Botched and Scarred by Dr. Eric Yapjuangco
My surgical history with Dr. Eric Yapjuangco is long and complicated so I will try my best to make it clear. I had two rounds of surgeries with Dr. Eric Yapjuangco, which were complete and utter failures that permanently scarred and disfigured parts of my body. It has been an expensive, painful, and miserable experience.
Short Version
I am an Asian male patient from the US, and in early 2016 I had booked a Rhinoplasty and Male Gynecomastia surgery with Dr. Eric. For those who are not familiar with gynecomastia surgery, it’s basically surgery to remove excess fat and gland tissue that causes “man-boobs”.
1st Surgeries - Rhinoplasty and Liposuction of Chest for male Gynecomastia
I suffered multiple complications during my first surgery in addition to very poor aesthetic results.
- I was given an enormous 6.5mm goretex implant that I NEVER approved of which made my nose look completely freakish and unnatural
- ruptured sutures that left a gaping wound and exposed cartilage grafts in my columella
- uneven and asymmetric alars / nostrils
- deviated tip that tilts to one side
- Severely damaged ear from overly aggressive cartilage harvesting.
- Chest was left with asymmetry and a deep / wide crater from excessive liposuction
*Please refer to pictures to see the damage I sustained.
2nd Surgeries - Revision of unnatural, asymmetric nose from first surgery
Revision of crater / asymmetry from excessive liposuction of chest
I returned to Dr. Yapjuangco to have my both my nose and chest revised due to the poor outcomes of my first surgery. Overall this second round of surgeries was a huge compromise because many of the issues he caused during the first surgery were irreversible and that he was unable / unwilling to try and fix them.
-He replaced the enormous 6.5mm goretex implant with a significantly smaller implant. I had asked for cartilage because I no longer wanted an artificial implant that posed a risk for infection. However, he refused and would only use another smaller goretex implant.
- He was unable to fix the nostrils / alar asymmetry because too much skin / tissue had been removed in the first surgery. My nostrisl / alars remain uneven, scarred, and asymmetrical.
-For the crater deformity in my chest, he had to liposuction fat from my stomach and inject it into the large depressions on my chest. However, a significant amount of the fat grafts dissolved over time. While it is an improvement over the crater he left me with in the first surgery, I now still have marked asymmetry in my chest.
I am now at 2 years post op since my initial surgeries with Dr. Eric Yapjuangco, and have been left with unacceptable scarring and asymmetry on my nose, ear, and chest. The pictures I’ve attached will show the damaged I sustained from my surgeries.
Permanent Complications / Disfigurement :
-Collapsed, deformed, contracted right ear where cartilage was harvested
-Wide, indented, very visible scarring on my columella
-Nostrils are asymmetric, uneven, and unnatural looking due to excision of alar rims
-Nose tip continues to be deviated and tilts to one side
-Hanging / drooping tip when smiling due to excision of alar tissue
-Asymmetric chest due to fat grafts dissolving after revision
-Numbness and loss of sensation on parts of my nose tip.

i want to offer any advice that can help you...normally a second fat graft is needed in most fat graft surgery so you chest can be fix...and your thinned skin nose could thicken over time...from the pic your nose don't look horrible and i give brutal honest feedback...and yes, i do see all the flaws you are pointing out...its hard to judge by photo as seeing it in person. botox under nose can stop nose from pointing down why smiling..you can look this up...prp/fraxel restore can help with scarring and healing if done by a skilled person

Thanks, but the problem is not really the tip. It's because he cut off the nostrils rims, and shortened the alars. The result is that when I smile, my nose tip looks like a downward arrow because he shortened the alars by cutting off skin directly from the nostril rims. It's hard to visualize unless you see it in person. There's no fix for it because you can't put back tissue that's been removed.

I'm really sorry to hear about your bad experience. I'm currently looking into surgeries for myself and will also be a young adult from the US flying in to Manila. Thank you for your clear and detailed review. I hope you recover well, even if it is emotionally as I know you mentioned how impossible it will be for anyone else to fix the malpractice he did on your body. God bless.

I have the same issue the implant he put on my nose is too big and the edges of the implant is too visible and looks so unnatural it makes me so conscious at all times. I have extremely uneven nostrils and scars are still very visible.. the natural C curve is destroyed left me with so weird alars and nostrils.. Everything he’s done on my nose was rushed!! was not carefully made never. i’m still in deep pain and depression right now because I look like a different person now

Damage to Ears
botched11March 17, 2018
The following pictures shows how Yappy harvests cartilage from an incision place DIRECTLY on the ear. His technique is super agsressive and leaves terrible scarring and damage. Most surgeons will only harvest the cartilage from the back of the ear to avoid scarring, but Dr. Eric's techniques are outdated. Essentially, he removed so much of the cartilage from my right ear that there is not enough cartilage left to support the weight of the ear. My ear is now looks deformed and misshapen, and without the cartilage to offer support, it has collapsed. You will also notice that the ear has contracted due to scar tissue filling the empty space left by the cartilage that was removed.
him. They’re all scammers! The photos they posted on instagram are photoshopped and edited.
