I had a face lift with laser resurfacing 8 weeks...

Laurie Morristown
WORTH IT$32,000

I had a face lift with laser resurfacing 8 weeks ago today. I explored the most recommended surgeons in NYC and decided to go with Dr. Rosenberg, as I felt he made a connection with me as a person/face and not "ho hum, another facelift" I am thrilled with the outcome, subtle but significant changes and I look like a better version of me--fully my goal and his. He spent a lot of time discussing the procedure with me and he delivered what we together felt was the best outcome for this stage in my life. I am so happy I made the decision to do this now and not hold off. I will say that the healing has been a little more tiring than I expected. On the other hand, I went out in public with minimal bruising 8 days after the procedure--amazing!!! Back to work in 13 days.

Update April 11, 2013

I stayed in a hotel across the street from the hospital. The doctor required 24 hours of nursing care. The minute I got there I realized my husband would not be up to an additional 24 hours of icing, cooking and helping that was needed. As this was a most expensive procedure, I decided to just spend the additional money with one more day of hotel suite and nursing. It was the way to go and it was absolutely the right decision.

A friend told me to have bags of frozen peas available when I got home. They were fantastic ice packs. Light weight and malleable. Otherwise, lots of light soft foods, easy schedule and sleep.

Wow! Your results are just beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing! Were there any supplies you couldn't have lived without during recovery?

April 10, 2013
Congratulations! You look wonderful! Looking at both pictures, you look like a totally different person! Great doctor!
April 10, 2013
I agree about great surgeon. I actually really do look like a refreshed version of me. I lost about 10 years of lines!!!
April 11, 2013
You look absolutely gorgeous. My first thought was that you must have had Dr. Rosenberg perform your surgery because you look so natural and beautiful. I'm so glad I've chosen him as my surgeon. I've seen him for two consults, and now just have to get up the nerve to schedule! You must be thrilled. Congratulations on such a great outcome!

It was hard to find a block of time where I felt I could be out of sight for a while. I did not do my eyes, so I had minimal bruising. I truly was fine going out and to work after 13 days, albeit very tired for 3 weeks. It is 8 weeks and I am still aware of my neck and ears, but have not restrictions and have had no one stop me to see if there is something "wrong." I did tell most of the people I am in contact with, so there was only one "did you cut your hair differently." I just hope it all sticks for a while. Quite an investment in wrinkle removal!!! Worth it. My husband is quite enamored with the "trophy wife" thing. He is quite silly about it, but I am enjoying his interest in my look. The hotel across the street was PERFECT and the nurses were amazing, so if you are biting the bullet, go for the extra day and relax. (BTW, the anesthesiologist was quite special too)

Thank you for the reassuring words. I plan to stay at the hotel across the street from the hospital as well. After seeing your photo today, I think I'm going to schedule for early September. I'm not surprised to hear that your husband is also happy! You look fabulous! What sort of anesthesia did you have? I usually get sick from general or conscious sedation and am trying to get Dr. Rosenberg to do the surgery under light sedation so I'm awake.

Laurie I love reading your comments... thanks thanks thanks..... I really didn't interview many surgeon. Several of my older girlfriends were Baker face lifts and they look good, but told me to go to Rosenberg as I really need a brow lift and Baker would not do that.... Rosenberg is much younger and seems to have a great eye and turns out beautiful faces.......

Susan, Today was the day. I am thinking of you. Please let us know how you are.
August 20, 2013
So sweet of you . I am just getting to my emails. Came through like a champ. The brow lift was the most painful, but love everything and I am still very swollen and have some staff infection that looks awful, and I still love the work Dr. Rosenberg did. He was more wigged out when he saw me than I was. Sent me right to an infectious disease doc, cultured me etc. Lab says something is growing and will know exactly what tomorrow. On high does of a broad spectrum one for now..... feel amazing walked 5 miles today and plan on more tomorrow. Dr. said Ok but no running and no high heart rate....My friends that know me 30 plus years say he took over 20 years off my face ( it was all in the brow lift if you ask me) I will post picks when I am healed, as I might scare off some people! Thanks again!
August 20, 2013
Susan, I am glad that you are so happy!! Please let us know what the culture says.
August 21, 2013
I also ended up with a bacterial infection on my chin (an adult version of acne) and my ps immediately sent me for tests. Unfortunately the medicine the dermotologist gave me I had a very bad reaction to ( drug induced fever) and I ended up losing 10 pounds until they took me off the medication. All is now healed but was not fun at the time. Hope you are better! I am impressed you could walk 5 miles right after having the facelift !
August 23, 2013
Susan, How are you feeling? Did you get the results of the culture back? I hope you are doing well.
August 25, 2013
Thanks so much for asking...asking trying to respond since Wednesday was was unable to on my i phone.... Her's the good bad and the ugly lol I have been in Lenox Hill Hospital since Wednesday night ...thankfully Dr. R was much more concerned than the infectious disease doc. I contracted a staff infection and luckily the IV they put on in the ER (that kills everything ) is the perfect one. I know this may sound crazy, but through it all i still am amazed at how wonderful i look.... front on looks amazing the infections are on the side. Surgery not compromised in any way buy will take longer to heal .... still love my love my Doc....Will post whole story when I get home on the site. I feel amazing Running around the halls like a lunatic ....lol
August 27, 2013
Wow Susan, You have been through alot!! You are in my thoughts. Please keep us posted.
August 28, 2013
Oh wow ! Staff really no fun. I am so so sorry. You have fantastic results . My daughter was just at Lenox hill but in the maternity ward. The place is a bit crazy. You indeed have a great md.
August 28, 2013
To Susan fb Hope your infection is under control. I did not have this complication. Glad dr r is very attentive

