Wonderful Experience with Smart Lipo Buffalo Hump Removal
I recently went to Dr. Breitbart for a “buffalo hump” removal procedure, using Smart Lipo. After doing plenty of research to find a skilled and competent local surgeon, I called Dr. Breitbart’s office to inquire about a consultation. My first contact with his office set a positive tone that has continued throughout the duration of our dealings together. His receptionists were very kind, and were able to offer me an appointment for a complimentary consultation for just a couple days later, which was wonderful. I had assumed I would most likely have to wait weeks or months for the consultation alone.
The day of the consultation, they took me on time, and the office was comfortable and easy to find. When Dr. Breitbart came into the room, he was friendly and explained that he had seen and worked on the same condition before, and was very familiar with it. He said that it would be simple and straightforward to remove it. He explained the process of how Smart Lipo works, the prep and recovery, and the different anesthesia options available. He was patient and answered all the questions I had written out in advance to ask.
After the consultation, Jen in the office sat with me to go over the process of ordering a compression garment (which I would have to wear post-procedure), and the payment options available as well. I was not ready to schedule the procedure that day, but she answered all of my questions about scheduling and booking the procedure, such as the days the Dr operates on Long Island, available days, and how far out they are able to book.
When I decided I was ready to book the procedure, I called the office and spoke with Jen. She was patient with me inquiring about several dates I was interested in, and allowed me time to choose what worked best for me. She took a deposit by credit card over the phone to hold the date, and told me she would be emailing me a pre-surgical instruction document with all the pertinent information. She sent me a link for the exact compression garment I would need to order, and told me that the doctor would call in the necessary prescriptions to my pharmacy a couple weeks in advance of the procedure so that I would be all set with everything when the time came. She told me to not hesitate to contact them with any questions or concerns, which I did end up doing once or twice. They double checked things with the doctor and were able to return my calls or emails in a very timely manner. They were very responsive each time, which I appreciated very much.
The day before the procedure, Loretta called me to let me know the time I needed to come in. She went over the last minute details and answered all my questions, putting me at ease. Finally, when the big day came, I showed up to the office nervous but Dr. Breitbart and his staff greeted me warmly. I met two nurses, (Harriet and another whose name I unfortunately forgot) who were both very kind, putting me at ease, answering all of my questions and went over everything with me again. They brought me into the operating room, and Dr. Breitbart did the Smart Lipo procedure on the back of my neck and back. I elected to have the procedure done with a local anesthetic, so I was awake the whole time. The doctor and nurses kept asking me if I was ok during, and told me what they were doing as they were doing it. When it was over, the nurses helped me up from the table, helped me put my shoes on, and helped me into the compression garment...all while being caring and compassionate.
Dr. Breitbart’s office contacted me the next day to check in with me, and to make sure I was doing ok. At my two week post-op follow up, again they took me in right on time, and the doctor was very kind and pleasant. He had initially explained at the consultation that the swelling which would be present after the procedure would most likely obscure any visible changes in neck/back area for months...yet even at the two week mark, the swelling had gone down dramatically, and for all intents and purposes, my “buffalo hump” is gone! He said things looked great and that everything was healing very well. I again asked a bunch of questions, which he was very patient about answering.
As I write this, I am one month post-op and things are looking and feeling great, and I’m extremely happy with my decision to have my buffalo hump removed--and to have chosen Dr. Breitbart to do it! I will be forever indebted to him for his great work. His skills, competence, friendliness and the kindness, care and efficiency of his nurses and office staff made a very scary and nerve-racking endeavor much less so. From the initial consultation to the recent follow up, everyone has been a complete pleasure to work with. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Breitbart and his Manhasset team!
