I am still recovering...coming up to 1 month now...I feel great....should have done this sooner!

After talking via email to many doctors I decided on Dr Eric. He always responded to my many questions...quickly and it was him...not an admin person responding. Dr Eric is very pedantic about every part of every procedure...it has to be perfect. His costing was also the best with discounts for combining procedures. His wonderful staff are the best and made me feel comfortable and safe. As I have now had my procedures I can say Dr Eric is a magician....I am extremely happy with my results. If you want to travel overseas and feel safe in the knowledge your Dr is experienced and has all the right credentials...then visit Dr Eric at The Icon Clinic.