Susan, How are you feeling. Are you home yet?
September 1, 2013
Feeling great..funny I never felt sick. Got home last Monday and going back to NYC Tuesday. If you look at me head on I look amazing if you look at the sides, or under my chin (where the infection grew) I still look "banged up." I wrote my story with pictures and documented all of it. I will not post until I settle a couple of insurance / hospital issues, as my insurance carrie ( BC/BS top plan) has already denied the claim for the infection, as it came from a cosmetic procedure..... Once that is settled I will post it all! Thanks so much for checking on me! I still love the results on the parts that I can see ...lol
September 3, 2013
Hi Susan, What is happening with your insurance company is outrageous. They have to cover it. I know someone who developed a blood clot from fat injections and their insurance company covered that medical complication. They are just giving you a hard time and I am sure that Dr. Rosenberg will deal with them until they pay. I am so sorry that you are going through this. I hope you heal quickly so that you can really enjoy your new look.
September 10, 2013
Hi Susan, Just checking in to see how you are doing? I hope you are healing.
September 11, 2013
Thanks, so much for checking... stilll a long haul Dr. promises it will all look perfect....... ugh way more time on this than imagined.... I live at the beach near Atlantic City NJ so every week in NYC is a major pain in the butt.... If you look at me head on I look wonderful and love what he did... If you catch a side look you could think I was a burn victum! Thanks again for checking!

You look stunning.......20 years younger at least.

1st off...your pic looks fabulous! Was wondering if you would share more information on the laser resurfacing? I had a face/neck lift, laser around eyes, fat transfer and a breast aug on April 9th. In the "beginning" healing stages and am feeling a lot of anxiety at this point. Guess I wasn't expecting the amount of tightness in face and neck, and swelling in mouth tissues from fat injections in face. The eye laser was decided on a few days prior to surgery because of my concern about skin around eye being loose and tired looking and possibly not matching the "new" face. Was wondering what kind of laser you had and how long it was before you healed enough to even run errands w/o getting looks? Thanks!
April 13, 2013
I am not sure the name of laser but there was a gross ring of oozing tissue around my mouth where it was done. My surgery was on feb 13 and I was back at work (with kids and adults) on Feb. 25. I was able to cover up pink skin with concealer and was seen by my grandchildren and children around 8 days later with minimal makeup coverage. I had no bruising. I was also surprised about how tiring the healing was, but was totally ok to be in public in less than 2 weeks with no sun glasses, minimal makeup and no funny glances.
April 13, 2013
I had my fa e and neck lift on the 8th and can tell you that my face is very tight and swollen too I sm not in psin but i sm very sore i feellike i am waring a mask. You had alot done so it will take time for it to all heal and calm down. Tske is slow and enjoy your hubby esiting on you. I take an epsone salt bath then a shower every day it feels the best. Hugs to you from Florida:)

Thanks Laurie...Yes..the oozing. yuk!! Today seems to be less of that so feel tomorrow will be the break over day and healing will be more evident. Unfortunately I do have bruising. Partially because of the fat transfer but may have also been because I was very sick the night of surgery and probably strained things that just needed to rest. We have a get together with family and friends a month after surgery so am hoping to disguise everything that hasn't completely healed yet with makeup. Sounds like you are doing great and your pictures certainly look like it. Thank you again for the response.

Hi PattyO, Did you do any fat transfer with the procedure? I really had no idea how tight, hard and swollen everything would be. And foreign it would all feel. Luckily had stocked up some protein shakes, straws and jello mixes...but do with the pain meds would have worked out to help me over the "humps" at times. Last night pillows felt like hard lumps. :-) Am curious if have found anything that helps loosen the tightness? Thanks and hope you are doing wonderful!

Hi Gettinghelp How are you doing? Saw your post this morning and hoped thst todsy you would see some improvement... i had a fact snd neck lift with a spot of chemical peel on a dark spot on my ft cheek. Today day #6 i can feel a little loosening It goes from nose back toward my ears. Someone on this site shated a youtube "lymphlage massage" my doctor rrcommended a massage therapist who will come yo.my home on Tuesday after i get my stitches out. I have followed some of the Very GENTAL masssge techniques in the video. It just helps to get your adrenal glands moving fluid down an into your blood stresm. I do it in my bath or r shower it feels good and MAYBE it helps i use Arnics Gel on my fsce and neck svoiding my incisions PATIENCE is the word of the day i feel like lityle by little i will come back bwtter than ever Arnics and put Arniva gel on my neck and fsce a oiding my incisions.

Good Morning PattyO, Thank you for your message. I hope you are doing great this morning! Things are still very tight but getting a little more mobile. I will see if I can find that video on youtube. I have to think that gentle stretches or massaging would help get some mobility going again w/o undermining the surgery. I am still pretty bruised up (I think being sick that first night contributed to this) but neck is turning more yellow and I think I will be able to put some makeup on the darker ones around my lips and chin if I have to be in public this week. So far, just have appts at PS office and will try to keep it to that. Feel the stitches tightening up and think they are ready to come out (yay!!). am looking very forward to that. Have seen many posts that say once the stitches come out the healing seems to speed up. That would be wonderful!! Have you noticed if your face feels heated and tighter in the afternoons? I will keep the word "Patience" etched in my mind all day and look forward to the baby steps of progress when they come! :-)

Hi Laurie had my face ,neck , brow , ears , and mouth (old silicone taken out) done on monday. Love, Love love Rosenberg. Even though I am extremely swollen my brow lift looks amazing. My eyes look like they did in my twenties..... don't have that surprised look either. Very bruised on upper cheeks near ears. I see him on Monday. My one girlfriend thinks I talked too much and have a hematoma (she's not a Dr., so hopefully she's wrong) lol Nurses all told me he's number #1 in the city if not the country. Baker and Asten although still good are old and not "cutting edge" Well worth the money! Will post pictures when I can ! All of the best Susan
August 17, 2013
Interesting re Rosenberg . Pitman who is up there with Baker and Aston ( they were all on the cover of ny mag 5 yrs plus ago as the best ps's in the city) and he is more conservative. But for fl he was good so far but I do not think he is cutting edge. He is best known for liposuction which is why I saw him a yr ago. I wonder if I should have gone to Rosenberg.
August 19, 2013
What is Rosenberg's first name? Also mark sultan is he good for breast and other procedures. Pitman did my face and more recently (July 10) breast augmentation. A yr prior lipo which was excellent . As time goes by will see more results and judge but indeed you look fantastic. If I can ever figure out how to post pictures I will.

David Rosenberg in NYC. (There is another in Beverly Hills,--not him)
August 21, 2013
Dsail, I am sure that everything will be fine. If you are happy that is what is most important. There are plenty of people out there who are thrilled with their facelifts and they did not go to Dr. Rosenberg.

Continue to be very happy. I think I look very very good. Lately there have been a lot of reactions that I really look well from people who don't know I had work done.

Laurie, Are you happy with the incisions around your ears? That is the area that I am most concerned about since I wear my hair up.
August 13, 2013
just replied above, but, NO SCARS, keloids or bumps. Completely invisible. I healed well, but really no issue there. He injected a small bump under my ear in July and it is MIA. The first 8 weeks the invisible stitches do a fair amount of popping out, but they don't show either. under my chin (not hidden by hair) was good immediately

NO SCARS. ANYWHERE. I know I healed really well but there is not a single visible scar anywhere, even behind my ears. I am able to pull my hair back, where it in a sweat band for tennis, etc. Surgery was in February. Have been able to do this since May. When I returned for follow-up pictures in July he injected a very small area behind one ear and now there is absolutely nothing unless you took a magnifier under my chin where there is a hairline invisible line about 1/2 inch.

Best I have seen. You get what you pay for and your the oroof.
His sutureing skills are phenomenol.
If your going to have work done on your face I believe you should NO doubts whatsoever going in
because after all, it's our face & we're thinking about letting
someone cut into it.
